I was pretty happy to hear the MNF crew call out of the NFL on their bogus rules. Even Tirico was saying the rules are ridiculous, which was a shock to me. Some of these flags are getting ridiculous especially involving the QB. News flash, QBs don't get a concussion from an arm to the facemask, they get concussions being hit in the face with a helmet. I'm tired of seeing an arm hit the helmet of a QB and getting flagged. Hopefully this off season they revise some of these rules.
This is what happens when they let a woman quarterback for the Patriots. The whole league suffers.

I knew I should have watched the Giants game, but the New Orleans disaster was too magnetic.

it surely won't be this week! that would be like the rams beating the saints

in all honesty every game is going to be a fight for us and i don't think we have any gimmes on the schedule. there's no such thing in todays WATERED DOWN SHITTY NFL WHERE THERE ARE NO GREAT TEAMS! I FUCKING HATE WHAT THIS LEAGUE HAS BECOME!!!111 [/eznark]
VTHOu.jpg

I've also never claimed to hate what the league has become (outside of the flags for tackling). Just Monday I was saying how I think this season is an anomaly as a result of the accelerated off-season.

Poor eznark, whatever will he do?

Enjoy a game with awesome defense hopefully. As opposed to the game featuring atrocious offense like we got Monday.

Some people think they are the same thing. I feel sorry for those people.

BLarry, do we have an avatar bet over this game?

It sucks we can't use animated GIFS because I would have given you an avatar of Hines knocking Ed Reed the fuck out. I will probably use either something embarassing from the game or maybe that 1 yard TD from Ben to Holmes that won the division.

I have no idea why someone decided to ask him about his contract, which is a few years away from meaningful, but his answer is pure gold.

“It’s not something I think about,” said Rodgers, who is represented by David Dunn, who handles many of the top quarterbacks’ contracts. “We were so blessed to be able to have that contract done in 2008. We knew at the time that was more money than I ever could have imagined signing for, and it was a no brainer for me. But we knew if I performed the way I felt I was capable of performing, that by league standards that by the time I got into my third or fourth or fifth season, that I’d be underpaid by league standards.

“But I don’t look at it that way. I look at it as I’m fortunate to make the kind of money I make and be in the situation I’m in and be with the Packers’ organization. I want to retire as a Packer. They know that, the fans know that, my teammates know that, and this is where I want to be. I’m not worried about (a new contract). We’re still a few years away from me completing this deal, and whenever it comes time to make a new deal, I’m looking forward to maybe signing my last deal, playing it out, and retiring.”

Erron's not durable to make Joe Flacco money let alone Big Ben money.

No wonder he is forced to do those lame insurance commercials. He needs the money to pay for that new Camaro and his 14K bBling.

Holy shit, that is awesome. I wish we'd hear that from more players, in every sport.

"I don't think it will ever affect my play," Favre said. "My first year, when I made $300,000 ... You know, I'm one of those guys who enjoys playing the game and have always said that regardless of what I make, I'm going to play it one way. And I really mean that.

"And people they may roll their eyes at that, they may not. But that's me. It's over and done with today and we go on and play football."

The 31-year-old quarterback said he could never envision himself playing for another team: "If that was to ever come up, I probably would just retire," he said.

When Ben gets Mark Sanchez money you can start mouthing off.
:lol

Sanchez wishes he made Big Ben money! Have you seen those fabulous hunting shirts he wears after a game (normally a win) in the press conference? This is not some cheap shit from TJ Maxx, Ben obviously is spending the big bucks at a Cabella's or a Bass Pro Shop for that kind of look. Ben doesn't have to wear his dead uncle's suit like Erron when he goes to the Kentucky Derby. Nah, you can tell he goes to the nicest Big and Tall in Akron so he can look good when he goes out with the boys. Only the very best when you are the 1%!

I would bet money that their responses are coached.
Not even a Packers fan would take that bet. That was not a far cry from "both teams played" hard.

It will be funny when he does ask for more money though. I will enjoy seeing the Packers infighting.

What infighting? When has it ever been hard for a team to extend the contract of a premier quarterback? The Manning contract was the most "dramatic" and that was clearly because the Colts were dragging their feet based on his injury. They should have dragged harder.

And I think Sanchez is now the second highest paid QB, isn't he?

Following up on the TJ signing and Rors noting that guys like Hagan can't get a shot. Well he's not going to either.

Former #Giants WR Derek Hagan was waived by the #Raiders to make room for T.J. Houshmandzadeh. He had 11 rec. for 114 yards this season.

Are you saying Favre said the same thing or that they are asking because of Favre?
Most players say the same things, and it's easy to believe considering the situation he's currently in (at the top of his game, part of a great team, etc.)

I love Rodgers' answer, and I actually believe it to be a genuine response, but a lot can change
when you turn Favre's age and become senile

Two completely separate issues. Rodgers will still be in his effective years when the next contract comes up. Once that contract is nearing an end is when the issues will crop up.

Choke of the week:

That hurts, man.

Schedule:

EARLY

Miami at Kansas City-Battle of the Matt's. Mediocre Matt beats Marvelously Awful Matt.

Atlanta at Indianapolis-You can't Suck for Luck by winning.
Tampa Bay at New Orleans- Some good old-school Cajun home cookin'. (And no you can't have any Freeman)
NY Jets at Buffalo-Buffalo might be the best team east of Green Bay.
Seattle at Dallas-Suck for Barkley doesn't have the same ring to it. But oh well.
Cleveland at Houston-The Superior Half of the Alliance with an easy win against the Dawgsss.
San Francisco at Washington-Upset Special. West Coast to East Coast, early game, yadda, yadda, yadda.

LATE

Cincinnati at Tennessee-Chris used up all of his "running from da cops" speed getting to the bank.
Denver at Oakland-Tebow visits the Wilderness
NY Giants at New England-Giselle's Husband can't lose two in a row, can he?
St. Louis at Arizona-St Louis Cardinals>>>Arizona Diamondbacks, but Arizona Cardinals>>>St. Louis Rams
Green Bay at San Diego-DemiGodgers classes up the joint.

5-STAR MATCH UP

Baltimore at Pittsburgh-Can't Wait
for Flacc's to lose

MONDAY

Chicago at Philadelphia-Redeem Team

.

FUCKING SAINTS.

Miami at Kansas City - This team is dysfunctional but winning.
Atlanta at Indianapolis - yeah...
Tampa Bay at New Orleans - rematch in the dome motherfuckers. Saints actually show up in their own dome this year.
NY Jets at Buffalo - Fitz shows Rex what an actual QB looks like.
Seattle at Dallas - There is some fight in this squad after that shellacking.
Cleveland at Houston - Houston continues to not be Houston.
San Francisco at Washington - Frisco is relevant for another game.

Cincinnati at Tennessee - Cincinatti continues to win.
Denver at Oakland - Tebow, Tebows. Raiders Raider.
NY Giants at New England - Upset of the week. Brady sees pass rush ghosts.
St. Louis at Arizona - Arizona beats the dogshit out of the Rams, who look nothing like last week.
Green Bay at San Diego - Rivers derps his way to victory.

Baltimore at Pittsburgh - Baltimore defeats Pitt again. Shit gets ugly.

Chicago at Philadelphia - Philly has an offense.

I didn't know Sanchez had that big of a deal. I don't remember hearing of him getting a 100 million type deal like Ben and the big boys get.

And you are making assumptions that Erron will continue to play this well or not get injured when it is time to talk money. There is going to be a dropoff and there are going to be injuries and the Packers are going to try and stiff him and he will be pissed.

To be fair, the MNF ref crew was one of the worst of the entire season. The interference call on Gates and McCluster fumble were both blatantly wrong and they even had the chance to look at video. Absolutely terribly officiated game. I like the outcome of course, but Cryin' Rivers fumble completely masked some really, really blatant mistakes by the refs.

Lol. He'll be 30 years old when he extends his contract after next season. A toddler in QB years.

I went to Philly one time had a Geno's Philly Cheesesteak and was in heaven. I weep for what passes as a Cheesesteak here in San Diego. I think once you have had the real thing you can never eat an imitation cheesesteak again.

He is reckless as hell and he doesn't have the kind of body to withstand big hits AND he plays in the same division as Suh.

Even though he is beats up stomach cancer victims I still don't want him to get hurt, but I wouldn't bet against it.

But then again GB's management is probably as dumb as all the other ones and I see them giving him a contract bigger than Vick (who to me is also an injury time bomb, even worse than Rodgers).

Yeah there were some really horrid calls in that game for both teams. I hope that officiating crew gets 40 lashes.
