NFL 2011 Wild Card |OT| Where Everyone Is In Like Flynn

Mendy put on IR, out for the playoffs. I was thinking maybe just the first two games, but now he's done for good. Most LIKELY he's done for the Steelers, with that type of injury. We need to sign someone good this offseason.

Not surprised at Clark not playing, and Mundy is an acceptable backup. I'm not too concerned about our corners against Denver -- why should I be? The brunt of our defense is going to have to be our LBs and linemen making stops. We should also be playing Troy up close instead of way back.

As for offense, I think we'll be alright, but I want Ben going long more often in this game than he has in the last few games. The last team Denver played with a good deep threat was Detroit, and look what happened there. Wallace and Brown should have huge games.

Moore did play for the Dolphins until the Eagles D knocked him the fuck out, and the Dolphins only had like 40 total yards while he was in.

So beating the Dolphins with Moore starting would have been impressive? Beating the Dolphins is impressive?

I mean yeah its nice the D played well at the very end but that alone is no indication of how good the D is. Overall the D was bad this season. At times terrible. 5 fourth quarter leads lost. The better offenses of the league lit them up.

Playoff bound team ranked under two non-playoff teams. Broncos are a bunch of losers, should have also ranked the Eagles above them.

I think the D looked better at the end due to Casey getting his feet under himself, Cheney getting more experience, Juan mixing in blitzes and not being so predictable, and no Asante which let them play both corners in press coverage and move them around which allowed them to disguise their blitzes better. I was killing the Eagles D most of the year, but they looked really good at the end, maybe you are right and it is all who they played but other teams had trouble stopping the Fins and other bad offenses. They definitely need to make more moves to improve the D, but I really believe they are heading in the right direction.

Just found out I have to work Saturday night until 10.

First playoff game in over a decade? Of course I have to work.

Oh well--getting blown out anyway unless our secondary suddenly undergoes a drastic improvement. At least I'll be able to catch the 4th quarter.

Watch the game at work, call in sick, quit.

Jim Schwartz, you've done it again.

Schwartz said the Lions need to learn from that performance while reminding everyone that a Week 17 defensive letdown isn't indicative of what a team will do in the playoffs.

"(In 2000) we were battling the Ravens for the best defense in the NFL, and in week 17 they played the Jets and gave up 524 yards," Schwartz said. "This is the Ravens team that won the Super Bowl and set an NFL record for total defense. When they got to the playoffs they gave up three points, 10 points, three points and seven points in their four playoff games."

I love it. "Hey, we gave up a few yards last week, but SO DID ONE OF THE BEST DEFENSES EVER before they won the Super Bowl!!!! It's like we're exactly the same!"

Not possible, not possible, I have 3 children and need my job.

I'll DVR it.

The one time I was going to show up late to watch a game I told all my friends to not text me during the game and just listened to music on the way home. It was lame not being able to talk shit on GAF but I caught up in the 3rd Q thanks to commercials and half time.

Mendenhall is 24 years old. He's not going anywhere.

Only reason i'm worried about Clark is that he's our best tackler this season, and Tebow takes off at the drop of a dime. Timmons better be on his game this week.

One long bomb to Wallace in the game, book it.

He'll be back soon, I got banned longer for telling people who were going "LOL Wii online" in the DQX reveal thread to shut the fuck up.

Eh I got a month for saying a dude sucked dick to further his career from podcast host to "producer" on over rated games. I think Buckethead will be gone at least that long.

I hope so. I guess you're right actually, he didn't even seem all that hurt when he walked off. Hopefully that means he'll be ready for training camp.

As for Clark, Troy can match Tebow's speed. I'm not concerned.

First round pick for Matt Flynn? BARGAIN:

http://footballoutsiders.com/quick-reads/2012/week-17-quick-reads

Quarterback Matt Flynn threw for 480 yards and six touchdowns against Detroit yesterday, setting Green Bay Packers benchmarks in both categories. As Flynn passed names like Bart Starr, Brett Favre, and Aaron Rodgers (not to mention 4,000-yard passers Lynn Dickey and Don Majkowski) in the Green Bay record books, he clearly played the best game of any passer this week, but where does it rank on the all-time list? And as Flynn enters free agency, what can it tell us about his future potential?
Flynn completed 31-of-44 passes with three sacks, one fumble, and one interception against Detroit. Combined with a couple of rushing plays, that all worked out to 290 DYAR (Defense-adjusted Yards Above Replacement - more info available here). That's the third-best game of year - Drew Brees' 412-yard, 5-touchdown game against Minnesota in Week 15 is still tops, and Tom Brady's 361-yard, 3-touchdown performance against Philadelphia in Week 12 is second. ...

Matt Flynn is 26 years old. He has four years of apprenticeship on one of the best offenses in the league. His ceiling is Hall of Famer; his realistic floor is Pro Bowler. That's got to be worth more than an unproven rookie, doesn't it?
Flynn is about to enter free agency, but the Packers would never be foolish enough to let him walk away for nothing. They're sure to franchise him and trade him away for picks, just like New England did with Matt Cassel. The Pats sent Cassel and Mike Vrabel to Kansas City for a second-round pick. Given how many teams are desperate for quality passing - Seattle, Miami, and Washington, to name some of the top candidates - the Pack are bound to get more than that for Flynn. Any team that gets Flynn for a first-round pick, though, will have gotten quite a bargain....

please let the seachickens trade for this bum and pay him a boatload of money. PLEASE!!

My money is on Washington straight up for their first round pick this year and a third in 2013. Packers will take RGIII and turn him into a safety and laugh at teams who can't find a quarterback as they give Rodgers the Favre treatment in a few years when Graham Harrell emerges as the true Greatest of All Time.
