lol man that sucks for chargers fans. might as well jump ship. if your owner isn't interested in winning, what exactly does being a "real" fan get you?

Don't listen to this coward, Nightz. You know what it gets you? The ability to hold your head high and respect yourself.

As usual you are optimistic whereas I have just resigned myself to expect the worst. The Eagles FO/Reid regime has shown no great ability to lose key veterans and replace them with just as good if not better players. They also don't seem to care very much about the WR position. Sure they finally got it right with DJAX and Maclin but lets not forget how they settled with Kevin Curtis to replace TO.

Eagles do a great job of bringing FA yes but rarely do they go all out like they did this past off season. They target the 1-2 players they really like and usually get them. But it all depends on which position they value and don't. If the past (10+ years) are any indication they would much rather not pay DJAX, let him walk, and replace him with a WR who is either #2 or #3 on another team but young and fast.

So if they let go of DJAX I would hope and pray they go after Bowe or VJAX but I just don't see it. Returns are another area which they never seem to address. How many years of Mahe did we get? Again with DJAX they hit pay dirt for once at both WR and PR. KR still sucks. I see them drafting a CB or RB in the 4th or 5th round who they will stick back there.

The redzone problems are more due to forgetting to use both McCoy and Ronnie Brown more, running the ball more, and DJAX being a dickhead thinking about his contract. They didn't have redzone issues last year really.

The Eagles have had to totally rebuild the roster during Rieds tenure. I dont see how you can say that they dont do a good job of replacing the people that they lose. I think they have done a great job of bringing in guys. You specifically mention Curtis but he looked great when healthy. If he hadnt gotten hurt so much he would have been a great signing. The Eagles have to address WR, when DJax was bench the offense looked terrible. They need someone who can get down the field and make plays, Maclin is great at the short to intermediate stuff, but he hasnt made as many big plays this year. I agree with you about LB being their #1 need, and I wouldnt mind a veteran safety even though Nate is going to be great next year and I have high hopes for Jarrett. Eagles need a backup QB, and maybe a backup RB, I definitely think they have space to sign a KR if there is someone out there. I know Ginn is a pipe dream, I think the 9ers will sign him before free agency even starts.

I can see the Chargers hanging on another year with Turner. Look at all the teams shopping for coaches now, and more to come. Unless you have someone waiting on the job, you might be going from the frying pan to the fire by firing Norv now.

They said Jeff Fisher was interviewing in Miami.

I would think someone like Cowher would do great with that team. They have a ton of talent but they cant seem to ever get focused untill they are almost out of the playoffs.

Can't believe Norv is hanging on, feel bad for Chargers fans, another year of punts from the 35-yard line until the end of the game and then settling for 54-yard field goals with the game on the line.

They had to totally rebuild because he has been there so damn long. Any coach who stays in the same job for 13 years will have to rebuild once or twice and replenish a position over and over. But Reid has had to do it at WR over and over because they failed so much. Kevin Curtis was decent in St Louis behind Holt and Bruce. He was not a #1 and only played well sparingly for the Eagles. And he def was not an adequate replacement of TO, especially after seeing what a dynamic WR did for this offense/team.

Giving Reid credit for having new players is basically giving any team credit for drafting new players every year.

In fact their whole philosophy is to draft for the future while the present core remains competitive but doesn't get over the hump.

Lurie: Reid is great! Another 10 years HOORAY! All staff changes are up to him so Juandamentals are back too!!!

YEAH!

He'll be shuffled somewhere else though, right?

Dont worry. The refs will still cuddle your baby boy over Brady.
People that actually watch the games know how laughable that is.

I'll be ok with the decision if Spanos does a couple of things: 1) fire Manusky 2) smack some sense into AJ and tell him to draft guys that make sense instead of trying to find diamonds in the rough and 3) tell Norv to grow some balls at end of half/game and OT situations.

Well Lurie just confirmed Reid is back as HC and Vice President of Football Operations. All coaching staff changes are up to Reid. Reid loves Juan. Juan should get the axe immediately but you never know with Andy. He did name him his DC for some odd ball reason so why not keep him?

I doubt Spags even wants to come to Philly. Why come coach D when the HC has already chosen the scheme and assistants for you? Only way Spags would come if he had full control over the D.

Howie Roseman, the lawyer with no prior football experience as a coach or player, will remain GM!!!

SWEET BRING ON 12-13 SEASON!

smh Stockholm Syndrome. See it all over Houston. They don't know there a 2-14 team out there just waiting for them

Didn't Spags have some sort of fall out prior to leaving? Mike Garafolo mentioned it as a possible hurdle for PHI and Spags reuniting.

With the defense improving as the season wore on, I can't see them firing Castillo. If the Eagles have another bad, disappointing season next year, Reid is gone and Philly will have to start over. First step will be to find a new, Franchise QB.

I don't think he'll be fired. Maybe moved to something like Assistant Head Coach or something.

Holy shit

New play: Brady pitches the ball to halfback and rolls right to lead block. Runs into guy. Automatic 15 yards. It's literally unstoppable.

LOL, it was like 15 seconds of Brady prancing around with no clue what to do until he gets pushed. Should of just ran far far away, wasn't like he was actually trying to make the damn tackle.

When Spags was a position coach, Reid blocked him from interviewing to be the DC at MINN, fearing that Johnson was soon to leave to a HC elsewhere.

They have supposedly reconciled on this, and it would not be a hindrance to him returning. What would is Washburn. Wide 9 would have to go, and Spags would probably want input on defensive staff

His other butt buddy Marty Morenigngfhghgh is next in line for that.

He did but it was because Reid wanted him as the next Eagles DC in case JJ left to become HC. Obviously JJ didn't leave, so Spags was bitter and left a season later to be Giants HC.

Apparently that won't be an issue. The issue would be that the dline coach basically runs the scheme of the whole D. What self respecting coach would want to take over a D when you can't run your own scheme? Only JUAN fits that description!

For real. I can see how they called the penalty on Tullochs hit on Ponder since Ponder was just jogging to the general area of the play, but Brady pursues the play to the point that he changes direction 3 or 4 times.

So if a WB is front of the runner and the runner "Bradshaws" him by lowering his helmet, is that 15 yards on the ball carrier? It must be.

Summing up Lurie's press conference:

I'M MAD AS HELL. THIS SEASON WAS UNACCEPTABLE. TOUGHEST SEASON FOR ME TO ENDURE. UNFATHOMABLE. LAST 4 GAMES WERE FOOL'S GOLD AND D ONLY DOMINATED INFERIOR COMPETITION. HAD NO SHOT TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. EVERYONE IS ACCOUNTABLE. EVERYONE!

But yeah Reid is back as coach and VP of Football decision. Oh he will also make all calls on who I sign the check for (coach staff). BTW the accountant masquerading around as our GM? He is back too!

ACCOUNTABILITY 101!

What makes it so infuriating is that the stuff I typed in caps is what he actually said. He even admitted the 4 game win streak to end the season was fools gold and that the D isn't that good. Yet no changes. Brilliant.

please people the rules are protecting any QB, case in point Dan "no star value" Orlovsky gets sacked by JJ Watt and lowers his head into Watt and Watt is called for roughing the passer, even though he still had the ball and it was the QB who initiated the helmet to helmet hit.

Yeah yeah. It's a have/have not system and always has been.

Simply put, Ben, Rodgers, Vick, and Tebow flat out will not get those calls.

Brady deliberately made no attempt to tackle Barnett and actively tried to draw the penalty and the refs obliged.

Was probably the most complex resignation note ever. Surprised they were able to decipher it so quickly.

This may be my favorite post in a long time. Well done.

Well, at least Lurie acknowledged there were problems, as I didn't expect him to go that far in the first place. Now let's hope there's anything of substance to these Spags for DC rumors, because I don't know if I can handle more Juandamentals with the schedule we have lined next season.

This season was unacceptable yet no one is held accountable. Great. Supposedly Francesca of WFAN in New York said that Lurie called Spanos of the Chargers to tell him to stay away from Andy and that is why Norv is back in San Diego.

I hope they can get Spags, but if not I have no problem with Juan coming back. Bad teams or not the D dominated the last 4 games and I am excited to see what they can do next year, especially if they can replace Foku.

I'm still surprised they kept Lovie. Not because he's a terrible coach but isn't it rare to bring in a new GM and keep the same coach? I don't recall that happening much at all.

eh see i still disagree, Ben does get those calls, Watt was pushed into Ben's knees at the end of the game and was called for roughing the passer. Its just wildly inconsistent for every QB and every team.

I don't understand why they didn't sign a real MLB. It was stupid.

Honestly what is the point of acknowledging the problems if as an owner you don't have the guts to hold anyone accountable.

He literally said at the start of the conference everyone is accountable. Then rambles on about how awesome Reid is and how everyone is back. WTF?

Grow some balls. I think he is afraid of going back to the pre-Reid days. Yes that would suck but Reid is not the last coach on earth. There is life after Reid.

I don't foresee any big changes. He also had the nerve to claim Reid is not arrogant and unlike other Head Coaches Reid is always changing and adapting. WHEN? WHEN MOTHAFUCKA?

It will be the exact draft philosophy, same offensive scheme, and another year of Juandamentals or anyone else Reid can promote from in house to keep tight control over.

You're looking at it the wrong way.

Ben doesn't always get that call. JJ Watt does.

It's kind of unreal how difficult the Rams schedule turned out to be. It's not even close, no matter the website/metric you use. Really feel like they could have been 4-12 with NE's schedule

Exactly. I don't even get how fans are not fed up already. 13 years going on 14. No accountability. Wonder which position coach is unreasonably promoted to DC now.

I don't understand why they didn't sign a real MLB. It was stupid.

Really? You don't know? They don't give two shits about Linebackers. Even when implementing a system (wide 9) that requires strong LB play they did nothing to improve. They drafted Casey and just decided on draft day he was their starting MLB. The guy never played MLB and was benched by week 3 or 4.

Its a fucking joke. Oh yeah Juan and his D beat up on Miami without Moore, Sanchez, Cowboys without Romo, and the Redskins. Surely the D's problems are fixed and they are ready to face the elite offenses.

I don't understand why they didn't sign a real MLB. It was stupid.

Naming Matthews the starting MLB was a terrible mistake. He is going to be a really good OLB, his development is one of the things I am most excited for next year, but either Cheney or a FA should have started at MLB. If either of those things happen the Eagles are getting ready to beat the Falcons right now.

Moore did play for the Dolphins until the Eagles D knocked him the fuck out, and the Dolphins only had like 40 total yards while he was in.

I've argued the value of continuity on several occasions, noting that quarterback Jay Cutler will soon be playing for his fourth different offensive coordinator in the past five years. The Bears have an opportunity to minimize the change if they promote offensive line coach Mike Tice, as we've discussed, and it appears that Tice will receive strong consideration for the job.

You're looking at it the wrong way.

Ben doesn't always get that call. JJ Watt does.
im not looking at it the wrong way im just remembering the most egregious bullshit that i saw penalized on my team this year. How bout another Watt call against the Jags, he gets pushed into Gabberts knees and gets called, literally the next series Leinart is pancaked and driven into the ground without the ball and no call, this was the play he broke is collar bone on. All im saying is its wildly inconsistent.
