NFL 2014 CC |OT| Holy Grail

Hi friends,

I'm going to try to keep this short before it becomes any more self-pitying and indulgent than it's already going to be, but long story short I've asked to be permed from GAF.
I'm not interested in it anymore, it's a distraction, and I invest too much time making football threads when I should be focusing on getting my life together.

It really has nothing to do with the Packers or football although that collapse was a cherry on top of shit sundae that has been the last couple months of my life, if not a perfect analogy outright.
It's more so due to the fact that I've become an irritable malcontent that wakes up hating every day and I need to figure out how to fix that for my own health and sanity. Like Godslay's boy Pey Pey, I've been playing injured, and this is as far as I can make it.

It's been a lot of fun talking shit with all of you notably Bionic, Chuck, Deacon, FMT, Pigeon may he rest in peace, DM, Bread, Bowser/Grover all y'all look alike anyway jk, RBH, Jak, Xia, and probably more people I'm forgetting. It's been fun.

I appreciate the couple of people who have given me life advice and provided a shoulder when I've needed it - Wienke, TheLegendary, and occasionally papa Ez. Endless thanks are due to Greg for being the nicest dude in the history of dudes and someone I consider a great friend.
If you're interested in catching a beer, game, or whatever down the road, you likely know where to find me. For another time.

Best of luck to Seattle in the Super Bowl, Rando deserves nice things.

Remember, bans are like glorified vacations anyway. I'll see you guys around.

Good luck to you, friend. Always been a cool dude and I've enjoyed your threads. Don't make it a perm though. Take a good while off and come back happier.

Is the rumour about Pats being investigated for ball deflating true? Or made up?

It's true, but the most that happens is they lose a draft pick. You don't beat a team 45-7 because of deflated balls, that's why it's so stupid.

Good luck to Bucket. Always enjoyed your threads.

Damn man, you'll be missed. I understand - sometimes you need to take a break from this place. I was fairly inactive for about a year or two, just couldn't justify the time sink (and yet here I am again). Do what you need to do to get better.

Colts should lose draft picks for this story. Embarrassing stuff.

Bucket, I was going to kick you out of Packers-Age anyway. We need to make some cuts due to the loss. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

Deflating balls? Lmao man I am cracking up. Talk about sour grapes
They obviously can't help themselves.

Cheating is in their blood. It is who they are.

Because they surely did not need to cheat to beat the Colts.

Asterisks. Asterisks everywhere.

Nobody has said they won because of the deflation. That doesn't mean deflation didn't happen. Stupid that they can't keep themselves from cheating.

Still can't believe Rodgers said they were the better team yesterday LOL What a chokejob that was. I love how the guy on special teams is basically taking all the blame. That defense was atrocious at the end of the game, and the coaching staff cost them the game being overly cautious.

I like how Rodgers blamed his damn team, it really had to be done.

Was that wrong though? He was clearly not 100% and that same strategy got them a lead (pretty much all of their points were from INTs from Wussle).

Its too easy to play monday morning quarterback but it is very possible that if the Seahawks played more conservatively they would have been the team on top thanks to free FGs from turnovers.

They win the game if they catch that onside kick (which was an amazing kick).

Its as simple as that.

Take it easy Bucket, good luck to you!

Edit: Seahawks were working that wheel play all game long and had no success, except at the end of the game. So GB defended it repeatedly, until it mattered most, hard to be perfect. No clue why the middle of field was open in OT. A couple of plays separate teams every week, and GB just didn't make them late in the game. Hawks got lucky too, no question.

I hate to say this guys but I have cracked the code.

Hokies beat Ohio State early in the season, finish the year at 6-6 (.500). OSU goes on to win the National Championship.

Dolphins beat Patriots in week one, finish the year at 8-8 (.500). Patriots go on to win the Super Bowl?

Football gods, why have thou forsaken me? :(

When you have the league MVP yes. They should have tried to get a score on one of those plays at least. He's elite has all the skills, and is generally careful with the ball.Even with a gimp leg you have to trust your QB in that situation. What's the point of having the best qb in the NFL if you're going to be too scared to use him.

The kick was amazing, but that defense had plenty of chances to make a stop. That entire sequence in overtime was embarrassing.

The problem with that is that he was clearly hurt and he was not playing very well. I don't know whether to credit Seattles defense or if that was because of his injuries, but he didn't do much on offense almost the whole game. AND that strategy should have won them the game. Like I said it just came down to that dropped onside kick.

This is just monday morning qb. You might be right and maybe if they unleash Rodgers they win by 20. Or it is possible in his current gimped state they give the game away and Seattle romps.

That's always an element. When people call a team "lucky" or "fluky" they tend to ignore the actual amount of luck that it takes to make it to a Super Bowl much less win one.

To balance that statement a little, you don't make it to two Super Bowls on luck alone either but it sure does help when everything is seemingly going your way.

I will forever remember that Packers game as one of the greatest chokes I have ever seen in the NFL. I mostly blame McCarthy for his overly conservative gameplan which was simply asking for this kind of backfire, but the whole team folded in the last few minutes. Simply incredible in the worst way imaginable for Packers fans.

- The two fourth and one from the goal line FG's.

- Falling down after the INT with 5 minutes to play.

- Rodgers' terrible second INT.

- The unbelievably awful play by Clinton-Dix on the two point conversion.

- The muffed onside kick.

- The defense after the kick and in OT.

The list goes on and on and on. Simply unreal.

While it was a horrible choke I will still give Seattle some props.

Their defense was amazing and kept them in the game when it should have been over about 6 times.

Maybe it's me projecting since I've seen the shit Pats defenses of the past give up those drives at the end of the game. It's just really hard for me to just pin it on that one play when the defense had an opportunity to do something, and failed miserably.

Eh, McCarthy had them up 15 points with less than 5 minutes to go in the game. Hard for me to shit on the coaches. God's Gift catches the football and it's iced.

Packers lost because of bad execution on a couple of key plays. In most instances the coaches had guys in the right spot.

Whatever, losers lose. Looking forward to a 14-2 second round loss season next year.

That falling down after the interception was outright stupid imo. From what I remember it looked like he had enough room to run it maybe into field goal range for the packers if they didn't get anything going for that drive. I was shocked when he just fell down.

I know I haven't been around that long, but you seem like a good guy and I certainly appreciated the great job you did on your threads Bucket, best of luck to you.

Sorry Pack-GAF...I know that is a tough game to lose.

ez, can't believe you are standing up for a coach who kicked two FG's from the one yard line (one of them was more like the one inch line) and didn't let Rodgers try to ice the game on the last Packers drive. Losers lose, indeed.

I certainly see where Philbin gets it from. I guess McCarthy is just Philbin with a better QB.

I know there is plenty of blame to go around but McCarthy deserves a nice chunk of it.

They were up two possessions with a few minutes to go. A whole lotta plays are more relevant to the Packers loss than settling for a few redzone field goals in the first quarter.
