I'd take a 70 year old Tom Brady over an any aged Matt Ryan.
No you wouldn't.
That's why you're not a General Manager.
You'd build your team around a GOAT QB like Tom Brady, who's Kobe Bryant/Peyton Manning style about to retire?
Get ready to start scouting QBs in hope you find a franchise QB when he retires in a year or two and you're scouting Carson Wentz, Connor Cook, Paxton Lynch etc. Good luck.
Matt Ryan has been a playoff QB in the big league NFC where competition is harder than the weak ass AFC.
Matt Ryan is a solid, young QB who's been playing with one of the worst defenses the last two-three years.
This is why debates about QBs in NFLGAF get tiresome. I was here when the vast majority of NFL fans and NFLGAF swore up and down that Mark Sanchez was the best QB from the 2009 QB class.
I can't throw a football for shit, and never have been able to. But I've played with great QBs and against them and you don't have to be a QB coach to see the difference in how an offense moves when Matt Ryan is at QB vs. say a Blaine Gabbert.
Stafford was hurt his first two years, and Mark Sanchez had the benefit of playing with an amazing defense and running game coached by Rex Ryan.
I'll never forget Matthew Stafford's first NFL game at New Orleans. Yes he threw 1 TD vs 3 INTs but the way the offense flowed and moved convinced me he was going to be great and has God given talent.
This was coming off the 0-16 season and the pace of the offense and the command he showed as a rookie combined with his undeniable physical ability throwing the football with strength and accuracy told me this is the franchise QB the Lions have been looking for since the 1950's.
TD:LR You wouldn't build your team around a 39 year old QB over a solid 30 year old QB in Matt Ryan, who's proven himself and had probably one of the worst defenses the last two years.
Unless you're trolling, which I understand somewhat. But all 32 GMs in the league would take the 26-33 year old playoff QB with solid stats and leadership to build your team around as opposed to the 36-40 year old QB, who has had past success, but is about to retire and go to Fox, CBS or ESPN as an NFL analyst.
