Probably too busy adjusting settings.

(I tried to find one in "RBHvision of a dude filming the tv with a camera but alas)
So I built my PC way back in 2011.
Here's what I mostly have and what I've spent since then:
ASUS P8Z68-V LGA 1155 Z68 Mobo - $169.99
Intel i5 2500k - $219.99
G.SKILL Ripjaws 16GB DDR3 1600 RAM $59.98
Windows 7 OEM - $99.99
NZXT Phantom - $124.99
Antec BP550 PSU - $69.99
Hitachi Desktar 750GB - $69.99 (bought this during the flood that ruined HDD production - since replaced with SSDs)
Samsung DVD burner - $15.99
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus Cooler - $25.99
ASUS VE247H Monitor - $189.99
Radeon 6970 ~ $275 (can't find this receipt anywhere)
Logitech K740 ~$60 (no clue when or where I bought this but it's what I used)
Logitech G5 - $50 (also no clue when or where I bought this)
So that's what I had in late December 2011 when I first built my current PC. All told it was about - $1450 or so. Some of the things like the monitor and the keyboard and mouse I already owned but for illustration's sake, let's say that I bought it all at once.
Then I have since purchased:
Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD - $119.99
Microsoft wireless Xbox controller - $42.99
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD - $109.99 (you can see the price drop here from the other one)
EVGA GTX 970 - $295.98
Logitech G240 Mousepad (don't laugh it's nice) - $19.99
Logitech G910 Orion Spark Keyboard - $179.99
Logitech G610 G600 Mouse - $79.99
Netgear N900 Wireless Adapter - $52.99
Asus MX279H 27" monitor - $199.99
So another ~$1100
And then software purchases - $2950 or so on Steam (god that was depressing to add up)
Humble Bundles - $310 or so
Amazon software download codes - $30
So all told like $3300 for 772 games on Steam. Throw in another $300 for Blizzard software and probably like $200 in subscription fees for WoW and all in with hardware you're looking at $6,350 for what PC gaming has cost me since November 2011. So divide that out into 64 months and you get about $100 per month.
I just wanted to get the whole "PC gaming is expensive" thing out of the way because I'd wager that console gamers can easily average $100 per month when you factor in having to pay for Xbox live or PSN plus. I'm also being super generous and adding in shit like fancier than necessary peripherals, computer monitors when HDMI to any modern TV is fine, and a few other "quality of life choices" like the computer case, CPU cooler, additional RAM, etc.
At the end of the day, I believe that PCs are about value, experience, and choice. I don't have to celebrate shit like Grand Theft Auto finally being backwards compatible because I've had it the entire time
with mods playable from my couch using whatever god damn controller I please. I don't play it because it's kind of a shitty game and I've got 700+ other games to play. It's also full 1080 (if not more) and 60fps. Hell you can go nuts and get a GSync monitor and play things in 144hz.
Emulators? Got that (ever see Dolphin running Gamecube games? PS2 games in their full glory with AA?)
Porn? Yes.
VR Porn? The tech is getting there.
4K Blu Rays? Sure let me order the drive but I won't because fuck optical media
Want to boot directly to a game menu? Steam big picture mode will do that from startup.
VR? Vive is the best game in town and it's fucking room scale.
Oh and it's also a PC so I have full access to an assortment of software, my music library, photo editing, MS Office, etc.
And you can run it all through HDMI or whatever the fuck you want to output it with to any TV, A/V receiver, whatever!
Because PC is all about choice and it's fucking awesome here. I seriously encourage anyone and everyone to dive in because the water is fine and it's never been easier to get this shit up and running.
Unless you're using a gaming laptop. Those things are pieces of shit.
