Ha ha...it's the gift that keeps on giving.

Wright and Tannehill are the two guys I think will move up the draft board. Neither will fall past 20

I have Tannehill making it to 21 or 22

As for Wright I think his height at 5'10 will hurt him. Floyd 6'3 3/4 and Blackmon at 6'1 1/2

Muhammad Sanu could be value and would take over for AJ in the future. He looks like a Boldin type player not scared to be hit and hit a great blocker since the texans are a PA team

Alright Snyder I'm ready. Lets do this. Sign Peyton Manning. Draft Justin Blackmon. Get Peyton injured in week 7 because Trent Silverback Williams got high again and was suspended for 4 games. Go 6-10. Trade Peyton to Minnesota for a 5th round pick.

Alright Captain Buzzkill.

Alright fellow niners brethren, what do we need this offseason? Obviously, WR is at the top of the list, although we really only need a legit #1, since Morgan will be back. Although we could use a speedy wr who can catch (which disqualifies Ted Ginn, although we should resign him just for special teams if hes willing to basically stay in that limited role).

I feel that we need either a new starting RG or a new backup RG, but either way, there is never any reason Chil Rachal should ever see the field in a niners uniform ever again. I can't stress how important I feel this is, because I'm blaming the ravens loss pretty much all on him.

Also need to resign Goldson and Rogers (as I've stated a bunch of times now). What all am I missing?

Quarterback.

Quarterback.

I've already come to terms with the fact that alex smith will be back, as should every niner fan. Peyton isn't coming here and Alex Smith did enough to get himself a new contract, so im focusing on the things that will actually have a chance of happening. And he played (probably) his best game ever against the Saints, its just too bad he followed it up with that game against the giants and basically never converting a third down. Hoping he'll show more progress next year, especially with better WRs.

people say we need WR's and i wouldn't mind one but anyone who has watched harbaughs offense (at stanford and in the pros) knows that WR is arguably the least important position on offense when it comes to catching the ball. our WR's are used as blockers a lot. take a look at the nfc title game. our wr's COMBINED for 2 catches for like 10 yards and we were still a botched punt return away from the superbowl.

here is my list on what we should do in order of importance:

0. trade kyle williams to the chicago whitesox
1. re-sign carlos rogers
2. cut chilo rachal
3. re-sign dashon goldson (i dont think he is a top FS and he isn't great in coverage but he makes enough plays and lays the lumber)
4. find multiple WR's. i would love a big bodied guy like vincent jackson. i also wouldn't mind dwayne bowe. i'd prefer not DRAFT a wr in the 1st round but i dont know much about the draft class
5. extend teddy ginn. we took steady PR/KR's for granted all season and in the most important game of the season when ginn wasn't there look what happened. i dont care if we have to pay a premium for him as PR/KR.
6. i would like to keep ahmad brooks but i dont think we can afford what he will ask for. he was kind of the quiet guy in our LB group but he had 7 sacks and a ton of pressures. yes he benefitted from our good line but he is a really good player
7. extend costanzo and spillman! our special teams coverage (and our special teams in general) is best in the NFL
8. get some depth on the interior of the line. as i said before, cut rachal and promote kilgore. draft a center or have someone ready, i don't trust adam snyder there if badloss goes down!

i'm really excited for next season. a full year under this offense, a full offseason in harbaughs offense, most of our coaches returning. we have a tough schedule this year but i think we're up for it

Quarterback.

this again? alex smith is fine. he's not a probowler but show me another QB who would've succeeded with this as their WR's:

1. crabtree
2. teddy ginn
3. kyle williams
4. brett swayne
5. joe hastings

i'm not making excuses for alex and i don't need to. 13-3, 90 QB rating, 7 turnovers all season. i will agree that he needs to take more shots but let us not forget this was his first year in a new offense. say what you will about him, but no one, not even niners fans, would have predicted he would've had the year that he did

I think that too often, people want to hustle quarterbacks out the door, and they don't appreciate what they have. It takes a lot of time, practice, and experience to develop the sense to make good decisions. Naturally, everyone wants to have a Rodgers, Brees, Manning or Brady, but there's only so much good QB talent in the league, and it usually takes time to develop. And given the right support, a decent QB can go far. Alex Smith would be in the Super Bowl if not for some errors on special teams. Flacco was a field goal and an OT away from the big game himself.

Any team with a top 10 quarterback is pretty fortunate. And a lot of the rookie quarterbacks this year could still turn out well if they're given a chance. Eli completed less than 50% of his passes in his rookie year, and look where he is now.

Quarterbacks, kind of like coaches, are visible and obvious scapegoats, but I think sometimes teams/fans aren't able to take the long view. The grass is always greener on the other side.

Flacco showed me that game If we wanna win Cam has to have a competent game plan. Baltimore Larry Need to realize this as well Flacco showed with a lil time to throw he'd shred a D

You... you do realise this is the GAF NFL thread right? Sense is not welcome here.

Dead on.

Good post. You have to marry your quarterback. New QBs seem like more fun and may be sexier but you married your QB for a reason. In terms of the Pats, Brady got knocked up before the wedding and was quickly able to come back and pop out two more. It is a shame he hasn't been able to produce more since the hotel got rid of the TVs.

Lets be real here, it's hard to recruit elite WRs to the Farm. I'm sure Harbaugh would love to have one he's just never been in a spot where that was feasible.

TJ Yates was a special team gaffe from beating the Ravens. It was a strange year. I am of the belief that you always try and make sure you have a top 10 QB on your team, or are actively trying to get one. Look at Alex's road splits this year. Terrible performance. Harbaugh maxed him out, and the only reason to keep Alex is if they think Kapernick is the guy but needs more seasoning.

As a Rams fan, I hope Alex is signed to a mega-extension. And yes, this is it for Bradford. He needs to show it next season or the 2013 off-season should be about finding his replacement. Just b/c you've failed with developing and drafting, doesn't mean you stop trying

So it seems like everything I read has indicated that Schiano will be taking many of his Rutgers assistants with him to Tampa Bay. I find this surprising because all of the assistants that have been mentioned have virtually no NFL coaching experience. Part of me assumed that as a result of Schiano's own lack of NFL experience, he would want to bring in experienced assistant coaches to help with his transition into the pro ranks.

If Peyton was healthy would Pat fans trade Brady for Peyton?

Brady is clearly washed up.

I am also bummed we are getting Haley as our OC. I don't like that guy...

I think it's a pretty solid hire, personally. When that Chiefs offense was healthy it wasn't awful, and it didn't have nearly the weapons Pittsburgh has.

Are you a Pitt fan?

I don't really follow any college sports. My college was like the worst sports school ever. I never felt comfortable just latching onto any college without having some kind of association to it.

I watch March madness (less and less every year) and that is about it. College football? :lol no thanks!

Why wouldnt you want Haley? Guy has shown to be a good offensive mind before, plus he seems like he would be willing to get in Bens face. Bruce was Bens buddy and he let him do what ever he wanted, even if it wasnt what was best for the team. I think the Steelers offense should be improved this year.

Ah, for some reason I thought you were a Pitt fan. I was going to say you have two pretty potentially exciting offensive changes to watch but, you don't care so go fuuuuuuuck yourself!

In news I am sure you will appreciate, my wife and daughter just left for a week to go visit Captain Hook down in Florida as he recovers from being a dumbass. I was planning on making a bunch of awesome shelves and a desk but because he cut his fingers off, I have been barred from using power tools until she gets back. Dota2 and SWTOR all week long!

He seems like a bit of a nutjob. Hopefully the calming influence of the Rooneys can get him to act like a sane person.

I do like the idea that he will get in Ben's face and try and limit how many shots he takes downfield. I also hope he can improve our RZ offense, which has sucked for a long time.

I mean he had a lot of success in Zona, but how much of that was him and how much of it was the trifecta of Warner, Fitz and the Almighty?

Oh well, I guess we will find out soon enough. I was hoping we brought in someone new. Hopefully Haley has some links to a good offensive line coach and brings him along with him. We desperately need a good coach there.

The only thing to do is to hang out with our unmarried friends and love vicariously through them! Fuck, I miss those days...

Hello NFL-GAF,

I thought I'd pop in and say hello as my account just got approved. I've been following the weekly threads all season and am fully prepared for the hate I am about to get being a Packers fan. I see how well Madtown was received when he first popped in earlier this year.

The fuck is this? If you're gonna lifelong at least be a lifelong for the new champs.

It is amazing what a difference Mudd made with the Eagles OL this year. They wer terrible last year, and they were really good by the end of this season. Adding Watkins and Kelce helped a lot but Mudd got everyone to play well above what they had before. I am so happy the Eagles are brining him back. Hiring him was by far their best move last year.
