NFL Offseason Thread |OT4| Fingers Crossed for a Homicide-Free July

Roto:
Tony Romo reported to training camp short of peak condition due to reduced offseason conditioning as he nursed a back injury.
Carrying four QBs on their 90-man roster, the Cowboys planned to ease Romo into camp and limit his throws anyway. He's only one pound over his playing weight of 230. Observed QBs coach Wade Wilson, "(With) the extended camp that we have, I don’t think it’ll be a concern coming into the start of the season."

I am already leaning towards DKCR being a better game than DKC2 and I am only on world 3. Thats high praise from me. There was a long range barrel shooting level that took me a few lives to clear.

Two questions. Can I play as Diddy? Also those hanging bags with a target on them how do I break or activate them?

I dont think they will be miss the playoffs bad. If they dont win the division then who does?

The dolphins have a shot, but that's the thing, it could end up that the pats make it like they did in 09, getting a bunch of easy wins in the cupcake division and nobody else giving them a run for the top.

The dolphins need to get a decent step forward out of Tannehill and they need Mike Wallace to be focused, they could have a decent offense.

The pats defense is still a disaster. They added a bunch of ancient guys to the roster, Dennard isn't guaranteed to play this season, Talib is injury prone, and their linebackers still can't cover a damn thing in the passing game. The pass rush could be ok if Chandler Jones takes the step forward, but they still have nobody for the interior to get pressure.

The big problem however is their offense, which is laughable. Who knows when the hell Gronk will be back, and WHEN he is actually back, what kind of shape will he be in, and how long before he goes down again? I actually like Amendola and view him as having a higher ceiling than Welker at this point in their careers. Welkers drops were not fluky, it's who he is, and he's 32 with a surgically repaired knee, that being said Danny is glass man, and only compliments an offense, doesn't make one, similar to Welker.

So lets say in a perfect world DA is actually on the field... who the hell else is there? Gronks out and ineffective when back, Hernandez...., Lloyd gone and disappointing. Ridley is rumored to have added a lot of muscle, and even if he took another step forward, with the weaker passing game, more pressure will be put on him. I don't have faith in Vereen as talented as he is, is probably never going to put it together consistently. Danny is gone as well, who was still good for a few big plays here and there.

This reminds me of 09 in the playoffs. Brady was throwing to people who don't belong in the NFL... Sam Aiken, Isaih Stanbeck, so on so forth. The reason the 09 comparison is closer than the 06 is the difference in the personnel, obviously the biggest being on defense. I truly believe this is the year that it all comes back to bite them in the ass with their bullshit strategy in the draft of high risk high reward, of skipping the bonafide talent, because there are "others" to be had at a better price (look at BBs thoughts on Julio Jones vs. Jonathan Baldwin), of refusing to pay for talent, etc. etc. etc.

As I write this I've realized there is potential there for a big turn around for the pats. Maybe pick Lloyd back up and given that year with Brady now will have better chemistry? Maybe the new depth at D can help out? Now that McCourty has had an offseason to learn the safety position and can fill that void that's been there since Rodney left. Now with Dennard and Talib, and finally Adrian Wilson bringing a veteran presence to all of this. When Gronk comes back and if Lloyd was clicking you could have Gronk, Lloyd, and Amendola, with Vereen/Ridley to complement the passing game.

That's a whole lot of what ifs though, and IMO the Dolphins have less to rely on happening, it really comes down to Tannehill being make or break for them.

I don't think the Patriots' defense is a disaster. Assuming health and availability, Talib, Dennard, and Arrington are a good cornerback trio. Behind them there is depth with potential with Dowling and Logan Ryan.

They subtracted two DTs who only factored in the run game (Deaderick and Love) and replaced them with two DTs that, ideally, will help spark the pass rush next to Wilfork in Armond Armstead and Tommy Kelly. The depth at the position needs improvement, but I think the quality of play will be improved from last year.

A consistent third pass rusher behind Jones and Ninkovich needs to step up. Whether it's Cunningham, Bequette, Mike Buchanan, or Jamie Collins, I think someone will provide 5+ sacks off the bench. On paper, that's also an improved group from last year.

The safety position should be solidified and a marked improvement over last year. McCourty and either Tavon Wilson or Adrian Wilson can make a good pairing, with McCourty providing deep coverage to prevent the long passes that killed the defense last year, and a Wilson closer to the line of scrimmage, delivering hard hits and covering tight ends. I think both players are an improvement on Steve Gregory and Pat Chung.

The linebackers should remain great and even improve. Hightower has another year in the system and Jamie Collins looks like he can be the coverage linebacker the team needs. If not Collins, then Adrian Wilson can play linebacker in sub packages. Dane Fletcher was also the best LB in coverage in 2011 and he's coming back healthy this year.

Kelly never helped the pass rush even in his 1 or 2 years that he wasn't a total bum, and he's always been terrible against the run. He was terrible last year. I wouldn't expect much from him at all.

Romo showed up to camp weighing 236 pounds. Fucker has been letting himself go since getting that big deal.

"For context 236 lbs is the weight of 1,302 crunchy tacos from Taco Bell, taking into consideration each taco weighs 2.6 ounces. If I were to consume this meal at the rate of 3 tacos per minute I could consume a Tony Romo worth of tacos in 7 hours. Math is fun, go Bucs."

Lots of what ifs here again. Dane Fletcher off the major knee injury, Hightower looked to have the same issues that both spikes and Mayo have... can't defend the pass. Adrian Wilson is a run stuffer at this point in his career, he wasn't even on the field for passing downs. Ras-I has huge upside, but is a MASSIVE question mark... guy hasn't even gotten through more than 2 full games in a single season.

Armstead is a flyer, and Tommy Kelly is ancient for the position. I won't miss deaderick or Love. Deaderick was often injured, and Kyle Love was ridiculously overrated. I don't think the trio of CBs is anything special. Talib is either great, or terrible and again oft injured, and Dennard might not even make it to the season if his Probation is revoked. Arrington is lousy IMO. I must not see what everyone else does, because I almost always see him getting dusted.

Again if you read my last post I say they have potential to actually be really good. If they can plug the gap at WR with either a veteran or bring back lloyd, and Amendola and Gronk are healthy, they will be decent enough on offense, and if their defense comes together the way it has potential too, they'll be a top team again, but so much has to go right.

My truck would breakdown the night before my interview.

Damn this vicious cycle of poverty is out to get me. If I didn't have my grandparents to help I'd be fuuuuuuuucked.

So it happens every year, which impact player will go to the IR during TC or preseason?

don't really have to worry about that since we don't have any impact players

sio moore would kind of suck tho. I think he is gonna play at a high level. Hayden too. but everyone expects him to die the first hit he takes anyway

Sio Moore going down would be a bigger impact than Hayden imploding. Raiders have no pass rushers and Sio is expected to contribute in passing situations. Who knows, maybe David Bass can actually be a 3rd down specialist. Jack Crawford has high hopes as well.

Good luck on your interview you poor, make sure to take off your pants during the interview.

I would say Brockers for breakout star. If he is healthy he could be All-Pro

Under the radar I'd say Givens or Pettis. I'm not sure if Givens qualifies as under the radar. People that really follow football probably know him, but do most fans? Pettis was an OTA all-star, but then so was Greg Salas last year. To me, Pettis is Brandon Gibson under he proves he can consistently beat press

Brockers is actually a great pick. Have heard good things

I think Sio is gonna play well period. He can cover man-to-man, rush the passer and has good play recognition. Dude had 44 tackles for loss.

I have high hopes for Bass too, more so than Crawford, but I think Crawford will get more involved and at least be a good rotational guy this year. He has great size for a DE and some speed. Houston moving to RE should help him get more of a rush going too, and old man Carter was looking pretty good by the end of the year last season.

We just don't have any interior rush at all. Sims is a run stuffer and Walker just bullrushes. I'm hoping Bilukidi takes a step this year. He has all the physical tools, was just very raw last year. I also expect to see Houston line up at the 3-tech on obvious passing downs. Should also see Branch and Woodson spending time in the box and blitzing as well in addition to Moore and Burris who can both get underneath the tackles.

It'll come down to clever scheming, which the Raiders got it together once Seymour went down and the other convict Slolando got benched. The Raiders D did finish the season pretty well, now with players that fit into Allen/Tarver's scheme. Crawford has all the tools, he's just raw like the other British we drafted this season. David Bass comes from a small program and he's anemic himself.

Well if I get this job the first thing I'm doing is buying a newish car.

Maybe you can contribute to the feed snes fund when you're not a poor.

It's 130 in the middle of the night you crazy goon.

Glad to see you're not dead Spades. How is it that 700 people die in a first world country in a heat wave? And 30C is hot for my standards but what he fuck, people dying in 90F weather?

It's hot man. We're not used to it.

Well I just woke up the baby laughing at this, my cousin in law is going to be mad, but it was worth it.

Breakout star: WR- Pierre Garcon: If both Garcon and RGIII are healthy, we'll see Garcon kinda solidify himself as a true #1 WR. No, he won't rank among the Fitzgeralds and Megatrons. And he doesn't need to.

Sleeper: TE- Jordan Reed- I went with Reed because nobody is looking at our TE corps. The secondary was riddled with injury and was a weak point. When the attention isn't there, it's on RGKnee. TE, is one of the deeper positions on the roster with Davis, Paulsen and WR convert who's name I can't remember at the moment ahead of Reed. However, Reed has the ability to get YAC that may even surpass Davis. Reed's athleticism and speed will get him playing time by mid season but only if he can improve upon his blocking.

Alternate: Aldrick Robinson

Sleeper: FS- Bacarri Rambo- As a 6th rd selection out of Georgia, Rambo made a name for himself as a ballhawk in the SEC. His stock dropped due to character issues stemming from drug use. Normally 6th rounders struggle to even make a team but with little competition in the way on a bottom 5 secondary, he should be starting halfway in the season.

IMHO, he's going to start in the opener.

I need someone from texans-gaf to do the sleeper/under the radar thing. I'm busy, but as long as the sleeper pick isn't Schaub's re-emergence i'll sign off.
