I completely disagree with you. I think Portis might be a top eight back, MAYBE, outside of Denver.
Apparently REALITY disagrees with you. Clinton Portis is rated within the top five by virtually every professional sports site that does such rankings. Plus, rushing for close to 150 yards and a score on less than 30 carries is a nice feat. But - hey! - according to you, Kevan Barlow and Travis Minor are no less a back!
Bailey is the top cover corner in the league.
Bailey is a great cover corner, one of the best, but as many Washingtonians will attest to, he can be quite inconsistent. He's definite a premiere corner (no doubt) but the best? Nah.
Orlandis fucking Gary and Mike Anderson ran for 1,500 in Denver, it's not the players.
Olandis Gary never rushed for more than 1,200 yards.
Ever. Mike Anderson never rushed for 1,500 yards or over, for that matter. He came close. Neither back rushed for over 700 yards after their first season. Clinton Portis has rushed for
over 1,500
two seasons in a row. He has a 5.5 YPC average for both seasons. Neither back can claim that.
And, yeah, Portis had a pretty good day today against a neutered Tampa defense.
Neutered defense? They lost Warren Sapp and John Lynch. Sapp had five total sacks last year and was adequate at best. Tampa Bay still has two of the best defensive linemen in the game in Anthony McFarland and Simeon Rice. The Bucs defense also ranks within the top ten by virtually all professional sports sites that do such rankings. You're braindead.
Let's see how he does over the season. There's no way to convince me yet that-
Where is that giant rolleyes emoticon?
Denver didn't steal this trade.
Finally. We agree on something.
(Not to mention the fact that Portis wasn't going to play if he wasn't made the highest paid back in the NFL, which he in no way deserved. Even in Denver he was the fourth or fifth best runner in the league)
Champ Bailey was also not going to play for the Washington Redskins? Your point?
Two teams swapped players that are within the top five in their respective positions that were disgruntled with their respective organizations. Both seem to have filled the holes, with Denver using a talent committee of players in Griffin, Tatum Bell and Garrison Hearts and Washington signing Shawn Springs and drafted Sean Taylor.
Good mutual trade.
