The thing is, next-gen is not defined by graphical prowess, but by timeline. 7th generation is considered PS3, Wii, 360, DS, and PSP. 8th generation (next-gen at the moment) is considered 3DS, Vita, WiiU, and whatever else is released by Sony/MS.
Arguing over specs is stupid as well, there is no 'bar' to surpass to be part of next-gen. Plus with Nintendo you pay for a certain 'portfolio' of first party games and third party games are icing on that cake. Pretty simple really.

Wasn't the original Xbox comparable to high end gaming PCs of the time? Like it was essentially between a Geforce 3 Ti200 and a Ti500?
I'm not hopeful that the next Xbox and Playstation will be matching the graphics cards of late 2013.
That's the thing that's ignored. Both the 360 and XBOX were comparable to modern PC performance at their launches. The WiiU, outside the tablet, is like a $75 PC. If they want to be quirky and different and unique and not about gfx, that's fine. But then don't charge so much for dated hardware (cc iPad Mini)
But then modern hardware revisions in desktop PC is no longer on performance. Sandy Bridge CPUs will be running games as well as Haswell. It's all about size and power reduction for them

How much is a used, low end FM1 PC? It's hard to price b/c there's nothing close to anything on the market that is the equivalent of the WiiU's CPU. The most expensive part is the sand they scooped off the beach to fab it
