The Eagles one isn't bad. I kinda dig the Jets one. A lot of them aren't so hot though.

The Cowboys main kickoff guy (Tyson Thompson) got injured yesterday with a broken ankle. He was injured after a late hit on the sidelines.

Az Hakim was recently released by the Lions. I remember him being a beast with the Rams, and all we need for him is to return kickoffs. Do you think he'd be a good fit in that position? Did he fumble a lot? I don't seem to remember.

I believe in making a stand.

I'm talking about a curse that has paralyzed Sports-gaf. A superstition that has plagued us to make foolish decisions . . . I'm talking about the Cloudy curse (I won't say the name, he's Cloudy here). I want whoever talks to Cloudy on IRC to talk to him here, or to see if a mod will unban him for Friday. I want him to pick the Giants vs. the Texans . . . the sucky Texans who if they faced the BYE week wouldn't be favored. I want an end to this crap now. I DON'T BELIEVE in the curse, and I'm willing to put up my tag, avatar . . . possibly my friggin GAF account on it. I want to hear Cloudy say the Giants are beating the Texans, then we'll see.

Not only no, but HELL no. Tempt fate with the Mets, leave the Giants out of your sickening game. You know full well that the Konex Curse extends past winning and losing and can mean season/career ending injuries for players. I wasn't here for the game, but I bet that Konex was cheering for Arrington when he ruptured his achilles!

I never tempted Met fate, those bums (by bums I mean bitter ChiSox-BoSox-Braves-Yankee fans) who kept typing "***** Mets" and saying it worked was bull. I DON'T BELIEVE and here's the way to prove it. I want SOME MOD to unban Cloudy and have him say Giants will beat the Texans. That or ColdBlooded33 (whoever talks to him on IRC) to post a screencap of his prediction of the Giants-Texans game. I'm tellin' you, I'll put it all on the line ... avi, tag, rep, maybe my ACCOUNT ... just to prove this Cloudy thing is not true. Giants will steamroll the Texans, and order will be restored so maybe I don't have to hear that stupid curse posted every 3 seconds.

But you like predictions?

Giants +14 over the Texans
Tiki rush yards > 100 yards
Texan QB sacked => 5 times

The Frankmanstradamus has spoken. Bring on the stinkin' curse, I tells ya!

If someone actually has the convo with Konex, and there is an injury to a Giant of 3 or more weeks, you will be bannished from this here forum.

Tom Brady is going to cash in whatever bits of his soul he find lying around to get Satan to help him out more than usual this week.
God I hate the Patriots.

It is not a good matchup for Indy (because of their run D), but you should never give in to evil.

Peyton, with the Messiah dying for our sins again (only to be resurrected next season), the burden falls upon you to vanquish this evil from our world.

7-7 last week, 7-7 overall.

Atlanta at Detroit
Cincinnati at Baltimore -- This is a really tough pick. Two very strong teams on paper that are inconsistent on the field. Which team will show up? I'm just gonna play the odds and root for the home team on this one.
Dallas at Washington -- As a Redskins fan my hopes for any post-season joy are predicated on them winning out, so I will be picking them to win each week for the rest of the season! :D
Green Bay at Buffalo
Houston at N.Y. Giants -- I really hope the Giants lose, but I doubt it.
Kansas City at St. Louis
Miami at Chicago
New Orleans at Tampa Bay
Tennessee at Jacksonville
Minnesota at San Francisco
Cleveland at San Diego
Denver at Pittsburgh
Indianapolis at New England
Oakland at Seattle -- Artificial crowd noise FTW.

Sorry Vikes Crew, the baseball manager said he's anticipating BJ starting next week.

I'm fine with that. He's the best we've got. I'm not ready to throw this season away to play the rookie just yet.

STEELERS NOTEBOOK:

The Steelers know that their backs are against the wall and that the most important thing for them is to take it one game at a time for the remainder of the season.

"It's a situation where we're taking this thing one week at a time," said head coach Bill Cowher. "Our focus right now has to go to Denver next week."

The Steelers are 2-5, while the Baltimore Ravens sit atop the AFC North at 5-2 and the Bengals are behind them at 4-3.

"Every game is a must win," said guard Alan Faneca. "All that matters is the game that's next. It doesn't matter five or six games from now. All that matters is next week."

* * *

The Steelers bread and butter always has been their running game, but when they needed one-yard the most, they couldn't get it.

With about three minutes to play in the fourth quarter and down by a touchdown, the Steelers had first-and-goal at the one-yard line.

Willie Parker was stopped for no gain up the middle. On second down, Najeh Davenport was knocked for a four-yard loss.

"That's everything right there," said tackle Marvel Smith. "When we get down on the one, that's something where it shouldn't even be a question if we're going to get it in there. That's a situation where everyone has to knuckle up and do their job."

A false start penalty by Davenport pushed the Steelers back another five yards, and before they knew it, it was third-and-goal from the 10-yard line and the Steelers would not get in the end zone.

"We were going backward instead of going forward," said Faneca. "We got stuffed."

* * *

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw a career-high four interceptions in the loss to the Raiders, two of them returned for touchdowns.

Nobody was more disappointed in his performance than he was after the game.

"I'm embarrassed by the way I played," said Roethlisberger. "In my wildest dreams, I didn't think I'd play this bad. It starts with me. I got to start playing better and right now I'm letting the whole team down. Our defense is playing good, our O-Line plays good, our receivers do good and it seems like one guy makes a mistake and that's me so I got to limit the mistakes and hopefully we can get back on track if I start playing better. When I play bad we don't do so hot, so obviously I need to pick it up and start playing better."

Oh, Ben.

It just amazes me that they can play a game like the one against KC, with winning score of 45. Meanwhile KC couldn't get more than 7 points on the board, and they're definitely a better team than Oakland, but we LOSE to Oakland. I mean, WTF? ROFLsberger was in bad shape, but the rest of the offense and defense wasn't doing good either.

And, for all us bottom dwellers, here's the current reality:

Here are the only four teams who have made the NFL playoffs after starting out with a 2-5 record or worse:

Year Team Start Finish Playoff outcome

1970 Bengals 1-6 8-6 Lost in divisional round
1990 Saints 2-5 8-8 Lost in wild-card round
1995 Lions 2-5 10-6 Lost in wild-card round
2002 Jets 2-5 9-7 Lost in divisional round

:(

Cowher and co. have made so many ****ing stupid decisions. They more or less deserve this. For one, starting Ben was the most retarded thing they could have done. He's basically dealing with three different problems. I'm sure he's not technically completely recovered from getting back into the flow of things after surgery. Then he got more surgery. Then he got a concussion. Common sense would dictate that you give the guy a break for a few weeks. The Steelers aren't making it to the playoffs this year, use Batch for the next 3 weeks.

the real question isn't who will win between the 49ers and vikings, but how many points old man BJ can put up on us by halftime. will it be:

20
30
40
50+

i say a modest 30-40 points by halftime. we will be losing 34-3 at halftime. then in the 2nd half we TURN IT ON BROTHER! 14-10 win in the 2nd half! we lose by a respectable 44-17!

edit - i can't add! even better score!

Ben is being smart and giving out the typical soundbytes.

He could have blamed his injury or the incredibly shitty play of a supposedly all pro offensive line or his receivers dropping the ball or the shitty field position or the lack of any consistent running game, BUT he did what quarterbacks are supposed to do and took responsibility for the team's loss.

This season is over, but this kind of behavior will pay dividends in the future (assuming Ben is still alive next year) when Ben's teammates will want to win for him.

Our team is not good enough and our schedule is too tough to realistically think about the playoffs.

The only things the Steelers can play for is respect and maybe spoiling a rival's playoff hopes.

Well their last game is against Cincy... :D

Even my fiance Rhonda is interested in watching that Colts/Patriots game (she's a Peyton fan).

Cincy's crappy run defense comin to play at Baltimore... oh yeah baby... come on down!

Stupid Power Rankings. There are MANY reasons the Bengals are playing poorly, but off the field issues have nothing to do with it.

One caveat: It has to happen BEFORE Sunday, and I want a screencap of the chat shown on the board. However:

a) With the injuries, how does "season-ending" turn into 3 weeks? You need to make that 6-8 weeks at least, 3 weeks is minor. Example, Carlos Emmons had been out 3-4 weeks prior.
b) I said I MIGHT put my account on the line. I wasn't sure yet but going by interest, probably not. I don't think I've seen anybody who wants to see it. At least the teams of lesser competition know not to mess with the BALLIN' G-Men.

I think I speak for all of my NFC East brethren, when I say: MAKE IT HAPPEN

No, if we're risking a game or an injury to a mods favorite team, you are putting your entire GAF life on the line. There is no might, you are.

And Tiki Barber out for 3 weeks from sunday means we don't have him for games against Chicago and Jacksonville, that's more than worth bannage.

But talking about said conversation in #ga will take on gigantic hilarious levels. Was Konex born with some sport related devil numbers on him or something, like 62? It's too much, man, TOO MUCH.

Konex bought a Roethlisberger jersey two days before his motorcycle accident. And Big Ben is related to God.

How do you think Tiki Barber or Eli Manning will fair against Konex's powers?

I like Tiki, I think he's a great player and professional (that's a word you really can't apply to a lot of superstar players these days), but the way Brandon Jacobs is playing, do y'all really need Tiki? Jacobs is like the 2nd coming of Bettis, only not fat. :O

If that story about Konex is true bionic, please ask him to buy a Mark Brunell jersey ASAP! :D

Problem with BJac is that he won't last long. He dodges a tackle and then seeks out the next smallest defender to run right into.

You shouldn't wish Kobex upon even your worst enemy (unless it is Tom Brady).

And don't be dissing Bettis! Muscle was always overrated anyways!

I haven't seen a lot of BJac, can he do anything other than run people over? Not to try to discredit him, but Tiki brings a lot of versatility. Not to mention that he gets ol' Gap Tooth all hot and bothered when he runs around in those tight pants.

Pats have got Indy's number this week and do I have to comment about the Giants? :D

also, Karakand can you up that TO Gif again? :>
