NFSU2's engines sound so damn real...(true story inside)

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
A couple of minutes ago I was fiddling around with this Pontiac GTO I have. No one was home so I decided to turn the volume up all the way, including the sub (I have a Logitech 5.1 setup hooked up to the PC). It was so loud that my walls were vibrating and the stuff on my table had shifted around. Anyways, point is...my dad came back home, comes up to me with a smirk on his face and was like "did you buy a new car?" And I just looked at him completely puzzled and he told me he heard engine sounds coming from around the house. I realized that he must've heard the game (I knew it was loud, but had no idea it was that damn loud) and thought there was a car parked in the garage. He assumed I bought a new car because it's been a popular choice of topic recently in the house. Hehe.

Anyways, yeah...hate on EA as much as you want ('cause I hate them too :P) but you have to admit that NFSU2 has the best sounding engine effects of any racer. It really is unreal. I'm still fucking around with just listening to the roar of these engines, it's bliss.

On that note (cool story, btw) I never really understood the importance of engine sounds in a racing game. To me, they just usually get in the way of the music. (Racing games HAVE to have awesome music, imho.)

Hah. I always turn off the music in any racing game, no matter how good. I have to hear the engine since I'm always playing with manual transmissions.

Well, for reference, I generally play futuristic racers, arcadey ones. If it has anything that even looks like a real car in it, my interest usually drops remarkably.

After test driving the '05 Mustang GT and playing it in NFS:U2, it's dead on. Seriously.

That car > *

Yeah, I own a 2004 Civic that looks exactly like the stock Civic in the game (minus the spoiler and sunroof) and the engine sounds are dead on.

Yeah, when I tried the demo on burnout 3, the sound of the lanevo really ook me by surprise. I may hate the game's concept, but dammit, I wanna play it just for the engine sounds.
