Yea, I've found this too. Not sure if it's the builds I'm playing, but it seems really slow at least for forwards, D seems standard.
Sniper was the only build that seemed to have any quickness to it. Im totally fine with it though because figure skating is much harder to do now it seems.

So does this seem markedly different than 15, from a gameplay standpoint? More towards sim or arcade? Better or worse?

Also, fuck them for not having a facial hair style with just a goatee (no 'stache) and no choice for gray hair. lol.
I chose Power Forward in the two games I played with Vis and the others. I'm not doing that again; had the game on my stick a couple of times and that build can't shoot for shit. Might do Sniper next time.
It might have just been me, but it felt harder to weave through traffic. Little bumps would knock me off of the puck.

Depends on how much you liked/played of EASHL in the past
After 3 games I feel its pretty much the same with some minor improvements

I would say not markedly different, but 4-5 games in, I like, for the most part, what I'm seeing.
With AI goalies, games have been fairly tight, realistic in terms of goals scored. The buffing of positional play (it's hard to get pucks to the net with traffic, d-men can knock pucks loose easier than before, with less end to end magnet puck dangles, etc.) and the class system seemingly making sure not everyone is a sniper with excellent passing, speed and hitting, all are adding up to what feels like a more realistic game of hockey. Hard to say so early, of course. But right now, I like the bumps and loose pucks and what seems like the game nudging us towards playing better positional and strategic hockey. Of course, it usually feels that way until glitch goals are discovered...
I'm not sure if I experienced some input lag early on or if I was just getting used to it (or if part of the way the class system works is your sniper takes longer to pass/deke), but yeah, it seemed like occasionally it felt a little sluggish, to the point where an obvious play would be there and I would struggle to make it happen, despite playing NHL pretty consistently since the introduction of the skill stick. I'll keep playing to see if it was lag or old habits, though.
But overall, I'm feeling positive enough about the beta that as long as no huge bombs are dropped prior to release, I'll probably pick it up and continue the NPP team, if folks are interested.

Is this mode similar to pro clubs on fifa?
As me and my friends love that gamemode so would no doubt wanna play the ice-hockey version of that.

Yup pretty much same thing with these exceptions
1- there is no progression to your attributes, whatever you pick stays the same from day 1 on
2- you cant adjust height and weight to alter attributes either, those are set to standards for each player clsss
3- no accomplishments to unlock or traits to equip, its simply playing the game
4- pro/rel works the same and there is a monthly knockout playoff tournament that every club qualifies for as long as you play a game in that month

The scripted stuff doesnt happen, but there have been exploit shots/tactics found in the past. EA hopes standardizing the classes/attributes will help them prevent this or at least update to address it faster than before

We are playing on PS4 right, only have 2 and are in 3rd period
I was actually, but there were like 16 people in the room and I couldn't get into a game and I just sat there while everyone else played. Didn't get into a game for like 30 minutes.
Right now I'm in a room, 6 people not playing just sitting here. Is there not a way to play multiple games with a club? Seems ridiculous.

Thanks for the game Shawn, man that feels so much different. Passes get cut off so much easier now. skating feels much different also, seems more responsive.

I bought every year from 08-13 but skipped 14 since it wasn't on current gen
Every decision EA has made with this franchise the last year or two has made me not want to give them my money.
If this year is basically back to what 13 was featurewise, and 1080p, I'll consider it. Was hoping the game would get a real next gen makeover but like MLB I guess that's still a future dream
But it sounds like EASHL impressions here are that it's not terrible. I like the elimination of skill points and attributes but I'll be honest the lack of custom jerseys is a big deal for me. I enjoyed making a dumbass team logo and shit, don't really want to just wear an Oilers jersey.
How many people can you have on a team at once? And can you still play all 6 positions including goalie?

It was a tough one! First period I thought we were the far better team. Lots of good setups and chances. Then they scored two fairly weak goals and after that it seemed like nothing was working anymore, hah.

For sure, seemed like the bounces weren't going our way. definetely had a few good setups in that one. And yeah two of those goals were trash lol.
