I think this was posted last year...? Might be wrong though.

I know I've seen 4 or 5 of you guys in the SimCity thread. NHL-Age region?

I've seem you, Stasis, Quick, BJ and myself posting, as well as some dude with a Habs avatar who doesn't post here. I'm down.

Wow, that was weird. That Felger guy is complete tool though.
Felger is a duechebag. He just happens to work the afternoon drive time slot on the radio station that carries the Bruins games, so he gets to pretend to know what he's talking about. He's a former football beat writer so that's really his area of expertise.

That explains a lot.

Why did Julien go off on Subban? I don't remember him doing anything egregious last game to warrant an attack in the media like that. Unless he's referencing past games for some reason.

Felger acts like an asshole for ratings. He went to the Skip Bayless school of sports talk. There was some Montreal radio blowhard as well going after Chara for attacking "poor" Emelin and his metal face. Every asshole is going to have an opinion on this game to drive in the ratings and feed of the fumes remaining.

I thought the game last night was fantastic. Like I said the other night, there are a few decent Habs fans on here. I just don't subscribe to the European Hockey idea. The NHL is popular for this specific brand of hockey. That's why we watch the sport.

People have been going off on Subban for a while. More people dislike diving than fighting. It's just common sense. He clearly flopped into the boards a few times last night. They have that silly "embellishment" penalty, but nothing is ever going to come of it.

I'm pretty sure Thomas went after him a couple seasons ago as well. So, he is still set in the mind of the current players.

I saw that replay of Subban getting hit behind the net and calling it an embellishment is a bit of a stretch. What about Marchand intentionally putting his stick in Prust's face? Bruins are far from the clean hitting, classy, "North American" hockey you subscribe to.

edit: around the 2:40 mark has the Subban "flop"

When did I say it was "classy"? Everyone was trying to get under everyone's skin last night. Thought it was pretty self-explanatory as the game progressed.

It's funny that a team that employs Marchand, Lucic and Horton sees itself as hockey's savior who will lead it back to its glory days of old. They actually believe that shit, all of them.

Patches said it best, had the habs lost and had they been in last place, there wouldn't be all this talk today. Most teams are able to keep these types of comments to themselves after a loss. Hot-blooded Bruins cannot.

Here's the Thornton hit on Subban:

Despite what the commentator says, he does peek over his shoulder and sees Thornton coming. Yes, it was a hard hit, but there is some subtle flopping and the dead giveaway is how he looks to the ref before he hits the ice.

With the amount of boarding calls we've seen this season, I think the ref would be in the right and was in perfect position to make the call if he thought it deserved one.

And its not like Subban hasn't done this type of thing before.

I think Claude's comments were as much about gamesmanship as Subbans flopping. If Subbans going to try and get those kind of calls, Julien is going to protect his players by calling him out.

Are you attempting to make some sort of point here?

How do the Bruins see themselves as "hockey's savior"?
How does Marchand or Horton fit in there, if so?
How do you know they believe this?
How could Pacioretty have said it best, when he knows absolutely nothing about sports talk?
How can you say that about Julien? He was your coach prior and Therrien was screaming all night.

...in other words...

Claude's always been like that. Not my favorite Bruins coach, but his appeal works well in this market. I agree with what he is saying, the context is going to be under a microscope, and he knows that.

I don't think Subban was doing anything extravagant. Didn't really bother me as that's what you expect out of him as a player.

Sanjuro, that's way too many questions man, and half of them are non-consequential Boston-speak.

The answers you seek are all in my post for you to discover.

Stephen A. Smith went on a huge rant about how the Blackhawks arent as impressive as the Miami Heat because there are "ties" in their winning streak. ESPN should be embarrassed, but likely doesn't give a shit because ESPN is all about NBA, Tebow, and to a lesser extent, MLB and the NFL.

It's not even the debate about whether Miami's streak is more impressive. In some ways, it is. Its the complete ignorance of a supposed "analyst" on the network's flagship show making himself look dumb.

Fuck ESPN.

:lol No, it isn't. The NBA is a complete joke when it comes to parity. Also, in the NBA, you can have 2 great players on your team and win a ton. You can't do that in the NHL.

Stephen A. Smith is a fucking moron though. He's like a conservative radio host in the sporting world. Completely full of shit and the only thing he knows how to do is try to talk louder than the other guy.
