Whatever team picks Murray is gonna cop some flack for trading him straight away though.

Either way, I'm just really keen to see where Nathan Walker gets drafted to.
I wonder when this goalie named dastardly Jerks gets drafted. I hear he has a wicked glove hand.

couldn't find the video you posted a while back =(

Dammit... First post on new Page.

Sounds like a challenge! I'll bring my #TeamJerks sweatah!

Completely off-topic: For the longest time I couldn't remember what other thread I used to see you in until today. It was the old Halo threads! We should play sometime!

Yeah, I used to be pretty big into HaloGAF but pretty much after 3 (which I still think is the best Halo MP as of yet) I kinda drifted away from it. I still love Halo but idk, I'm not into Halo as much as I used to be. So I rarely play Halo anymore these days, I'm more of a co-op, SP type of person now, MP games make me way to angry at points (I mean you see me in here get angry, I get worse online). But if you want you can still add me, GT is the same as username, I'm usually in a party with my friends I know in real life but if you ever want to do something, hit me up if I'm not busy or playing something else.

Dallas and Florida are ahead of Detroit and Pittsburgh in the standings.

Any Edmonton fan(or someone else) who can give me an update on Magnus Pajaarvis situation? He feels way to talented to be in AHL. Would he need a change in environment?

Pens 18-4-1 last 23 games. BEAST. Where's my Sid to show the haters that this is the best team in the last 40 years? I'd say best ever but I know a few people might have issue with that.

Seriously though I'm not a huge stat man or detail man, I usually just catch the games with friends... not sure if Pens have ever played this well in the past few seasons. Don't remember us being this beastly over a quarter season. Please make my wet dreams come true Sir Sidney.

I'm currently standing outside some midnight launch for Mass Effect 3 on my return home from the Jets game tonight. My throat is so sore lol. Was a great game to be at for a Jets fan. We needed this win so much. Good stuff! Next up is the Canucks on Thursday... I hope we can surive the Canucks at home...

I'm Commander Sheppard, and this is my favorite thread on NeoGAF....

Grabo has signed a 5 year extension with the Leafs.

Im waiting at the bus stop and bought a one-day one-dollar data pass just to come here and say: yes!

What do you think Grabovski is worth guys? I would be happy with $4.5 million per year but I have a feeling he is going to get overpaid.

Edit: CrazedArab go to the corner and have some quiet time!

Crazed/detroit-gaf, what do you think about Macdonald? is he getting lucky? is he actually as talented as his stats have showed? I remember you guys having 0 confidence in him a while back but he looks to be showing up big.

excited for the game tonight! retiring howe's jersey also.

$5.5 million per year for Grabo. Overpaid, but not by much I guess. I'm happy he'll be a Leaf for 5 more years but Im slightly disappointed in the cap hit.

with all of these crazy signings how in the world is anyone going to be able to stay under the cap. you're paying 5.5 mil a year for a player who puts up how many points? I know it's not all about points but this is getting bad

Sounds like they felt there wasn't any suitable replacements for Grabovski. And to be fair, is there any? Top six centers aren't exactly available. Unless you're dealing with Paul Holmgren.

The salary cap is what, 70 million now? Cap goes up, salaries go up. No biggie. Some people still seem to think we're in a 40 mil cap league.

We didn't sign him to that deal. Sure, we were dumb enough to trade for it, but we didn't sign him to it.

Also:

Grabo:
59GP 20G 25A 45PTS @ $5.5M

Pacioretty:
63GP 26G 23A 49PTS @ $1.625M

Thanks for comparing to a guy who spent like half of his season in the AHL before signing that contract.

He's RFA this summer and is going to get a big raise.......which will still put him at like $3.5M MAX, much cheaper than Grabo for similar producton, and he's younger.

I could have compared Grabo to Cole too. Cole is $1M cheaper and has 1 point more than Grabo. Or Desharnais, who is making minimum wage and is going to cross 60 points.

Yeah, great point. Grabo should have taken a 50% pay cut because some guy on an ELC is putting up similar numbers.

Or you could compare him to your #2C.

Pacioretty has one more year on his two-year contract. It's a bad comparison.

Erik Cole is a bad comparison too. He's a winger, not a centre.

How's the centre market this year?

I'm sure he'd fare a lot better if he weren't playing with scrubs like Matt Darche and Michael Blunden. The ONLY reason Desharnais gets Cole and Patches is to insulate him. Unlike Pleks, who can make due with bad linemates, DD is dead in the water without the twin towers on his wings.

Yeah, Solo's comparisons are a bit silly. Mentioning contracts that were signed before a player found his game makes little sense.

Doesn't mean Grabovski's contract is any less ridiculous, though.

Grabovski's playing with a guy on pace for 10 goals this year and is still going to have a career year. He's pretty much our entire second line.

Grabo at 49 points is on pace for a career year? I'll admit I don't follow the guy, but wasn't he like in the 60's or 70's last year?

Yeah, I think it's a bit too much but looking at other recent free agents that signed, exactly what he would get in the market.

Not exactly centres but Hemsky signed for $5 million, and Ruutu signed for $4.75 million. David Krejci could be a good comparison at $5.25 and he was RFA before he signed.

If anyone needs a top centre in free agency, Olli.. Jokinen is your.. man?

Desharnais:
66GP 14G 37A 51PTS @ $0.85M

lulz

You should stop posting until you start making reasonable comparisons. If you're going to criticize the Grabovski signing, you have to compare it to other pending UFAs. Even if your boy Grigorenko is putting up numbers like 50 goals and 50 assists next year at $900k per year and Grabovski gets 10 goals and 10 assists at $5.5 million per year, you still would have no place comparing two such contracts.

The conversation starts and stops with Plekanec if this is a discussion between Habs and Leafs fans. And I guess Cole too, which you ended up correctly touting, but that's lost amid all the ELCs and RFA signings you love to bring up.

Grabovski for 5.5 for 5 years = 27.5/5. Yikes. I would have loved him at 5.0/4.75 but I think that's an overpayment for him. And he's gined on for 5 years. The cap hit is ridiculous.

We better unload Connolly, Lombardi, Armstrong, Komisarek and a couple of other players. We need to, otherwise, it's going to be ugly mess when Kessel and Lupul's contract are up. I can see Kessel asking 6.5/7.5 easily and Lupul 6.5/7.0 and that's going to kill us.

I'm not going to complain too much as seeing Grabovski could have easily gotten more than what we paid him in the ufa market.

Cap might go down in next CBA

Most probably it will. Definitely.
