After 2 weeks of incessant ballwashing after his 4 goal game, TSN now doesn't even show or mention Matthews during their Leafs package. lolz

Thought you were sarcastically joking with your posts before but you seem legitimately invested in Matthews being a bust. Honestly makes you out to be ridiculous.

This is NeoGAF's NHL thread. If that bothers you then you need to be put on the IR with a ruptured hymen along with the rest of your bust ass team.

The season in one image.

Hopefully Brad Richardson recovers fully. He seems to be a pretty decent guy.

I don't get what's happening. Duclair has fallen off the face of the earth, Hanzal has done little, Doan is looking his age... Domi, Vrbata and OEL have been good, but with the goaltenders sporting save rates right at .9 it's hopeless.

And they're just boring, and make stupid pass after stupid pass. Rough year. sodvnasodvnsdlkarooo

Peter Karmanos is 'willing' to relocate the Hurricanes.

Rough translation from HF:

(98.5 Sports) - The owner of the Carolina Hurricanes, Peter Karmanos, wants to get his money back at all costs. According to what the 98.5 Sports has learned, he is now ready to sell the team and accept a relocation.

The owner wants to take advantage of the added value of his franchise in connection with the Las Vegas expansion in the NHL.

According to our information, the out-of-court settlement of the $ 100 million lawsuit brought by his three sons against him also accelerated the process.

Mr. Karmanos, long involved in the day-to-day activities of the Hurricanes, is no longer as part of the team, nor in the Raleigh business community.

A few months ago, a credible source said the owner of the Hurricanes had taken steps to find investor partners right here in Carolina. Steps that have proven unsuccessful.

According to ESPN, the Hurricanes ranked 30th and last in the NHL in terms of audience. They attract, on average, 11,189 spectators.

In their last four games, less than 9,000 tickets have found takers.

The team ranks 14th in the East with a 14-point crop in 15 games since the start of the calendar.

The Hurricanes receive the Canadian on Friday night

Take this with a massive grain of salt considering the only rumblings of this is in French media.

Either Detroit or Boston moves to Metropolitan
nhl-divisions.jpg

Boston won't move considering you are breaking up the natural Original 6 rivalries with the Habs, Leafs and Wings.

Apparently this radio station that is reporting it is the same one that fired one of it's longstanding hockey reporters for supposedly reporting that Therrien and Pacioretty weren't on good terms. So this report is probably bullshit.

Then what about Arizona if their team fails to secure financing? Portland? Hamilton?

Portland isn't happening unless the owner of the Blazers gets his head out his ass in regards to tenants other then the Trailblazers at the Modo Center. He's been very militant in regards to that.

That's not true, 91.9 fired Villeneuve, that's 98.5

But I don't know anything about the guy who wrote the article and I follow french media pretty closely so still take it with a grain of salt

Carolina -> Seattle -> Pacific Division

Arizona -> Central Division. Same time zone as Colorado.

Expansion Quebec -> Takes Carolina's spot

Either Detroit or Boston moves to Metropolitan
nhl-divisions.jpg

Dude, this is the perfect chance to get rid of the ridiculous "Atlantic" division that runs from Montreal to Miami.

Put Columbus and Quebec there and call in the Northeast: BOS, BUF, CBJ, DET, MON, OTT, QUE, TOR

The Metro then becomes the Atlantic: FLA, NJ, NYI, NYR, PHI, PIT, TB, WAS

Then what about Arizona if their team fails to secure financing? Portland? Hamilton?

Good call.

Arizona could be the Seattle relocation, that division stays the same. Las Vegas makes them an even 8. Then Carolina to Quebec.

Could expand to another spot in Canada but I doubt NHL wants to do that with their dollar hurting the league for the past few years. That said, if Ontario gets another then Detroit moves back to Central (suck it Detroit) and Ontario 2 takes their spot.

Ends up with:
Atlantic:
  • Boston
  • Florida
  • Montreal
  • Ontario 2
  • Ottawa
  • Quebec
  • Tampa
  • Toronto
Central:
  • Chicago
  • Colorado
  • Dallas
  • Detroit
  • Minnesota
  • Nashville
  • St Louis
  • Winnipeg
Metro:
  • Buffalo
  • Columbus
  • New Jersey
  • NY Islanders
  • NY Rangers
  • Pittsburgh
  • Philadelphia
  • Washington
Pacific:
  • Anaheim
  • Calgary
  • Edmonton
  • Las Vegas
  • Los Angeles
  • San Jose
  • Seattle
  • Vancouver

Does that look alright overall?

This is depressing. Who would've thought a team that won a cup in 2005, 11 years ago would be moving so soon.

Then what about Arizona if their team fails to secure financing? Portland? Hamilton?

I think Arizona will go to Quebec, Carolina is unknown for me, maybe Seattle

Issue is that Canadians living in Florida apparently prop up sales a ton when those Canadian teams play there.

Maybe switch Buffalo into the Metro, Carolina/Quebec to Atlantic. Detroit to the Central. Expansion Ontario 2 to Atlantic.

Hopefully Matthews puts up a 3-4 point night against the Habs on Saturday so you can watch that highlite package for the next 3 weeks.

Central has to get the Oilers or Flames. Pacific gets Seattle in 2020 and Vegas next year.

Do the Canadiens want the QC Hurricanes in the Atlantic? If not just keep them in the Metro.

It's like there's a direct link between Leafs fans' inability to take a ribbing and the Leafs inability to be a good hockey franchise.

I'm not even sure if Matthews is good enough AHL or the ECHL right now.

Send him to the junior team that owns his rights, the Everett Silvertips.

He's quickly turning into another Alexandre Daigle

yeah but "he's good without the puck" and he "does the right things"

Leafs fans are pulling the most blatant loser bust quotes of all time and don't even realize it

Call it the Dopey effect

Also, TSN and reams of Leafs fans didn't help by anointing him "the next one" before he ever played a game. Then he opens up with 4 goals and suddenly the media creates a legend.

It's easy backlash, really. I actually feel bad for Matthews. So much pressure in such an insane market on a bad team. It benefits Marner and Nylander though, as they're somewhat sheltered from it as a result.
