It's all true though. And he was only voted by his peers because everyone hated Subban and Gallagher was maybe too young and there wasn't a single good alternative because the leadership core on the team sucks. Patches sucks and he's easily one of the worst Captains in team history.
He's also on pace for 14 goals, is the biggest floater to wear the CH since Kovalev, and is a yes man, monotone waste of space.

well I mean Ovechkin scores 50 every year and they're still hot garbage and will never ever win a cup, the goal argument is valid but it's not the end all be all of how hockey works
I don't think he's a 30 goal scorer anymore. He stumbled to the line in the very last game of the season last year with a *gasp* empty netter, he's on pace for 14 goals, he floats, he isn't a hard worker, he doesn't battle, he plays with no fire. He's a lazy floater who has, or at least has had in the past, an elite shot. He's basically your bog standard sniper, and like most bog standard snipers, when he's not scoring he's pretty much useless.
Patches may score more goals than Gallagher or Radulov by the end of the season, but I still couldn't take anyone seriously who would take him over any of those guys.
That's pretty cool you know how everyone voted in the room, you definitely know better than the players themselves and if we're going to extrapolate numbers after 12 games why don't we name Mitchell the captain, he's on pace for 30!
