NHL Off-Season 2014 |OT2| - Dan Cleary

As someone who can't exactly make use of it, I look at Tinder in much the same way I imagine previous generations would look at our modern external hard drives filled to the brim with 1080p porn when all they have is beat up old magazines.

I don't know, looking for porn in the woods built character.

In one of the most productive off-season moves for the team I have picked my "JETS LOSE" gif for the upcoming season. Probably going to get some work.

Yeah, it's in.

Then I'm good. As long as I can play a season with my team and create a player to start in the minors, I'll enjoy it.

Prob gonna wait til Black Friday and snag it for $40 or less though. Destiny is gonna occupy a few weeks of my life starting 9/9 anyway.

PS4 Destiny NHL GAF needs to be a thing.

The past few seasons, yep. I was so OCD about roster control, that back in NHL 12, I burned the fucking bottom EA Sports ticker UI into my plasma cause I had the front end loaded for so long every night. I would set up every single teams line up for every single game played the night before and sim them, then actually play the Wings games. The worst was when players from the KHL or college would get signed, cause they weren't in the game and you can't create players during Season Mode so I would have to choose some scrub CHL'er to represent that player. So yes, I am crazy and have no life.

You poor, poor man.

I did the same thing. Especially on the PS2 games before I owned a PS3.

PS2 NHL 2k games I would painstakingly recreate the 1983 Islanders roster, player by player with an online reference guide. I regret nothing.

I spent 15-20 hours editing the stats on ESPN NHL (2003) because the goalies were insanely hard to beat. I reduced every goalie in the league down to the 20s and 30s, and then it played great. But that was my last hockey game.

Jesus fuck. This Zoe thing on gaming side is a perfect example of the reason I no longer willingly associate myself with the "gaming community" like I used to.

Maybe I'm imagining this, but at the core of the ostracized outrage (especially InternetAristrocrat's YouTube video) I sense a deeply religious forlornness. It's about an ethical question, no doubt, but doesn't really revolve around journalistic integrity, rather it's about women's place in society -- that feminism and other anti-gamer movements are thoughtlessly eroding! Accusations of a backwards and puritan mindset are quite common these days, but I think I'm not raising mine lightly here.

lmao what am i reading

So she allegedly slept with guys to get a better review out of her game or was it someone elses game?

Because I would totally do that, except not with guys. While drinking a case of Mountain Dew with Dorito covered fingers.

Ah reminiscing...

I spent so much time on NHL 2K. They kept it simple and just did the little things right. I don't give a fuck about jersey flap, but strategies worked and you could intentionally take penalties to stop a play (I fucking miss this...)

All I want to do is jump on goombas on the way to the flagpole, kill some aliens, and maybe find some treasure.

I wear a Rangers shirt for the first time in 2 months and we end up signing a sought after prospect? I take full credit.

My first ever PS2 game was NHL 2k5.

At the time, I really wanted NHL 2005, but I got that instead. I enjoyed it, but I switched over to NHL 06 and stuck with EA's series since.

What NHL 2k really needed was a good graphics team. Their models were weird and everything just looked dark and a bit washed out.

Ideally, I'd want a game with EA's graphics team (with some serious quality control) and NBA 2k's development team, with the EA's skill stick for the controls.

my first PS2 game was Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner, owned it before I owned a PS2.

I'm thankful to remain ignorant on all things gaming. No idea what the heck is going on, and am better off for that.

Mario Golf on the GBA was pretty cool.

And the NHL 2k PS2 games were the last time I actually really cared about hockey games. I'd love one on the Vita tho.

Winning Eleven 8 was the goat.

I bought WE8I for the Xbox, then imported one of these Dreamboxes to play it with a PS1 controller because it's a game that needs four shoulder buttons to control properly.. Using a PS2 controller caused unplayable lag, but a PS1 pad worked perfectly.

NHLPA 93 was the best. Goalies never moved over on wraparounds so it was all about picking the team with the fastest skaters.

There was this SNES baseball game that used robots and sci-fi. You could have a robot pitcher with incredible stats but in the 5th inning it would blow up and you'd be forced to pull it. I kinda regret trading it in for an actual baseball game so we could use a bat controller.

Crazy sports games were the best. NFL Blitz, NBA Jam, etc. Licensing and realism won out in the end though.
