NHL Playoffs 2016 |OT| Clear Eyes, Full Salt, Will Lose

Didn't have a chance to post last night after the games, so my thoughts on the Pens/Rangers game 1

Hate to say it, Rangers deserved a better fate in this one. They came out with a clear game plan and dominated the pens for the majority of the first. Pens looked terrible and not ready to play. They got bailed out by a 3rd string goalie and were lucky not to be down 2 or 3 goals after the opening 10 minutes.

Putting Hank back in after the injury lost the rangers the game. Letting up the goal I think killed a lot of their momentum.

Crosby can score in the playoffs. Rangers are fucked if he puts up points like he has down the regular season stretch.

Pens speed was evident in the later half of the game and was a factor on the rest of their goals.

CONOR FUCKING SHEARY. That kid was visible every time he stepped on the ice, I'm glad Sullivan recognized this and was bumping him up with Sid every now and then. These are the types of adjustments that Blysma would fail to make or even recognize. This resulted in a goal for the pens. He needs more ice time, kid can play.

Looking forward to game 2!

So a Pens sweep seems like a distinct possibility

I was gonna say so... looking grim for the Rags, but hey you got us the last two playoffs.

I'm thinking Pens ride Zatkoff to the 2nd round unless Rangers tighten up and win a game or two.

Fleury and Malkin make their triumphant return for Game 1 of round 2.

I wouldn't say any more so than it already was (it was always a distinct possibility). Raanta's been good for us all year, and he was good again last night. I don't think Hank would have stopped any of the goals Raanta let in last night either. So quite honestly, the possibility of losing Hank for a game or two, or even the series, doesn't really make much of a difference to me in terms of our chances. Certainly not as much as the media thinks it does, anyway. Would I prefer to have Hank in net? Of course. But I know Raanta is more than capable of pulling his weight back there. It's the rest of the team that needs to do the job, and only about half of them were really doing the work last night. And even with just that, we still out played the Penguins for the large majority of the game and just had a few backbreakers go against us. So it's doable. Extremely difficult, but doable.

As I thought last night, it was Hank who demanded to stay in to finish out the first in order to keep Raanta from entering the game cold.

Hank has some swelling around the eye, but they think it's "not too serious." He's seeing a specialist today, and we'll know tomorrow if he can play on Saturday or not. He will not play if he can't practice tomorrow. Right now they're leaning towards the expectation of Hank playing, with Hellberg being called up as a precaution in case they "get some bad news."

Ryan McDonagh is still day to day but ruled out for Game 2. Meanwhile, AV is considering lineup changes, with the implication seeming to be McIlrath in for Girardi. God I hope he has the balls to make that move.

JT Miller and Tanner Glass were also getting some treatment today but should be fine. JT was shaken up by a blocked shot while Tanner Glass of course tanked a puck to the face.

why is a Blackhawks fan calling someone out on bandwagoning? Marvie do you not realize your team has the second highest bandwagon per 60 percentage in the league?

and who the fuck would bandwagon the Blues

Malkin just put several shots in a row past Fleury. So, is that the good news or the bad news for the Penguins?
