In what universe should that have counted, didnt Dubnyk clearly push the goal backwards which was the only reason the puck went in instead of on top? So weird, but I dont know the rulebook phrasing.

The explanation that they just gave on NBC is that, according to the league, the puck went in before the net completely went off its moorings, which does seem to technically be true. The yellow posts were still in the ice when it slipped under the bar.

It still seems insane, of course, but at least it's something resembling an explanation.

No, if you look at it, he's basically sandwiching the puck between him and the post. If he moves any direction, the puck drops and goes in. It would have been a goal no matter what, so by popping the goal off the pegs, he had a chance of it getting turned down.

An odd fucking goal, but a legit one.

What pisses me off is that it was called no goal on the ice.

Then they review it for over five minutes and then come back and definitively say it was in net.

How the fuck is it definitive if there is this much controversy over it and it took that fucking long to reach a conclusion?

What a complete joke.

As much as I enjoyed that goal, I have to admit it would be pretty dumb if it decided anything in this game. Stupidest shit ever :lol
