They are referencing THN source. Don't post 'Hockey fans celebrate', just don't. They're having a meeting. Do I think the odds are positive that the season will get uncancelled? At this point I actually do.Fei said:You can see it as breaking news on teh bottom line of ESPN2. Hockey fans celebrate!

Am I the only one who doesn't want this to get done?
But PLEASE stop posting stuff like NHL IS BACK!! PLEASE. The next person who does so won't be able to post in this thread in a while. I'm anxiously awaiting updates to the situation, and I don't want to have to read posts riddled with false hope all over again.
I think the NHL would be in good shape financially if that were agreed too..Drensch said:My local news is all over it. "NHL is back! Well that's great, they'll be able to play Denis for about 10 games this season, and maybe even rent Rick Nash for a period or two! They could call it Nash Night!Drensch said:$5 million cap. Blue jackets are being ordered to report for camp. ETC, ETC.

That's not an intelligent way of looking at it. Obviously it's positive that they're stepping in, as they're both true ambassador's of the sport and want what's best for it, but saying "Greztky and Lemieux are going so something good has to happen!" is just ignorant. It's a good sign! But it does mean something good is going to happen.tralfazz said:I'm looking forward to the possibility. TSN Sportscenter had Gord Murphie, Bob McKenzie, and Glen Healy (via phone) talking about the possible deal at the top of the show. Right after Bob McKenzie said that there are rumors coming in that Gartner stepped up in the process and is now the defacto leader, Goodenow wanted nothing to do with the process involving acception a cap, and isn't involved in these discussions, Glen Healy COMPLETELY contradicted him, saying Goodenow is heavily involved, and Gartner hasn't done much at all.dem said:Bob Mckenzie: "according to the rumors, Mike Gartner is the new defacto leader of the NHLPA".

Me too, he's REALLY getting of my nerves.calder said:I guess I'll accept a ridiculously shortened season if it meant that Glen Healy would stroke out on TV and slip into a drooling catatonic state from being *so wrong* about everything for the last 5 months.
You can have optimism. Hell, I have optimism, I think a deal is going to be reached this weekend. I just don't want to hear stuff like Gretzky and Lemieux are at the meeting, this can only mean good things! Because that's wrong. Just because those two are at the meeting does not make it a sure thing. Not at all. I'm cool with people giving their opinion and saying they think a deal will be reached. I just don't want to hear people saying ESPN SAYS THE SEASON IS UNCANCELLED, THE SEASON IS UNCANCELLED FOR SURE, THE NHL IS BACK, etc.tralfazz said:Bro, I like your show and I admire your style but please ease up a smidge. I understand and agree with the policy of let's not get crazy and proclaim game on when it ain't but now we can't have a little optimism without being labeled ignorant? We all want the season.
Kypreos and Healy just don't want to admit that their former collegues have caved to the owners.BigJonsson said:Kypreos and Healy say that Goodenow is in power and that this isnt done yet

I remember reading somewhere that the new deal won't come into effect till next season ... you know, if there's a deal.Maxwell House said:I wonder if the cap starts out at $45 million right away? Suggestions that a deal was reached to end the NHL lockout were at best premature and at worst dead wrong, multiple sources told TSN late Friday night.
On Saturday, league sources told TSN that the NHL may be prepared to make another offer to the players, but that it would contain only "cosmetic" changes to the $42.5 million dollar deal that was presented as a "final offer" to the players on Tuesday night.
One down..Malakhov said:The post and WFAN NY Radio are reporting that union chief Bob Goodenow has been excused from the negotiating process by the NHLPA.
How can the deal even be ratified now w/o them? If it can.. wouldn't that force them to resign?Malakhov said:Farhan Lalji on TSN said that Bettman was sent back to the league offices after a breakfast meeting with Daly and some ownership groups. Bettman is not part of the talks either.
So no Goodenow and no Bettman.
