Excellent!

BTW, you should have all the drops you need to evolve Griffy, but it's possible you missed them. The Familiar Retreat guy hands them to you if you talk to him just before the boss area of Mt. Smokey.

The next boss is roughly the same in terms of difficulty. If you find you're not enjoying it, there's a quick way to level up after you leave the next area - I've got a tutorial post on Toko hunting several pages back.
Yeah I got those drops, but I have way too many star familiars :p Got him evolved now though.
Also, I seem to get a lot of Planetdrops but have never seen a planet familiar. What's up with that?

Also thanks, defeated that boss. Watching mam when leaving the "area" was... Interesting

So I grinded a whole heap of levels from Tokos, and was able to max out familiars before metamorphing them. Currently, I'm working on maxing out level 2 familiars.

I might put a halt on the level grinding so I could do the story. I need to get to that damn casino so I can gamble all my money in the hopes of getting jumbo drops.

Woah what the hell?!

I just defeated
_____Shadar
and I thought the game was over. But now
Marcassin has joined my party? Is there any point in using him or should I stick to the other 3?

This is probably my game of the generation!

Oh hell no. There's absolutely no reason to ever look at
Swaine
ever again, except for when you're farming items. He was almost always dead weight to begin with, and with the appearance of
his brother
, it's only magnified.

So what's everyone's favorite themes in regards to music? My favorite has to be
Hamelin
, with
Al-Mamoon
as a runner up.
Hamelin
instantly made me think of a Star Wars Imperial type theme.

Well I finished it at around 40-41 hours. It wasn't that bad when it opens up with some travel options and the story becomes focused on the bad guys instead of the light hearted stuff, but the 20 hours of linear stuff before that is a huge drag.

Now I begin the grind of clearing up these post game trophies! I doubt I'll do the 200 familiars or the alchemy stuff though, that's too much of a grind.

Great, that's what I was thinking but I wanted to make sure just in case
he's a temporary party member.

My favourite has to be the theme that plays in most (?) of the dungeons. But holy crap all the music in this game is so, so amazing. I know that was to be expected with Joe Hisaishi composing, but still.

When can you catch a Dinoceros? I don't think I've faced one yet but I might have without noticing.
I am currently
about to rid the last of the 3 cities of manna.

You're a ways past it. Their first form is in a place that you're never called to go to.

Just finished the main story, really enjoyed it, final boss was pretty hectic.

The only thing that let's this game down is the AI, if they make a sequel I sure hope they fix it.

Also what happened to some of the spells,
warecat and quake
?

You can find them in the cliffs above and below the desert area.

You also get a ticket for one by beating the game.

Purely for Wizard's Companion completion rate.

That's for a Sapdragon, though, right? We're referring to the Dinoceros.

I was talking about that too, but I could be wrong.
Manhole
gives you that, doesn't it? I remember getting it, but I'll check tomorrow and make sure. Didn't use tickets yet.

If I finish my work tonight, might start this. I've been waiting for a while but received the game when I'm pretty busy.

What should I know before starting the game? (I installed the game last night before I went to sleep already)

Got to be one of my favorite games this year.

Ended the main story at lvl68 with Oliver's team as Dynamite, Splatterhorn, Demoliceros.
IMO Best JRPG this generation, I hope Level 5's next game is just as stellar.

You can catch them as soon as you get
Tengri.
They are all on the clifftop/plateau areas in the Shimmering Sands. The largest surplus seems to be around the Temple of Trials. There's one spot in particular that's excellent for them. Let me know if you care to bother with them now.

They were a bit on the frustrating side for me to catch, as they seem to be relatively uncommon spawns to begin with. So I ended up spending a little while trying to catch one before moving on. Eventually, though, I got one of my very own, though it took somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 encounters.

Some people get lucky and tame one on the first try.

Hmm I'm thinking of finishing the game without it. I don't want to make it too easy, and I already think I'm a bit over-levelled.
Thanks though!

Damn at the Horace question in the Cove...I got tired of trying stuff and went to see the solution and I would of never got it otherwise...I was looking at the Egyptian like picture and whats written on top but that was too long to fit in the letter thing, then I looked at the old Wizard with a few words coming out of his mouth hehe...I have the answer but I have no clue where in the book it is lol...

Now that I can,I am going to switch and try and catch some familiars for a few hours tomorrow before going on with the main story...

I just beat. I think it does a lot of great things but I don't think I'm a big enough fan of JRPG's to truly love it. I still had a blast with it.

Went to pick this up at retail today, but it was sold out at three stores I went to. So I bought the digital version on PSN---- HOLY SHIT 22 gigs! I figure if I'm playing in 48 hours that'll be a miracle

Especially with how inconsistent PSN download speeds can be. Downloading Okami HD was half a nightmare on its own.

It's on that page, written on the wizard's robe.

Similar thing happened to me...went to best buy and they were sold out...luckily the gamestop nearby had 3 copies left....the GS rep even said that their first shipment completely sold out and they got a pretty big second shipment that sold fairly fast as well...

Couple questions for my Kuni brothers since I've seen conflicting information.

1. What exactly does magic attack boost? Is it all spells that have an element? Example: Mighty Mite has Slash N' Burn (fire element listed) but it seems like it's based off physical dmg to me.

2. What do the icons behind tricks mean? I've seen a sword, a sword inside of a shield, and a star. This where it gets confusing because I was told tricks that have a sword behind them are considered physical (regardless of element) and are based off attack power--while tricks with a star behind them are magic and based off magic attack.

I'm seriously confused as hell cause I've been basing all my feeding habits off this. Someone who knows wasap help me out <3

that 9K XP dude looks like a green guy holding a wooden staff or whatever that is. Outside Perdida is the best place imo. You'll know which they are because they run away from you no matter what.

So there's supposedly a hidden area that unlocks somewhere after you beat the game. Does anyone know where it is? Using IGN's wiki I found a
forest area between ding dong dell and the desert area but there's no way for me to land anywhere around the area, and the ps3trophies guide said the bonus area unlocked "south of the starting town" so I'm guessing this place is it
