Nicolas Cage Wants To 'Do A Reconceive' For 'Ghost Rider 2’
Last we heard from the "Ghost Rider 2" camp, Sony and the star of the 2007 film, Nicolas Cage, were still looking for a writer and director to helm the sequel. A well-known comic book fan, Cage hasn't been shy about sharing his thoughts on where the studio should go for the sequel and his plans to reprise his role as Johnny blaze, the human side of the Spirit of Vengeance.

While discussing his role in the upcoming CGI/live-action family film "G-Force" (Cage will voice one of the movie's guineau pig heroes), the actor told MTV News that he's looking less toward "sequel" and more toward "reboot" for the next "Ghost Rider" film.

"I would like to do a reconceive," Cage told MTV News. "I would like to go in a whole other direction, and I think that's what they're talking about."

According to Cage, he's still leaning toward a "Ghost Rider" movie that brings the skull-faced Marvel Comics hero to Europe for a team-up with Catholic Church. Oh, and there will be significantly fewer galloping horses and six-shooters in the follow-up film.

"I would make it much less of a Western and more of an international story," said Cage of the direction he'd take the character for the next film.

What do you think of Cage's comments about the next "Ghost Rider" movie? Think they should do a straight sequel? A reconceive? Sound off!

I don't care enough about the Ghost Rider character to be concerned. I still haven't seen the 2007, nor do I plan to. I guess I just came into this thread out of curiosity. :lol

Cage really has been hammering out films in the past decade. It seems like the last couple of years we get to see him in something every couple months. As soon as the dvd for one movie is coming out, the next one is about to hit theaters.

Forget Ghost Rider, we need an Iron Fist movie.

International? Sounds like Cage wants to be more of a Batman / Ironman superhero - than the sort of cult antihero that ghost rider probably inherintly is.

Knowing was the worst move I've seen in the last few years.
It was my favorite movie I've seen in a while. Though I can understand people hating it. (kinda like Signs).

I agree in a way : super hero movies should be about the beginnings of the hero and nothing else. So if they're making another movie, why not having a reboot of the same story.
Having the main character discover/create his "powers" and get to find his place in the world is fun, after that it's only "good guy Vs bad guy" again and again.
I liked Spiderman 1, Batman Begins, Iron Man, Daredevil, and even Ghost Rider was ok to watch. But I see no point in watching the sequels with an already defined hero.

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
He can call it a "reconceive" but all those ideas are exactly what was talked about for the straight sequel.

Besides, this is Cage who once said that all he needed to do Ghost Rider 2 was a phone call.

The first movie was absolutely horrible. Hopefully the second is COMPLETELY different.
Well, the first one existed. Only one way to make the second one as different as possible.

He's really not a terrible choice for Ghost Rider, to be honest, though they could do better. I'm wondering how he'll be in Kick-Ass when that comes out.

If the Ghost Rider franchise were to be rebooted, Cage would have to have nothing to do with it. Nobody will think of it as a reboot if the same actor is portraying the hero. It was awkward enough rebooting Hulk a few years after they made the first movie, and that didn't even have the same actors.

In the new Ghost Rider, Nicholas Cage, playing himself playing somebody else, of course, has to put clues together to solve a mystery! New idea over here!

Didn't they spend so much money on the flame effects that they ran out of budget to do the rest of the movie?

I don't know about the rest of you but I would actually like to go see a ''re-conceived'' version of Ghost Rider. After what Cage has said, that's pretty much admitting he messed up and would like another chance.

It really isn't his fault it sucked. Screenplay writers provided the dialogue, and he acted them out. And improvising just wouldn't help with that much shitty dialogue. Have you heard the things they said in that movie? Ridiculous.

Look at what they've done with TDK, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and are about to do with Thor..Norse god of thunder!

I'd love to see a rebooted, more mature/realistic Ghost Rider.
