Nicolas Cage always gets so much hate. I understand that he's in a lot of bad movies, but he's had some really great performances. Adaptation is my favorite.

Nic Cage gets a lot of shit for his movie choices from the past decade, but for every one or two real piles of shit he's been in, he's done a pretty damn good movie. Adaptation, Matchstick Men, Weatherman, Lord of War, even National Treasure wasn't bad for a popcorn flick. Ignoring his shitty movies (hard, I know), that's not a terrible filmography for a decade's work, at least a worthwhile movie every two years. He just needs to learn when to say "no" to a project.

I've always found him to be really watchable, regardless of the movies quality. Wicker Man and Ghost Rider are pretty fucking funny. Adaptation and Lord of War are legitimately good films, too. He's terrific in Adaptation.

Knowing wasn't as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. And even then, the movie's problems weren't necessarily with Cage, but with the godawful explanation for everything that was happening.
He's made a couple extremely bad movies, like Next and The Wicker Man, but nothing to warrant as much hate as he gets. Ghost Rider wasn't bad because of Cage either. I kind of liked his performance in it. The way he handled the initial transformation was actually pretty good compared to what Mark Steven Johnson wanted to do with it. He was the problem with the movie, not Cage. They bring in a new director with a new writer, this could be good.
