That's the nature of the medium. A third is a third.
And a score is a score.

Personally, I would still be all up in this game even if it got Drakengard 3 scores, as long as those scores were based on finishing the damn game.
And I loved D3 despite the horrible technical flaws (thanks Deadly Premonition studio!)
The reason I care about the metascore at all this time because I actually do know people who would buy this game if it was 90 instead of 89 and I want more people to get into what I'm into. I want more people to talk about the Drakengard/Nier universe with that got into it through this game.
He's supposed to give his feelings of the game, and his feeling was "not worth completing."He didn't though, he didn't finish it. He didn't do his job. It's a job, you are forced to do things for monetary value, one thing you don't like doesn't mean you can half ass your job.
ok, I have played 5-6 hours now.... my thoughts so far: WOW..... damn are the boss battles intense.

True authorship is a rare thing to find in games, yet its very present in Nier: Automata. Like Yoko Taros past work, Automata challenges gaming norms through narrative structure, subjects discussed, and even how the nature of games can be used to convey ideas that other mediums cant. In the past, appreciating these things meant accepting middling or even poor technical and mechanical aspects. With Nier: Automata, far fewer excuses are necessary. Its a bold, stylish, and intelligent game that leaves an indelible mark.
This thread is a shambles over ONE poor review. Cool off and PM a mod to unlock it when the last wave of reviews hits and we can try again.
Btw Metacritic is now at 88
That's messed up, diminishes the impact for plot heavy game.Beware, the Slate review (well-written as it is) literally begins by revealing the final ending's final twist.
Its been at 88 for a while now...
I don't know why reviewers have to spoil tons of stuff right in their reviews, what if people want to find out stuff for themselves?

PM'd a mod to unlock this since there's only been one review on Metacritic in the last 3 days, and the Easy Allies review is up.

Not a mod, but obviously don't repeat the same case of going after one negative review and certainly don't start linking to the reviewer's twitter or whatever.

Really want to see this get goty but it's up against Zelda, horizon and red dead 2.

Jim Sterling just posted on Twitter that he is review is coming soon.

He seems to have a blast playing the game if his tweets are any indication.

Who the fuck cares about the MC average. Christ. Really.
As a huge Yoko Taro fan, I obviously want the game to get reviewed well, but honestly I don't getthe all up in pitchforks mentality that people get into between an 88 and 89 or an 89 or 90. Numerical scores should be meaningless, a review should be spelled out and explained. Review outrage culture so silly nowadays.Obviously a a whole fucking lot of people if you follow review threads which you obviously do. Is this a rhetorical question?

Damn good review to open up the thread again!
Taro in a nutshell (quote that good its worth requoting)
Nier Automata is awesome and probably supercedes Bloodborne and Witcher III now as my favourite game thus far this generation.
What's funny is that while I was always going to play this at some point, I had no intention of gettibg it anytime soon or maybe even this year. But the demo blew me away. It's been a years, maybe even a decade since a demo has had that affect on meWitcher 3 was my favorite by and far this generation, and I'm really, really, really close to agreeing with that statement. I'm giving the game more time to sit in my brain before I make that call, but it's getting close to toppling my beloved Witcher 3.
If Bayonetta 2 didn't get goty in 2014 this never had a chance.Really want to see this get goty but it's up against Zelda, horizon and red dead 2.

I'm already happy, just want to see something niche get it for once.If Bayonetta 2 didn't get goty in 2014 this never had a chance.
Why can't be happy with 8.8

How does the combat stack up against Vanquish, MGSR, Bayonetta?
Bayonetta to me was incredible smooth in how you dodged attacks. It felt so good. Been looking for combat like that ever since!

It's good, but it's not Bayonetta.
