"The gyro-based controls don't fit with 3D. Playing with the gyro controls is fun, but when the 3D is turned on for this, it's a bit difficult to play."
such a useless quote. we know this. what we want to know is what makes the game good.

Quotes from the famitsu reviews (like the ones before, but more detailed) posted by 1up:

- Super Street Fighter IV (9/8/8/9, 34 points): "The way you can use the touch screen to launch even charge moves in an instant is actually kind of revolutionary for the series, a change that I think could lead to some neat new tactics. Despite that, the controls can still be very difficult at times, even with the ability to redefine buttons. Whether you're able to overlook that will define your overall the opinion of the game."

- Dynasty Warriors 3DS (9/9/8/8, 34 points): "Nothing has changed much in the DW formula, but switching between characters while shouting out orders to your side gives this game a new sort of real-time strategy feel. Going 3D makes it easier to gauge positioning between yourself and enemies, which makes the game easier overall."

- Nintendogs + Cats (10/9/9/10, 38 points): "The sheer fuzziness factor on all the pets is too cute. Watching them totter around in 3D is so calming, and the act of petting them has much more of a you-are-there feel to it. Keeping a dog and cat together gives you a huge number of must-see moments, and the ability to interact quickly and easily with other pet owners is great...The play style hasn't changed much from the old game, but Nintendogs + Cats still has plenty of new surprises," one of them wrote in this week's new issue. "The 'cute' level of the puppies and kittens has really shot up from the first one, and just watching their expressions and mannerisms is a great stress relief."

- Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle (8/8/8/8, 32 points): "The simple interface and screen setup is similar to the rest of the series and put together very well. The animated parts are in 3D and there are a variety of new features and game gimmicks, but the play style hasn't changed much. It's a natural progression for the series, 3D support included."

- Super Monkey Ball 3DS (9/8/8/7, 32 points): "Having three different games to enjoy is great, although the Monkey Fight and Race bits are rehashes of other titles and not all that exciting. The core Monkey Ball game, though, uses 3D in a variety of gimmicks and traps to make the whole experience a lot more impactful and exciting. It's simple to learn and highly addictive."

- Ridge Racer 3D (8/8/7/9, 32 points): "The courses are full of floaty jumps and other gimmicks to get you inside the game more. Racing across them is pretty fun, and the drifting (which tends to throw off beginners in other games) is simple to pull off. The rival cars you race in Grand Prix mode and so on are pretty tough, though, and I wonder if the game's still too hard overall. A difficulty selection would have been nice...Ridge Racer 3D brings you back to the Ridge of a simpler time -- which sounds like a slam, but it's true. From the competition to the drifting, it encapsulates what makes racing games fun really well."

What makes it worse than the other Musou games?
Bad 3D - doesn't look natural at all, almost like sprites floating in front of a background.
Bad framerate - seriously.
Bad graphics - jaggies, shitty textures and poor effects.

The framerate makes the game bad to play alone, the other issues really negate the point of putting it on 3DS. It seems like a rush job to cash in on launch suckers, rather than a proper Musou effort.

This does not answer the question!

yeah it does no one is going to line up 48 hours before when they have a pre-order

even places without pre-orders shwould still be 8-12 hours pre store opening for lines

...They're Famitsu reviews. They're about as informative and meaningful as "I like shorts! They're comfy and easy to wear."
when we start getting real hands on impressions on saturday they'll become meaningless, but until then they give me cause for optimism but trust me, i'm not forgetting the source.

VOOK

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.

It's a hardware launch, not Star Wars. People don't wait in line longer than overnight.

With the pre order tokens they give out though, is there really any need to line up?

There are some stores that didn't do pre-orders, for which people will simply line up. It takes a bit of legwork to figure out a game plan, otherwise it's just a crapshoot.

like Star Wars has any pull anymore, did you mean Twilight Saga?

Just wait 'til Episode IV!
Yes, I know.

That's really bad to hear. I like the on the fly general switching and the dialouge choice stuff going on though so i'm really conflicted.

If this game functions well with the slide pad and is any where near as good as Super Monkey Ball (GC), it's a definite buy for me.

Figured I'd ask this here, I'm sure it's been answered before: how will transferring accounts/downloads work? I'm looking to sell my DSi before the 3DS comes out, will I be able to link my 3DS to my Club Nintendo account and have everything carry over (points, games from DSiWare) or do I need both handhelds together to transfer one to the other? Not even sure if this is possible at all, it's Nintendo so you never know but I figured it's worth a shot.

It will likely be system to system, but we don't know for sure yet.
I'd just hang onto my DSi for now.

Transfers won't be available until the eShop is up in May, so we won't know the details probably for a while.

those foldable plugs on the charger are nice. is that japanese only?

It's like that in the US too for the DS chargers.

Man, the headphone jack is right in the middle of bottom, right? That's gonna suck since I like to rest my 3DS on my stomach while I lay down.

antonz said:
My US DSi came with that exact charger with the plug foldable

Yup, DS, DSL, DSi... Oh! And the GBA SP.

Might be on American as well (my friend has an American travel plug which can fold like that). Can't see it working with a UK plug :(
Curse you earth wire!!!
and also EU plugs are pretty sturdy. US plugs seem a bit more flimsy and foldable....

...or what Gravijah said.
