Being able to play all my DS games without having to constantly swap cartrages and take them all with me wherever I go is really useful functionality. I hope I can do that again with the 3DS atleast for my DS game library.
Nuclear Muffin said:It's a hard comparison to make since it takes a completely different approach to its visuals than the SGX does. It's not going to be as powerful obviously but since it has hardware fixed function shaders and shadow maestro (I'm sure that's built into the hardware), it can do a lot of the effects that the 360 & PS3 do for free.

donkey show said:It's not so much each card as it is the 6 mini-games that come preloaded in the system.
- target shooting game
- a mini golf-esque game
- fishing game
- 3d paint game
- picture viewer with character cards
- picture viewer with your Miis
The only time you'll really need specific cards are during the picture viewer mini-games where you move the specific characters around your desk, kitchen, toilet, etc. The Mii one only uses the ? mark card from what I've messed around with so far.
The other games you can use whatever cards you have. The first 3 games all end in fighting a dragon using the gameplay technique the mini-game is based off of. Really fun stuff.
And just killed the battery again to shut-off. With on and off wi-fi action for about 30 minutes and everything else running at full brightness, 3D, volume, I got about 3 hours and 45 minutes. This was of course with a smattering of SSFIV online battles, more AR games, playing some DS games for about 20 minutes, and again more SSFIV but just single player.

Basically the premise is: Your Mii gets kidnapped by Boos, and you have to go around gathering people by streetpass to rescue him.
When you streetpass someone, they show up in the game, fight monsters like a command based jrpg, and then run away when the boo attacks. When you win a fight (took me 3 people to beat the first boo) you get a treasure chest. The first one was a Mario hat I could put on my Mii.
Fuck yeah.

i really liked SM64 but the controls were really clunky. now that this problem is gone it might be a good time to get the game out once again

Sounds awesome, if you live in a big city. If not, you are pretty much fucked lol.sprsk said:BTW, "Street Pass Legend" or whatever rocks.

Oh, that's cool then. But still, it would be neat via streetpass. Even I live in Munich/Germany I don't have much hope for that lol.sprsk said:You can use game coins (from walking with your DS) to enlist heroes to come fight for you. Without the need for streetpass.
Shoogoo said:I had one in hands earlier today at a local shop. I found the upper lid wasn't much sturdy, I hope it doesn't break easily.
Other than that, it's a cool system, don't know yet if I'll buy it day one or wait for a new design

Why would you do that? said:Wait... So the analog pad will be analog in Mario 64 DS? The video never tried simply walking, or going in a direction not in one of the 8 ways.
I'm pretty sure you can run around in circles with the D-Pad in 64DS. It's just hard to do because it's a D-Pad...

Green Scar said:Finally, now there is no excuse to recognise SM64DS as the superior version of the game.
i bought it, and my initial impressions are extremely positive. definitely the most impressive 3D i've seen on the system to date, and the new camera angle makes it feel totally new (though the standard camera makes it feel exactly like standard pro evo in your hands, if that's what you want). i think it's the system's killer app if you're at all into football.cw_sasuke said:So no one bought Winning Eleven 3DS ? Ahh, internal art too. It's almost the return of the jewel case days.GCX said:http://i.imgur.com/7736J.jpg
Props to Nintendo for making some cute use of those holes.
No reason that shouldn't work.Gahiggidy said:Any reason two 3DS' could not see the same marker cards? Only difference would be displaying them at different camera angles.
Man! Imagine the 2 player games they could come up with this tech. Playing smash bros. on your kitchen table would be surreal.
It's no big deal. You can play NES or SNES games on Wii's Virtual Console with an analog stick, too.Vinterbird said:What? Link? Because I can't believe that they would write the DS emulator to work with the slidepad.
Smiles and Cries said:CVX already confirmed it he played many games including Mario64 and loved that Mario could run in circles now
BudokaiMR2 said:Yeah I ended up deciding against going out looking for one today. Seems like most places really didn't have too much else outside of reserved units. I called around in the morning and that was the answer I got at least.
I decided to just pay a bit of a premium and get on from Amazon. The prices actually aren't too bad but I am sure they will probably go up later as the hype builds. I have a feeling this system is going to have an insane word of mouth effect.
I got a message a couple of hours ago that it has already shipped. No idea when I will get it but hopefully soon! Not sure if I am going to even buy a game for it yet though.
i haven't played much of the new ones beyond 2009 and checking out the demo each year, but it's definitely a lot more modern feeling than, say, PES6, and the interface is current (power bar under players, etc). i think the graphics are miles better than the wii series, too, or at least the one i have.RandomVince said:me too. my most wanted launch title by far (aus - no pilotwings/steel diver)
EEEEEE!
Thats what I wanted. How does it feel - like the new PES or the older PS2 ones?

i put a lot of time into PES5 on PSP and this is certainly a lot better than that!
