I don't want "DS eye".

interesting. any other thoughts on the quality/challenges the 3D will put forth?BowieZ said:Just so people are aware, I deliberately played the 3DS for three consecutive days at the demo event in Australia
this weekend, and my eyes have decreased in tiredness in the evenings of each day.
I also think the biggest issue is fooling around with (or not being used to correctly keeping) the sweet spot. That kind of jarring, constant refocusing is a bit painful... but I think over time people will become sufficiently accustomed to managing 3D visuals.

Very good idea. I wonder how that would effect battery life..Gahiggidy said:Any reason they couldn't use the facing camera to automatically measure the distance between a players eyes and the inches from the screen and adjust the 3d effect accordingly?

Likely buggy, and I would think an image constantly trying to correct its self would give people head aches far faster then letting their eyes just try to adjust to a constant 3D.Gahiggidy said:Any reason they couldn't use the facing camera to automatically measure the distance between a players eyes and the inches from the screen and adjust the 3d effect accordingly?

There's 3D drawing? Holy shit, I had no idea about that. Very cool.mehdi_san said:I'm having a lot more fun with the AR applications than what I expected. I especially like the 3D drawing one, I think some people will make amazing things with it.
Actually, you draw in 2D using the stylus on the bottom screen, but then you can visualize your drawing in 3D and turn around it to take pictures from different angles. And yes, you can save pictures to the SD card and use your computer to share them. I just wish you could share pictures from the 3DS itself... Maybe when the internet browser launches in may.Gahiggidy said:There's 3D drawing? Holy shit, I had no idea about that. Very cool.
Can you save your images to SD card and share?
Cygnus X-1 said:It would be interesting to know how big is the restocking for today. Well, I suppose we'll know it when MC numbers will drop.
They are actual polygons in 3D, but you can only draw in 2D (in the XY plane) and the 3DS automatically adds the depth (in the Z direction) to make them 3D.Gahiggidy said:So, are those actually polygonal models or sprites?
I remember reading in the manual you can use cards up to 32GB.Smiles and Cries said:has anyone gone and replaced the 2GB card with a larger one?
what is the max supported?

hmmm, that is a little disappointing as I was hoping the AR tech was already capable enough to draw complex 3D objects. Maybe in future revisions/aps they can allow users to make 3D models.mehdi_san said:They are actual polygons in 3D, but you can only draw in 2D (in the XY plane) and the 3DS automatically adds the depth (in the Z direction) to make them 3D.
I don't the problem is from the AR tech not being capable of drawing complex 3D obects. Other AR games have you fight against a dragon and you can turn around and see it from every angle. You can also do it with the drawings. It's just that you can only draw in a 2D plan, and I guess it's because it's easier to do with the stylus.Gahiggidy said:hmmm, that is a little disappointing as I was hoping the AR tech was already capable enough to draw complex 3D objects. What would be really neat is if in addition to the card they provided a minature "light probe" to allow the system gauge accurate lighting conditions from the scene a light the 3D objects accordingly. Kinda like AR HDR lighting (i think). As of now, the shadows obviously don't match up with the real world objects.

ok, but I'm now wondering about the polygon/texture limitation of AR mode. A good test might be to make a map of nothing but a 1px checkerboard pattern and see if the AR mode can render that without slowing down the frame rate.mehdi_san said:I don't the problem is from the AR tech not being capable of drawing complex 3D obects. Btw, I don't know why Apple has not implemented this same thing for those Starbucks free itunes cards.Mailenstein said:Got this tnx to feitclub:

I assume that "scribbling noise" when drawing is from the system and not the actual stylus contacting the screen. Nice touch.Vic said:
