The absolute dearth of retail Samurai Warriors Chronicles gameplay vids is heartbreaking.

I been wondering about this too. There are a lot of videos of Ridge Racer, Street Fighter, and the AR games, but I'm not seeing any videos for any of the other games. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

I hope apps will come from the store, beyond games.

Hopefully so. I'm really curious to see what news comes out of GDC about 3DS DD software. There are already non-gaming apps on the DSiWare shop, but I could see a real expansion of that for the 3DS.

Dunno about anything else, but the Samurai Warriors games in general have always gotten at best so-so reviews, usually pretty bad reviews, so I could see why there hasn't been a lot of interest in that one yet.

Wait did I miss something, what AR Game renders the Earth above a card.
There are 6 more AR "games" to be unlocked using game coins (from street pass or pedometer). Clock, world map, etc...

I can't wait to get my first cat, but they're too expensive :( I need more money...

What kind of non gaming app is available on DSi?

You can't start with a cat!? Nintendooooooooooo!! *Shakes fist*
From the Iwata Asks, the whole point of the cats is how they interact with the dog, and how the introduction of the cat to the household affects the dog. So from that point of view, it makes sense that they want to give you time to get to know your dog before introducing a cat to the situation.

Really?

OK, off the top of my head:
  • Flipnote Studio
  • MyNotebook/MyPostcards
  • City Transport Map
  • Instrument Tuner
  • 6 in 1 Dictionary
  • Various themed alarms/clocks

There's more out there - and more in Japan, IIRC - but there's certainly a range of non-gaming software on DSiWare already, and I could see that expanding on the 3DS.

EDIT:

...and I can see more suggestions above. As noted, there's nowhere near the range as you'd find on a smartphone, but they are there.

Wait, what? I haven't heard of this. Are they within the same AR program package? That thing where you see the six little boxes and choose which one to launch, there's another set of six? What's the "etc."?

I second all these questions. Are people saying now that there are 12 AR Games preloaded on the system, and six of them have to be unlocked? Let's see some links backing up these claims.

I watched a vidoe where they said that only the target shooting game is unlocked in the beginning and you have to unlock the other initial 5 by beating them step by step.

But I also second the question about the 'new' AR games.

Yeah you've got the 1st set of 6 boxes, with the 6 games AR games that you unlock just by playing, then when you unlock the 6 games there's a new cube that allows you to flip the table upside down. On the other side, there's a "shop" cube where you can buy 8 new AR games/apps (not 6 I'm sorry I was wrong) using game coins. The ones I bought so far are the clock, the globe, mokomoko (draw on the touch screen to change the level of the table, think modnation racers with the mountain creation), the camera (take a picture in any other AR game by pressing L+R), the free fishing, the fish collection (look at the models of fish you already caught), and the shooting range 2 and minigolf 2. I'm sorry I don't know the official english names, I just translated fro Japanese.

Jesus, the 3DS is stacked with software. I'm wondering if Nintendo aren't missing a trick by not highlighting just how much stuff is being bundled with the system - it would certainly add a bit more value (or perceived value) for potential buyers, I think...

Definitely, I actually feel better now knowing that there are so many AR games in there. Now if we had the 3DSshop fromt the get go, it would be perfect.

Oh, even better than I expected, thanks for the heads up.

Wow! So in other words, you start with one AR Game, unlock five more by beating them, and then a seventh cube appears that flips the table and reveals a Shop where you can unlock another eight AR features by spending coins (coins earned via the system's pedometer, a.k.a. walking around with the system).

So in other words:

Six AR Games (default, or unlock by playing):
+ Targets
+ Minigolf
+ Fishing
+ Graffiti
+ Mii Viewer
+ Star Viewer

Eight AR perks in AR Shop (use pedometer coins):
+ Targets 2
+ Minigolf 2
+ Clock
+ Globe
+ Fish Collection
+ Free Fish
+ Free Camera
+ Level Editor

Is this correct? Then you add the Mii Maker, Street Quest, Face Raiders, MP3 visualizer, the face blender (take pics of two people, merge together), etc, and you have a TON of content packed into the portable alone. :)

Add Pilotwings, Steel Diver and Pokemon Black to the equation, and if it weren't for MvC3 and maybe DKCR, my consoles would be getting mighty dusty. :)

I mean, we've now got:
  • 14 (?) AR minigames
  • Face Raiders
  • StreetPass Quest / StreetPass Puzzle
  • 3DS Camera / 3DS Sound
  • Mii Plaza

...what else am I missing?

Yes, that's exactly it. You put it in better words than me, thanks :)

Ok, that is awesome.

Well if you put it that way, it doesn't sound so bad.

So would driving around in a car affect it similarly?
If it's anything like the Pokewalker, yes.

Or you could just shake it a certain way and get steps.

Or tape it to a fan.

I put it on my AC. Got like 9999 steps a day. Too bad I lost mine...

Alright, I don't think this has been asked or mentioned yet.

Does the 3DS have any connectivity at all with the Mii Plaza on Wii? I have some Miis that I wouldn't mind just copying from my Wii to my 3DS if possible.

I'm pretty sure Miis can be transfered from the Wii to the 3DS, but not vice-versa. Since the 3DS has more Mii options than the Wii.

What, you don't want everyone seeing that you've played Hot and Cold a thousand times?

Gravijah said:
Yeah, but it's not the same. :( I'll probably just end up buying Heart Gold down the line.
Good man. Join the all versions master race.

I'm not 100% sure, but I thought I had heard Miis could be sent from Wii to 3DS but not from 3DS to Wii.

EDIT: Bah, beaten.
