In my personal case, I'd say I thought USB-C was supposed to be superior, but I'll be playing 99.9% in handheld.Difference being those other systems don't have a usb c -> hdmi displayout setup

I didn't shoot the sheriff, it was the gun that shot the sheriff.Because Youtube channels are making those comparisons…![]()
I have a LG B4, and i can tell you that MK8 is a better showcase for OLED tvs than the majority of Series X and PS5 games…
VRR was in TVs from what 2019? 2020? All Sony needed to do was get the firmware working. I think they came out and said, it will be out in a future FW and kept it in the product info. Nintendo advertised it, then removed it. This kind of suggests it is not even possible. For us… PS5 sold millions before getting VRR, the reality is that…

A specific USB dock, specifically their own. There's likely somehardware that helps in the matter to pull it offThey should consult Valve about it - Steam Deck got a firmware update to enable VRR via the USB dock.
Lol, amazing how some people get triggered about those videosI didn't shoot the sheriff, it was the gun that shot the sheriff.
It's not a Nintendo fan's fault when they post a video that accidentally compares the PS5 to Switch 2.
Ehh… Yes.VRR was in TVs from what 2019? 2020? All Sony needed to do was get the firmware working. I think they came out and said, it will be out in a future FW and kept it in the product info. Nintendo advertised it, then removed it. This kind of suggests it is not even possible.
This argument is self defeating. That's because most of the masses don't even know what 1080p means.
This doesn't mean they can't see horrible framerate and performance.
VRR is a lifesaver. For all people. Smart people like us, and simple folk who don't even know what 1080p or LCD means.
LolThis had me going too.
The original Switch looks like absolute shit on everything bigger than that built in 6 inch screen.
I get it, the hardware is underpowered due to doubling as a handheld. Still looks like shit.
These are the same people that loved the PS1.
Joking aside i LOVE bloodborne too. These are the same people that loved the PS1.
duh. it's a handheld device.
I have a Switch, a PS5, and a Switch 2 on preorder.
The Switch looks like dogshit on everything other than that little 6 inch screen. It's just reality.
Shills gonna shill.
Is better, i made a whole thread about thisYea, well it's in response to someone that actually said that Mario Kart 8 is one of the best looking oled games out there.
They have to be paying you guys, right?
Is better, i made a whole thread about this
I grabbed an LG B4 Oled TV for christmas and after try more modern games with HDR on my Series X and PS5 to see the tv in action, the most impressive game that i tried is MK8D and i wasn't expecting that… What kind of sorcery is this? Looks absolutely amazing and a truly showcase for Oleds tvs. Can't wait to see what Nintendo can achieve if they implement HDR for the Switch 2.

Nintendo after reading your commentJust catching up on this thread, and so many people here are blaming Nintendo as if they intentionally decided to leave docked VRR out, as either a cost-saving measure or an anti-consumer measure.
Guys. This is NINTENDO we're talking about. The only reason the Switch 2 in handheld mode has VRR is because Nintendo probably thinks they invented it. I bet they have no idea it's been an available technology of TV and/or PC gaming for over a decade.![]()
Every game company drops the ball hard this gen but one can hope Sony releases a handled that fucks with Nintendo, just a little bit.
The HDMI cable that comes with the Switch 2 is allegedly Ultra High Speed. This means 2.1
Nintendo would not put HDMI 2.1 cable if the spec would be 2.0. OLED switch was HDMI 2.0/2.0b premium high speed cable.
The famiboard part list leak a while ago along with a ton of rumours put the dock converter as the Realtek RTD2175 which nobody has the spec. So while peoples were speculating on RTD2173 as being similar, nobody really knew.
But guess what PS5 slim uses?

Chipset which is displayport v1.4 to HDMI 2.1 converter.
VRR works on PS5 slim right?
So all in all its probably that the HDMI Forum compliance testing hasn't been completed. If there's some compatibility issue for some other reason like the cablematters cable which received firmware updates to fix it
Incredible how messy this HDMI seems to be for all of this.
Why are you talking about sales?
According to your metric a Big Mac is the most healthy food ever.
This is unironically true. The 152 million people and counting that picked up a Switch didn't do it because the gods (little g) on NeoGAF pushed them in that direction. Those of us that talk about Nintendo favorably around here are just along for the ride. In fact, I might die laughing when the PS4 and PS5 launch numbers get curb-stomped while the Sony ponies tell us the PS4 and/or PS5 would've sold 100 million apiece at launch if they would've had the pipeline; feathering your pillow with 'could've, would've, should've' is what you'll have to make your bed with.Don't even bother man, they don't care, they can't take the criticism, in fact, "we", the "nerds living a forum bubble" are the ones that are crazy asking for - gasp - tech standards for a new piece of hardware being released in the year of our lord 2025.
Don't you know ? Mario, Pokemon and Mario kart sell MILLIONS man to the "normal people" that don't care® about tech and it's us, the "forum nerds" that are (for some reason) in the wrong.
In other words, you can't make this shit up, it's impossible to have a proper discussion with the likes of these.

Agree… The same as putting 8K120 in the box of a console and later on removing it… At least Nintendo can fix this with a future firmware upgrade and was not one of their main selling points. This is like going into a thread about an nvidia gpu only having 8gb of vram and being like well who cares because nvidia is the richest company in the world.
That's a bunch of shit that only some tech adopter or some PC elitist or PS/Xbox fanboy would say. Plenty of games look great on big HD TV's with Switch. This had me going too.

When you read a comment that said that MK8 looks bad on a OLED screen is just for one reason… They're never watched MK8 on OLED TV… Simple. That's a bunch of shit that only some tech adopter or some PC elitist or PS/Xbox fanboy would say. Plenty of games look great on big HD TV's with Switch.
What people is taking from those videos is that Switch 2 can run the PS5 versions of the game or looking very close if not match it visually at lower resolution and/or frame rate, not that the console or equally as powerful as the PS5 lol, it's more comparable to XSS and it's been demonstrated over and overThen why is it I'm seeing Switch 2 vs PS5 comparison videos posted here? Those are not being posted by "Switch 2 haters" and they ain't coming from DF.

Those kinds of players are likely young kids who never played NES or PSP etc. and have no idea how far graphics have come over the years. Then some will say "compared to this or that" and to that I'd just say "compare Switch to other handhelds or stfu. When you read a comment that said that MK8 looks bad on a OLED screen is just for one reason… They're never watched MK8 on OLED TV… Simple.
Hybrid device.duh. it's a handheld device.
Far to much logic contained in this post. But of course it will go over many peoples heads on here. The HDMI cable that comes with the Switch 2 is allegedly Ultra High Speed. This means 2.1

Never said you were wrong, Just that you are in the minority. The simple fact that even on a niche gaming forum not everybody is agreeing with you should be a bit of a clue.Don't even bother man, they don't care, they can't take the criticism, in fact, "we", the "nerds living a forum bubble" are the ones that are crazy asking for - gasp - tech standards for a new piece of hardware being released in the year of our lord 2025.

Is the Steam Deck a hybrid too? You can connect it to a TV.Hybrid device.

The home menu on the original Switch is 720p to help the operating system. But it's still looks fibe upscaled to 4K on my LG OLED. Of course it's not as good as my series X but it still looks fine. My display is a 48 inch model but it also looks very good on my sisters 55 inch OLED as well.Even the home menu looks shitty in docked mode and it's not even running a game.
This would be true if you actually wanted a rational discussion about all this. But in reality this is just another thread to bash the Switch 2. And you are not interested in anything other than Nintendo is evil for doing this and everybody should be outraged.. So I feel a proper discussion is the last thing you want. Unless of course everybody simply agrees with you.Don't even bother man, they don't care, they can't take the criticism, in fact, "we", the "nerds living a forum bubble" are the ones that are crazy asking for - gasp - tech standards for a new piece of hardware being released in the year of our lord 2025.

And from launch titles as well. The Borderlands creators voice video suggested the Switch 2 was more than capable. Of course this is enough to send many into hissy fits on here as they really wanted the Switch 2 to be far less powerful. I think the success of the original Switch broke some people on here as how dare an underpowered console sell so many units without even a significant price cut. The answer is obvious and why the lack of VRR or indeed the inclusion of it at some point will make no difference to the Switch 2's sales. What people is taking from those videos is that Switch 2 can run the PS5 versions of the game or looking very close if not match it visually at lower resolution and/or frame rate, not that the console or equally as powerful as the PS5 lol, it's more comparable to XSS and it's been demonstrated over and over
The Switch was marketed as a hybrid device and has a dedicated dock that is inclded with it. But we could just call them all videogame consoles. Is the Steam Deck a hybrid too? You can connect it to a TV.
