Nintendo Direct 5/17 4PM CEST, 7AM PST, focus on First Party Wii U Summer Titles

It wouldn't be out of the norm for Nintendo to drop some tease, but anybody expecting the focus to be on anything other than the 3DS and Wii U release roster up until the end of September is doomed for disappointment. They're not going to drop "OH BY THE WAY HERE'S POKEMON MMO U, RETRO'S GAME, AND SHENMUE III" in a Direct like this. If you want hype on new shit, wait until E3.

That being said, I really, really need my The Wonderful 101 release date. I'm certain this will deliver a Pikmin 3 PAL date, which is nice. But I really want that TW101.
Shenmue 3 coming to Wii U!

I guess Iwata will atleast do some vocal tease (sounds more dirty than it was supposed to). He always does this.

After both systems have been revealed? Seems like a huge wasted opportunity.

I would have thought that dropping some bombs afterwards would be better. Whatever they announce right now could be lost with all the new and shiny MS hoopla. Make an explosion after that and you'd keep the attention up until E3.

At least that's how my brain works. It's possible I could act like a sugar-addicted ADD child tha... OO, SOMEONES KEYS ARE JANGLING.

Nintendo is dead...

...or is it?

Kaz is a beautiful looking woman

Damn this is so flippin' good. lol

There's got to be some sort of E3-Teaser in there tomorrow. Nobody will be talking about Nintendo otherwise, with the Xbox Reveal coming up. Gamers hyping each other up to the reveal at the conference would be a great outcome for Nintendo.

Wish they would apply this to their game release schedule

At this point, it's clear they have no intentions to release anything before the end of June. They think they're relaunching it, I think they're unintentionally aborting it, we'll see who's right.

It's part of why no July game is concerning. You have Wario in June (which isn't going to light the world on fire), Pikmin in August (which will do better than Wario but will be similarly incombustible), and nothing for July. First month of their relaunch and they're already failing to deliver on the game-a-month idea.

Now, optimistically, this means W101 is coming out then. But if it's not, then that means they consider Wario (June 30th) as both the June title and the July title which, really? Really?

Im excited, I doubt we will get new stuff announced, but I cant resist an extended look at Pikmin and TW101, maybe some Bayonetta 2.

Company president Satoru Iwata will communicate 'directly' with fans via the internet, focusing on 1st Party titles planned for release in Summer for Nintendo Wii U.

Developments for Wii U from Autumn of this year will be communicated around the timing of E3 with a Nintendo Direct.

Pretty much what everyone else is saying...nothing new or too surprising regarding major announcements. Chances are we will only see games we have already seen. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if there is some news about more games coming out for the virtual console.

Wii U Party is a summer title

I usually get hyped for these, but this one doesn't seem like it'll be special. Just new info/footage on spring/summer games which is great.

The directs closer to the e3 will drop the bombs.

And there we go.

Yeah, VC and probably an eShop game or two.

I'm expecting them to talk about Game & Wario, The Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3 and Yarn Yoshi. Game & Wario in June, The Wonderful 101 in July, Pikmin 3 in August and Yarn Yoshi in September.

Oh well, E3 is right around the corner, so I'm good with this Direct finally clearing out the games we've been told to wait for so long.

I wouldn't get too hyped about this direct, mainly just going to be release dates for games we already know about. Next month's direct is where the hype train is terminating.

Interesting choice. I feel like they may have been better off doing all of this in one huge E3 Direct/presser, however I guess they either A) Have games coming out before the E3 direct or B) Hope they can spur more sales by splitting them up and getting more info out earlier.

Did they really write Please Understand in there.

Technically あらかじめご了承ください means 'please take note' but I couldn't resist with it coming at the end of the dot-point.

EDIT: We'll probably hear about the summer update, too.
