Nintendo Downloads - October 2012

Anybody buy Liberation Maiden? It looks cool, but it's tough to find any details about the gameplay.

I bought it and had a go for a while. It's not bad, but it doesn't have any lefthand support so I'm basically dead in the water when playing. :(

Nintendo usually uses $ = ¥
In any case too expensive for a measly 3 levels.
*Looks at WiiU* Not anymore!

Anywayz: Finally got the spotpass update. I'de say that the packs were worth the money for the most part. Maybe it should've been $2 in US because it seems a tad overpriced but whatever.

The easy pack is fun and I can actually get alot of coins in this one as opposed to most other non download packs.

The Middle pack is alright.

The hard pack is probably too hard for me but whatever. I rushed (pun intended) through it on my first go and beat it easily enough with the white racoon tail. However getting coins and star coins in a whole nother issue. I don't even see how I can get the star coins on the first course, especially without the white racoon tail. But I shall practice.

After passing out from all of the eShop news today I am excited as fuck for everything. I can't belive so much stuff is coming in three months.

Here is what I will get. Ones marked with a * are day 1. All others are maybe day one or later.

Mario Golf (I never played it so I don't know how much if any there is of grinding, but I am playing too many RPGs right now.)
Night Sky (Need to look more into it.
Fluidity 2 (Wanna beat the first game first but I don't think I can due to it being a Metroidvania type game and me not likeing those. Atleast this one seems better and linear.)
Wario Land 2* (Love 1,4,and Shake it! Never played 2 or 3 so I'm in day one.)
The Lost Levels* (I can finally beat it with save states!)
Ninja Gaiden (I can finally beat it with Save States!)
Castlevania
Crashomo (Would be day one but lol four days after WiiU.)

OP updated with all the new stuff.

I'm missing most € prices because the internet has a seriously annoying £ bias, so if anyone can help me there, it'd be great.

Liberation Maiden is pretty awesome. It's well worth the purchase if you're into shooting games. It's very simple, but has a consistent, cohesive atmosphere and presentation that adds a lot to the game. Unfortunately...

...I'm in the same boat. Welcome to 2012 Level 5, where is my customisable control scheme? Those damned buttons don't even do anything in the game (yet), so they'd be perfectly adequate for left-handed players. I barely scraped through the first level on Easy and my hands were cramped to the max.

Also: the game doesn't seem to prompt you, but when you quit a level in Liberation Maiden it does save your progress up to the beginning of the stage.

3D version of Cave Story looks awesome btw, no Ghosting like I was worried about. They've done a pretty nice job on this one. Hopefully I'll be able to finish the game this time. I'm sure this is the 5th time I've bought it (WiiWare, DSiWare, Retail, Steam and now this)

Cave Story 3D looks indeed great. This is actually the first time I play the game, so I'm glad I held off getting any of the previous versions.

Now watch as Nicalis announces Cave Story Wii U.

Playing Cave Story for the first time ever and I'm loving it. I'm glad I held off on the 3d polygon version, I love the graphics and the music of this version.

What's everyone's record for Nerve-Wrack Pack? I have 6996 and feel pretty good about it. These are some wonderfully designed levels--I would buy a NSMB2: The Lost Levels day one.

Tokyo Crash Mobs isn't that weird, it's just Magnetica with people instead of balls.

I dunno... a game where you throw people to get ahead on a line seems pretty weird to me. :p

I'm all for it coming over though. Seems like it could be some good fun. Just hope it's not overpriced... how much is it in Japan?

edit: nm, article says it's 700 yen (~$9). Not too bad I guess

Or it could be another dev who Nintendo is plain not letting develop for the eShop...

The feature was posted today:

Bertil Horberg was nice enough to chat with us about bringing his western themed platformer “Gunman Clive”, originally created for iOS and Android, to the Nintendo 3DS’s eShop service. Horberg told us about some of the influences that created the game’s gameplay and visual style.

Speaking on actual development, Horberg says, “The porting itself was also pretty straight forward; I have my own engine and use very little middleware so I could lift over most of my code without any trouble. The rendering obviously had to be rewritten and the GPU is pretty different from what you get in cellphones. I was a bit worried at first if I would be able to recreate the unique look without programmable fragment shaders but that wasn’t much trouble at all in the end. With some optimization I was even able to get it to run better than on some of the most high end iOS/Android devices, even in 3D and with AA.”

Looking forward to seeing it in action.

Nintendo 3DS | eShop Original Software, Downloadable Content and Demos

I wonder if Nintendo is listening to us and and will continue spreading out their eShop releases from now on instead of just going with the usual Thursday release day. I like this trend and hope it continues.

Nope. They're just releasing Pokemon DR on the same day as B/W2.

I got it the first time it was a Club Nintendo reward and I don't regret it.

It's dumb fun with a good 3D effect.

NOE weekly roundup video is up--Hana (Sakura) Samurai, Robot Rescue 2 on DSiWare, Pokemon Dream Radar on the 12th. Nothing for Wii.

All we want in the US is some god damn Picross. Just give us the Picross, Nintendo. I'll give you anything you want. I'll do anything you want. ANYTHING

Picross 3D has been sitting on my shelf forever. Just recently started playing, and having a great time. Although I just put Picross DS in a few days ago, started a new game, and it hasn't left the system since lol
