Nintendo E3 plans detailed

Actually Retro working on Geist would also make sense with that Alexander Brandon rumor. I'm still hoping for StarTropics (as I've been hoping for probably 10 years now) but Geist would be cool too.

A Kid Icarus sequel should definitely be handled by a Japanese team, preferably with Sakurai in the lead. I can't see happening any other way, if it does at all.

Yeah, I really don't think that game would work without Sakurai. The difficulty/reward system was very Sakurai and it was probably my favorite part of the game. Randomized loot is just too addicting.

EDIT:
For Retro, if they are not making a DK game I could only see them tackle a franchise that has appeal in west. Besides Startropics, Metroid and DK whats another IP that Nintendo has that caters heavily to western audience?

Geist, like I've been saying :)

A KIU sequel developed by Platinum Games?

(Spoilers for KIU and a Clover Studios/Platinum game)
How many different endings would it have?

Man... I am confused as hell when it comes to speculation now. Previously, I was willing to bet that we get Pokemon Stars this fall and Animal Crossing in Spring. That unconfirmed WSJ report states that the AC mobile game is coming this year...

Gimme some hot takes on this information folks. Do we think the AC mobile app would launch on its own with a game coming later? Do we think it's possible that we get an AC game and the mobile app this fall with Pokemon Stars in Spring 2018?

I think AC would still be next Spring. Launch the mobile game this fall, build up momentum for the brand, and then release the next big game in the franchise 6 months later(March-May) with some connectivity to the mobile game.

Always the usual suspects shitting up every Nintendo thread with blatant trolling and throwing shit off the rails. Makes every Nintendo related thread on GAF hard to read.

I've lurked this forum for ages and yeah, there are people like ninjablade, Spielereins, this guy and a few others that got banned that just can't help themselves. I've never seen this kind of continuity in PS or Xbox related threads with a whole bunch of posters.

Yeah I think AC in spring makes sense. That's what I'm hoping for at least.

Can you guys believe it has been 9 years since Nintendo released their last mainline Animal Crossing game on a home console?

City Folk was released November 16, 2008.

Animal Crossing Mobile Fall 2017
Animal Crossing Switch Fall 2018 imo

A few of us have said Retro should've been big enough by now to have two teams working on multiple projects. Nintendo needs to shore up their deficiencies. If they know western third party devs are not giving them AAA first person shooter games or AAA adventure games or AAA RPG's then they should be making it themselves.

One thing I can't stand is the Japanese bias from Nintendo. Start thinking more about the western market too just like Sony did. Naughty Dog went from platformers to Uncharted. Why can't Retro do the same? Give them more money. They're top talent. Let them make a first person shooter to attract that crowd. Let them make a WRPG. It'll all have Nintendo's philosophies behind it and you know it'll be great.

They don't have to keep working on Nintendo IP's or bring back Star Tropics and make it a big adventure Uncharted type of game or a full blown RPG. Maybe that's why I don't want to see them doing just Metroid or just DK. I love Nintendo, but I think it's bad they don't grow their western market with new studios or bigger devs teams in America or Europe.

Geist 2.

Geist was such a good concept at first but the developers just weren't seemingly able to find anything interesting to do with it after the mid-game. The end was just boring. I've always thought Retro or EPD could do a fantastic job with those game mechanics throughout the whole game.

Except none of them are on (or slated for release on) the Switch as of yet. Nintendo needs to prove there can be an audience for a FPS if they want those games and the rest of the audience that comes with them.

This is a different discussion, but whatever Retro makes should be Teen rated. I don't think Nintendo wants to create M rated games. But T rated would allow Nintendo to aim at an older demographic.

New IP is out of the question?

New IP is out of the question?

I actually would like that but feel like that's not gonna happen. Especially if the studio themself wants to work on an existing series.

Pretty good it still can be played with bots wich also is fun still.

Had alot of fun with it myself when i was heavily into the game near launch.

Nice. Besides Retro I look forward to Sakurai's output as well out of Nintendo's first party developers. Hopefully his new project is a sequel or if any working on a different IP.

I'm hoping, and I'm sure we'll get it, for some clarification on indie releases for the rest of the year. Got a big trip in early September so I'm crossing my fingers on some good eshop titles before then.

I think indies is a given. They're a big part of Nintendo now. I want to see more of the Flipping Death game.

I think I'm still sticking strong to that guess as well, it just seems like odd timing. Either way I'll be pumped to get a new AC game on Switch!

BTW, my kid got to test a demo of Flipping Death on the Switch a couple of weeks ago. He liked it a lot. I so regretted that I didn't go with him to that event...

The report also suggested the release date wasn't final, and they would consider launching Zelda first and AC later. Which would potentially put the Zelda game in Q4 and Animal Crossing in February/March.

But even then, I think it's possible they could do the AC mobile game as a teaser for the AC Switch game. Kinda like, "Like this? Check out the full AC experience on Switch this spring!" Their strategy has been to use the mobile games to boost brand awareness, and thus awareness of new entries in those series. Pokemon and 3DS sales got a big boost thanks to Pokemon Go.

I still stick to my hunch that Pokemon Stars will be this October and an Animal Crossing Switch game will follow early next year, in maybe February or May.

Geist had a cool premise. I remember being really hyped up for it before its release, but the actual game turned out to be mediocre.

If Retro's going to reboot an old, forgotten Nintendo franchise, I wouldn't mind a new take on Mach Rider. I'd love an Eternal Darkness sequel as well, though I think the latter is even less likely.

This might be based on old information but wasn't Retros total staff only like 70-100 people?

Idk, but Miyamoto said Retro could make multiple games 4 years ago. I'd hope he meant it and they started making two games after DKCTF finished.

http://wegotthiscovered.com/gaming/retro-studios-running-metroid-miyamoto/

I think Retro has really come to a point at which it’s possible for it to have multiple lines running at the same time and having different projects in development. I totally think there are possibilities to see different projects from Retro in the future

BTW, my kid got to test a demo of Flipping Death on the Switch a couple of weeks ago. He liked it a lot. I so regretted that I didn't go with him to that event...

I've heard good things about it too. You should've went...bad dad! :P

Stars is going to be 3DS-only, i'd bet the farm on it.

Mostly vanilla E3. I think they'll save GameCube virtual console for 2018 sometime considering they haven't even done lesser VC yet (barring the random Neo Geo games which aren't really emulated anyway).

-Super Mario Odyssey
-ARMS
-Splatoon 2
-Segue into talking about Switch online features. Netflix/Hulu/Browser incoming, some details of the online mobile app, announce full details will be revealed in August.
-Fire Emblem Warriors
-Sonic Forces
-Japanese Third Party randoms
-Skyrim
-Western 3rd party randoms
-Ubisoft's stuff (Rabbids Kingdom, maybe a tiny hint of BG&E2, but not this year)
-Pokemon Stars
-3DS Randoms
-One More Thing (Retro Studios, since DKTF went gold for holiday 2013, this'll have been four years for what's been a 2-3 year studio pretty consistently, though i think it'll be a Spring 2018 game).

No Xenoblade 2 is my other risky bet.

I appreciate your take on this! Somehow I missed the bit about the release date not being final! In that case, I'm 100% with you. Pokemon makes more sense for this year with AC in the spring.

No Xenoblade 2 is my other risky bet.

I hope you don't make a living off that farm. Mods gonna take it away!

Anyway, I appreciate risky speculation like this. I hope you're wrong on both accounts, but I applaud you for your bravery.

Hey, no problem! And yeah, I think that's the best way to do it. I was thinking at first AC would be a solid holiday game for next year, but that might be too far away from the mobile game to ride its wave as well. Plus, they've had plenty of time to work on it - Welcome Amiibo's outsourcing, and the extensive assets in the Plaza, Amiibo Festival, and Mario Kart 8 suggest that plenty of progress has been made already, so it wouldn't be unthinkable to have it as soon as the springtime.

Taken the 90% male player base and overwhelming positive reaction to BOTW willing to bet f-zero is coming or Metroid. I guess F-Zero would be bad timing with Mario Kart 8 just releasing, but seems like it might happen. Wow, I like live in this weird bubble where the switch hasn't released yet. Hope Ever Oasis turns out to be the best game ever. Also predicting new game that uses hd rumble or the ir sensors. Really hope Nintendo can find some cool uses for their experimental peripherals.

Today in Things I Learned:

Xenoblade 2's character designer is a hentai artist.

That sure does answer A LOT of questions while simultaneously explaining when i hate it so much. He apparently did some work for Fire Emblem: Awakening's DLC as well.

You sure?

You sure?
Was talking to somebody on Twitter about it and decided to Google his name next to some uh... interesting terms and boy it sure does seem like it. He also did some work for the Fire Emblem Awakening DLC apparently.

Also a possibility that there is a hentai artist out there with the exact same name and similar art style.

This may require Further Research.

I hope that E3 2018 you mention happens. I don't think we should expect much a third-party presence at this E3 apart from what we already know (FIFA, Skyrim, Sonic), what has been rumored (BG&E2 maybe?), and any deals Nintendo specifically negotiated/contracted (like Platinum). I agree that Switch being a solid success for a year with strong third-party sales could mean that E3 2018 is when you see third-party software planning really take Switch seriously. It'll likely depend on upcoming games' performance: Skyrim and FIFA will probably be used as measuring sticks by many, but Bomberman's early success is hopefully turning a few heads.

As long as the Switch keeps selling at a good pace it'll get some more western third party support. I mean the Gamecube got support and it only sold 20 some million. Skyrim should sell well as long as Bethesda does their job and make sure it's a good port. They should also put some extra stuff in it.

I mean, good artists and bad artists both can draw dirty pictures.

I don't particularly like the XB2 art myself, but I doubt it is because he drew pornographic drawings.

lol. I just watched a video from Spawn Wave on youtube. SMD was in there. He claimed to have seen some footage of the Rabbits game. This dude is full of shit. Straight up lying again and again

No, of course I don't think that just because you draw some butts and nipples that it disqualifies your art, but there's still just a sort of vibe that I've gotten from the artwork since day one that is not gelling with me and it reminds me of the same way Sword Art Online grosses me out. SAO of course being pretty exploitative at its core.

This is just in the character designs mind you. I'm still excited for the game overall.

I usually expected it from artist that are involved in ecchi manga.

I think that was the same one where he claimed to know what Retro was working on and the Metroid game.

Omg I just found a photo of the Xenoblade 2 character designer spooning and feeling up a statue of one of his characters while wearing sunglasses and I wish I could post it, but boy I can't tell if it's considered nsfw or not.

Still, I am having trouble breathing I'm laughing so hard.

He's so smug. I can't stand seeing his face. He made a video on his channel how others are reporting his "two Metroid games" rumor and he looked like he enjoyed it. He wants attention and he wants to feel important. When he talks there's just this arrogance that comes off of him.

its ok to post it just put NSFW:url

So I'm just compiling a list of confirmed major releases coming to Switch for the rest of this year

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers
ARMS
Cave Story+
Minecraft Story Mode
Splatoon 2
Redout
Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star
NBA 2K18
Fifa 2018
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Sonic Mania
Sonic Forces
Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2
One Piece Unlimited World Red Deluxe Edition
Fire Emblem Warriors
Super Mario Odyssey
Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Even before more stuff gets announced at E3, the first year of the Switch easily trounces the first year of the Wii U

Eh to be fair to him (this time) a lot of people have claimed to have seen footage of the Rabbids game. Including Liam Robertson and Emily Rogers. I'm sure the footage is out there and has been seen by a lot of people.

But yeah I wouldn't believe any rumor that originates with him.

The problem is he's seeing Rabbids now when everyone else is claiming they saw it. He talks about Climax making Metroid and he even pointed out some people on Climax Twitter seemed to know about it.

The only thing he "knows" by himself to add in was what Retro was making. Out of all the studios in the world he knows what the one studio nobody knows what they're working on. It's like he added the Retro part so he can get attention.

Anyways, I'll leave that alone for now. -.-

Are you 100% sure that it is Masatsugu Saito and not someone else?

EDIT: I've been informed that the guy hugging the Belzac figure is the director of Expelled From Paradise, Gen Urobuchi, and *not* Masatsugu Saito. Next time don't just blindly assume.

XB2 character art doesn't look like SAO character art which is good.

To be honest Xenoblade 2 artstyle looks so much better than the dreadful artstyle that was Xenoblade chronicles.

The anime artstyle is the least offensive.
