If they didn't label the pictures I probably wouldn't be able to tell which is which...just sayin.

Like there's a few in there that looks like it could be a difference with the time of day. Need to see it in motion.

It's could be just me, but there's definitely some parts of the video where I prefer the warmer tones of the original. I'm on my work PC so there may be some difference I'm not seeing because I'm not watching in 1440p or 4k.

The way the sun works in the remastered version as far as godrays kinda washes out the architecture in the background at times. I understand it's more of an artistic choice, but I think I prefer less godrays and more clarity.

However, the foliage looks a lot better in the remaster and in some of the scenes I appreciate the artstyle changing to something more resembling Forbidden West.

I mean...it's 10 bucks and I'm sure it will perform just as well. Nixxes don't miss.

Enemy details mimic Forbidden West too, nice improvement

When you get a chance, try to catch it on a good screen. Some of the changes are pretty big!

Still, glad you could at least check it out with that vid!

Oof, some hilariously bitter comments in this thread!

People pretending that the game wasn't popular and generally well received back in 2017, that its somehow this game's "fault" for existing when a Bloodborne remaster doesn't, that although they didn't have the patience to finish the story back in the day they have the time and motivation to shit-post in a thread where somebody has put the effort to create nice comparison screenshots...

Not a good look for you.
The game looks massively improved graphically. Which makes it all the more frustrating that it's for a game that I don't like at all. I'm guessing most other people 'shit posting' have a similar dislike for the game.

Good improvement over the original for sure. But the Horizon games aren't games I would personally replay, so while the upgrade is nice, its a pass for now. I'd honestly rather experience the Lego version if I had to choose.

Only gaming devs can talk this way and get away with it. if i told my bosses that its too much work, id get laid off the next day.
Sony is not asking them to add ray-tracing, though. Huge difference.
Also, it's obviously a matter of workforce, Nixxes is doing several porting projects at the same time.

I see more visual improvement in this remaster than in many remakes. Seems that Nixes -as usual- is doing a great job, I think it deserves the $10 upgrade that I will be happy to pay.

now do that with killzone.
I'd love to see a Killzone collection remastered/remade, but I think isn't likely.

I don't know the exact Killzone sales, but this game may have sold like over twice the amount of copies of the entire Killzone franchise combined.

I have put a great deal of time in the PS4 version. I enjoyed playing this. Part of that enjoyment comes from being in that world - it is quite absorbing.

I am curious as the experience with improved graphics

Some of you act like you have played the remaster from start to finish already lol
Well it's the same game that released in 2017 it's just visually enhanced so yeah a lot of people can already give you their feelings about the game...

I dont understand why some users are saying that the first Horizon is shit. We must have played different games I guess but I found the game to be really good, with very good writing, interesting story and great gameplay.

I dont know, I feel its disingenuous to say this game is shit to be honest, you might dont like it but I cant take seriously that kind of criticism

Just putting this here for everyone wondering why this game got an incredible looking remaster and for all those saying its shit and they dont understand it..

"Horizon Zero Dawn released on PC in August 2020 and had a successful launch, moving over 700,000 digital units. By March 2022, that number had increased to about 2.4 million units. In May 2023, it was announced on the official PlayStation blog that as of 16 April 2023, the game had sold over 24.3 million units"

"Horizon Forbidden West has sold through 8.4 million copies in just over a year. The milestone was buried in a studio profile on developer Guerrilla Games that was published on the PlayStation Blog. This is the first time we've seen any sales figures for Forbidden West since the sequel debuted in February 2022"

The Horizon franchise is fucking huge for Sony and jesus lads, for a tenner Sony are giving us a day and night upgrade for the original game, whilst i'll not be replaying it, after seeing those upgrades i'll probably punt a tenner just to go have a look around

Definitionally "shitposting" is when somebody posts on a topic they straight-up say they don't care about, and it comes across like they are just trying to a get a reaction from those who do.

The point I was making was that I feel like this game is taking hits largely because of people generally having issues with Sony/Playstation/Gaming as a whole right now, and not really because there's anything wrong with this product in itself.

Which I don't think is a particularly controversial observation to make, and legitimately a bit sad if you accept it (the observation) to be true.

I mean, case in point, why are you "frustrated" by Nixxes doing a good job on this? Isn't it relevant to your interests that this is the quality of their work, and likely representative of the degree of improvement to be seen on their next port / remaster job?

It was already obvious when they said that they were reaching parity with fw, only haters and fanboys thought it wasn't a good deal for 10 dollars.

Lighting and stuff looks good, but all the models look puffy and swollen. Humans, robots and even the building in a way. Maybe some camera lensing effect going on? Not even talking about the Aloy thing. You can see it in every image in the OP with a human and even some of the bots. Even the bricks got plump and rounded.
That is actually called tesselation.

It's obviously a decent upgrade in terms of tech, but some artistic changes are questionable. Not sure why they made colors colder.

Anyways, at this point 10 bucks should be the price of the full game, I wouldn't spend that just to add better lighting.

I mean... it looks better in places for sure, but these comparisons also kinda highlight how utterly unnecessary and, frankly, uninteresting the remaster is. Honestly, I actually prefer how the original looks in probably half of those shots.
I actually think the new screens make the world appear more alive, as if the original was drab and bland.

While I actually thought the original was looking amazing and colorful.
Can't wait to see it on Pro.

Okay, I also want to add some extra comparison.

Alright, I'll admit I was wrong when I insinuated this was a low effort cash grab. The upgrades push it closer to a cg movie in character rendering and direction vs the 'lifeless action figure' look before.

That`s a lot of work for a remaster. They pretty much left no asset untouched, even redid the bake cycles for the lighting.
10 bucks seem really fair for once. (won`t touch the game again though)

Talking the enhancements, not the core story. People are drawing conclusions from a tiny fraction of screenshots and video.

Yep, honestly.

It doesn't make sense to me to engage in threads of a game you supposedly don't care about and even less if you actively dislike that game. And it is not like they do it once or twice. The same Twitter trash level comments get repeated in every single thread.

I wonder if many of these people even talk about the games they do like at least as often as they do about those they dislike.

I really do hope they get better someday.

DF made things very clear. Nice improvement. I might just bite, though I've already finished the game. I'm still working on Forbidden West honestly so maybe I'll wait until I finish that and the DLC.

How's NG+ for those who've gone into it? Any differences other than being OP from the start?

Is there any Pro modes?? I liked Zero Dawn much more than FW the hate it's getting is borderline comical....

I'd rather Guerilla made a new game next and Horizon seems a bit forced this gen especially with a Lego game now aswell but this Remaster isn't a Guerilla game it's Nixxes and for £10 it seems like a great deal.
