Nintendo E3 plans detailed

Also I remember the E3 that DKCTF was announced, a few days before we got an image of the lanyard which is always nintendo themed and it had an image of DK on it and sombody jokingly suggested that Retro was working on DK lol...

Bad memories lol. And I remember I was watching IGN or something stupid and they were like "Nintendo has just announced that there will be a surprise announcement! Could it be a Metroid game? Let's see!" and then they announced Wii Fit trainer for Smash Bros.

So are we expecting a lot of ARMS at E3? Nintendo made their case for it yesterday (a damn good one) and they have weekend demos coming up. Will we get a tease of the first round of free updates or will they spend their time elsewhere?

I'm afraid they're gonna dedicate like > 5 minutes of it in their video.

I thought the same thing, but someone on GAF pointed out that said clause was only for FIFA. If I'm mistaken, please correct me.

I don't know. I had heard it was the same for Fifa, NBA, and NFL.

The only exception is NBA needs to be on console. I don't think it mentioned handheld.

I don't see it getting more than a minute. This is it for ARMS. They have the invitational they'll mention it releases that week. Treehouse will do a segment playing the game and that's it.

Eh I really wouldn't worry about too much ARMS at the Spotlight, there shouldn't be that much more to cover. I'm expecting a quick 1 minute recap and preview of the tournament.

I really think people are sleeping on Nintendo a bit this year, assuming we basically know the full 2017 lineup. I think there will be a pretty surprising amount of new 2017 games announced.

I haven't looked into it much, but...

Any rumors or anything going around about what may be shown from Nintendo?

At this point I'm looking for legit excuses to buy a Switch - be it solid Fire Emblem footage, a new Metroid (Prime?), or just more third party & Japanese support.

Any juicy rumours friends?
Nothing concrete on Nintendo, but I've seen indications of a deluge of E3 2017 information hitting very soon (hopefully next week). Nintendo's E3 site ought to see some updates with that.

Also, direct deliveries to show site (Los Angeles Convention Center) begin Sunday, 04 June. So by then we should see some threads on signage and crates popping up. Note that Nintendo usually shows up late, but when it happens we'll likely get something to speculate about.

I'll take you up on that, though I do want you to be right.

You just got to believe, friend.

You think there's going to be a large amount of rumors next week or general E3 information next week?

Friend's uncle just sent him this. It might be totes legit guys

Legit one of my most wanted announcements at E3 is Skyward Sword HD.

Never played it on Wii and I'm close to finishing up BotW so SS would be amazing with updated graphics, no waggle and streamlined Fi. Pleeeese Nintendo.

General E3 information.

Gotcha.

Tomorrow will be exactly 3 weeks until E3 (not exactly E3, but EA's conference is on Saturday).

The hype is real @_@

Man I can't believe how fast the time goes.

If they REALLY wanna keep the momentum going then Pokemon Stars, Smash, and some kind of amazing 3rd party exclusive like Platinum Games or Monster Hunter needs to happen.

Pokemon and Smash has to happen though.

Sakurai has to have something.

While I'm not that deep into the series, I wonder how big an impact announcing a new Animal Crossing game for Switch would be. I was surprised by how big New Leaf was on the 3DS (around 10 million copies sold), plus I'd be interested to see if they'd integrate the console's portability into some form of gameplay/interactivity. Animal Crossing's popularity in general boggles me...not because I think it's bad, I just never considered it to be that popular a concept.

Animal Crossing is a HUGE casual Nintendo IP. Its incredibly popular. Huge in the West. Huge in Japan.

That build your own house and town stuff with cute characters stuff is insanely popular.

We already got a big release so far for the whole year. Prepare for disappointment then.

If Smash Switch is a port of 4, Sakurai may not even have a major role. He could just be supervising while working on something else.

Would be kinda curious to see the meltdowns that would occur if Smash 4 Deluxe doesn't end up happening, considering everyone here seems to be expecting it...

Hi guys, I know this thread is not the place to ask questions but I don't want to make a thread so I hope this won't derail the thread much.
I plan to buy 3DS and maybe Switch later this year so I can get into Nintendo ecosystem, I missed a lot Nintendo games so I probably want to buy many games.
1. Which 3DS should I buy? The new 3DS in July or new 3DS XL?
2. I plan to go full digital with 3DS so which memory card is the best choice?
3. All eShop games I buy will link to Nintendo account or the 3DS? This confuse me a lot since I read some threads years ago about Nintendo account system
4. Are DS games available on eShop? I try to find 3 Castlevania on eShop web broswer but I don't if they're available on it.
5. Can you recommend me some 3DS games? Now I can only think about DQ VIII

Didn't that Serkan Toto guy said Bandai was making it and he holds a high position?

That seems to be the only kinda reliable rumor left.

Just wanna point out that that by "Smash 4 Deluxe" I mean an enhanced port with some new characters and stuff. I think Smash 4 will come to Switch, but only as a straight port of the Wii U version. I'm not expecting much new substantial stuff considering Sakurai made it a bit clear he was done with Smash 4 back in the Smash Broadcast, and I don't see them wanting to continue the project without the guy who's been directing it for like half a decade.

Another thing to consider is that Nintendo's still trying to sell us the 3DS and ergo the 3DS version of Smash. The original concept of Smash 4 was to have a handheld Smash game alongside a home console Smash. Of course, Nintendo can't exactly sell us the home console Smash game anymore because the console its on (Wii U) is dead, so I can see a Switch port being a quick replacement for the "home console" game to sell alongside the handheld version on 3DS, if you catch my drift. Considering Sakurai went out of his way to make sure the Wii U and 3DS games had total roster parity, I don't see the Switch port getting any new characters while the 3DS version doesn't.

Granted, I suppose one work around is just to make any new characters DLC for 3DS owners, but uh...RIP Ice Climbers if that's the case.

I would love to have a full fledged Animal Crossing game on a console again. I loved the original, and the newer features they brought to City Folk as well. That being said though, New Leaf is my favorite in the series (but I hated Wild World, the 13 year old me was really disappointed when there were no real in game holidays anymore). I do think I remember reading the devs said they made Amiibo Festival over a new AC game because they felt the series was best on portable devices. If that's the case then I am really excited because the Switch has those functionalities that they wanted. However, I don't think it would come out this year because of the mobile phone game, but I could be wrong. I'm just assuming there will be no connectivity between the two purposed games, and that the mobile phone game would play similar to what we see in New Leaf.

As for what I expect from Nintendo's E3 presentation...I just hope it's a good show. The direct before the ARMS one (which was awesome) was cool so I've got high hopes they'll deliver. I've been trying to predict what I think will be shown, and while I'm not very good at predictions, I'm guessing they'll announce/detail the paid online/virtual console program, maybe announce some ARMS amiibo, or just more amiibo in general. I'm crossing my fingers that Yoshi is in Super Mario Odyssey, and that Yoshi will be shown. Also, with all the upcoming Smash amiibo, and even having variants of those characters I feel Smash is coming to Switch. Whether or not it will be a port is another thing though...but I'm leaning towards it being a port and I'm fine with that because MK8D is a great one with updated features so I'm sure it will be great. Overall though, I'm just super excited for E3. I've only watched E3 presentations since 2010 but each year it gets better and better in some aspects. Here's to June 13th being spectacular! :D

If they make a HD version of this it won't be this year. I see it as a filler title to pad out their release schedule. They already have plenty of games to release this year, some of which aren't announced yet.

Animal Crossing is second only to Pokemon as the biggest ace they could possibly pull out to win over the 3DS crowd. Every game in the series has been among the best-selling games on their respective platforms. Especially if they tie it in with the mobile game, Animal Crossing on Switch would be massive.

GAF tends to sleep on the series a lot, I guess because the series is so intense a commitment that it distracts from other games. But the series is beloved by mainstream players. Honestly it's no different than VR or The Sims or anything. On one hand it's fully like you're living an entire alternate life, and the game is just enough of a time sink that you want to keep coming back to it, and just accessible enough that it's super easy to just play for 30 minutes a day. It's really relaxing to just spend a day fishing, and the neighbours and townfolk are so loveable and are always fun to interact with.

That seems to be the only kinda reliable rumor left.

Question is, how long are Nintendo interested in selling the 3DS? In the short-term, yes they're still pushing the 3DS and Smash Bros. Obviously, considering the game lineup on both systems and the fact that handhelds always stick around a while, it's true that they want to keep that going through at least 2017. But what about after that? The 3DS's only major games this year from them are late localizations, ports and B-tier games. Fire Emblem Echoes is the only new release so far that maybe counts as AAA; Ever Oasis seems like a big deal development wise but will probably be pretty cult at the end of the day. Maybe there'll be an AAA game announced at E3 (e.g. Pokemon Stars - is that Switch-exclusive, cross-gen, or god forbid, 3DS-only?), but that'll be it. The Switch has also been eating the 3DS's lunch in hardware sales so far, worldwide.

Nintendo's strategy with the New 2DS XL, the various games this year, and their back catalogue of evergreen games and Selects, is just a cheaper option and a safety net for people and families who want to get in on the Nintendo action but can't justify the Switch. But whenever possible they're going to want people to get the Switch.

Once 2018 rolls around and there are more Switch bundles, potential price cuts and discounts, and simply more games to sell, there won't be nearly as much need for the safety net and the 3DS will play a much smaller role in their strategy. If, say, Smash for Switch came out in Q1 2018, then that gives the 3DS and SSB for 3DS one last holiday to be pushed before they can fully start selling a Switch version and offering incentives to upgrade.

1. Wait for the new 2DS XL so you have more money to get games. The 3D is nice, but if your choice is between the New 2DS XL and the New 3DS XL, then go for the former.
2. If you get a New 2DS XL, the best you can get is a 32gb microSDHC.
3. Games will be linked to your Nintendo Account. However your Nintendo Account is linked to your 3DS.
4. They are not. You'll have to track down the original DS cartridges.
5. There are so many good 3DS games listing them all would take forever so I partly just say get whatever interests you. That said Ocarina of Time 3D is a must-have and I personally recommend Kid Icarus: Uprising, Sega 3D Classics Collection, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Phoenix Wright Trilogy, Xenoblade Chronicles, and Pokemon Moon. Also keep in mind you can get SNES and GameBoy games on Virtual Console like Super Mario World, Link's Awakening, and Super Metroid.

I imagine Nintendo pushing Mario Odyssey hard (like Zelda last year) and maybe announcing and showing some more titles, with detailed Nintendo directs coming at a later date.

I don't know how many games Nintendo can release by the end of this year, they can't blow their entire load this year. Hell, they won't need to if the system continues to sell like it is.

Actually, we might be more surprised by 3rd party titles being announced for the Switch rather than the Nintendo announcements.

There's an ARMs tournament and the revealed all the characters. Don't think they're going to spend much if any time in the actual show

I would imagine that they might show a final trailer of ARMS (like a summary of all features) and remind the audience that it's coming out in few days.

Animal Crossing would have a huge impact. Metroid would not.

If only people would realize that half ot that games gameplay is centered around waggle. Every enemy encounter, pretty much every item, lots of puzzles, even inserting freaking boss keys. There won't be a Skyward Sword without "waggle". Ever.

Thanks for your recommendation. So Nintendo Account is linked to my 3DS, can I deactivate the link if I want to link the account to a 2nd 3DS?

Honestly, I fear that Nintendo's E3 may be a bit underwhelming on the third party front.
