Nintendo locks background music for empty open world in Metroid Prime 4 behind amiibo paywall

It's insane that people will defend this type of thing, in this very thread.

It's not like they added some awesome new feature to the game or something, they literally stripped something out and then are trying to sell it back to you. This is worse than day 1 DLC, in my opinion.

"Let's make the experience worse for the player on purpose"
The mental gymnastics in this thread are fucking laughable lol. Can't believe anyone is defending this.

They should have locked the whole desert hub area too so that you didn't have to trudge through it. If I wanted to travel between levels I'd prefer going with the spaceship, not a frikkin' moped.

Amiibos are a scam that are just as bad as microtransactions. Here buy this 30 dollar hunk of plastic to get content for a game u already paid 60 to 70 dollars for. It preys on young kids and teens but since it's Nintendo people let it slide. Defending this is insane.
Where exactly does he defend amiibos in his post ?

...except you can unlock the radio by 100% completing the area, the amiibo it's just an easy route for lazy (and gullible) asses

True just like in Genshin you can totally get every 5-star character for free too if you log in daily and grind like a full-time job.

Yeah, a full priced game that has unlockable contents you can obtain by playing instead of paying and a predatory gacha that leverages on the FOMO are exactly the same :^)

Yeah, screw playing the game. Remember when we had this type of outrage when the music player, secret ending, and artwork gallery was locked behind 100% completion in Metroid Prime 3 and the Metroid Prime Trilogy? Crazy times.

You can obtain it in Genshin just like I said and you're not paying 70 just to start.

Crazy that fighting games used to have unlockable characters instead of paying for a season pass

Totally. Back then I kept thinking "this is fun, but where's the overpriced figurine I have to buy to unlock the music?" Missed opportunity.

Same, can't believe everything is still not paid. They expect me to play the game I bought to unlock stuff? Devs really don't value our time these days.

GUYS GUYS THIS IS SO MISLEADING!\
HEAR ME OUT, the shitty area that makes you fall asleep in the game has shitty royalty free ambient music that Nintendo sampled for a couple of minutes!

Guys, this is a nothingburger, locking decent music behind ridiculous paywalls is OK, I swear I'm not lobotomized! Listen to this masterpiece:

I loved long horseback rides in RDR2. I don't see anything in the desert in the few vids I've watched that looks bad. Gotta enjoy the journey sometimes fellas.

nothing screams more Metroid than a barren desert with no music, 10/10

how ppl are coping with that and giving this game perfect scores is beyond me, this is far from a Metroid game or a metroidvania game.

This is dumb, but I'm just gonna download the NFC and use my Flipper Zero to emulate it. This is the type of piracy I think is okay.

So stupid, Nintendo.
If a company is being cunty then I think you are well within your rights to give them the finger.

'for lazy' lmao

Why do you need to complete 100% of something just to listen a music in one of the worst areas ever?

At this point people already move out, but lets not use logic in this brainrot discussion.

Completing the area ≠ completing the game (which unlocks other stuff regarding the plot)

I agree though, discussing over something which has already started off in bad faith is pretty useless :^)

Good lord, this desert is easily the worst open world area ive ever seen in a video game... even Hyrule Field on OoT is more useful (and we are talking about a 27 year old game!!!).

Only been to 1 bit of the desert so far but I found an energy tank and the charge mode for my fire weapon so it seems to have some things in it, but it is large for the sake of being large and not very Metroid like.

Nintendo is the smartest company of all time.

Greater than Standard Oil or Russian Oligarchs have nothing on Nintendo when it comes to business.

100% complete the area to unlock music which you'll never listen to because.......you've 100% completed the area.

This is still stupid.

Why don't we have a thread like this every single time a new Amiibo is released then?

Might be because some are worse than others, but I don't know. It's a real conundrum.

Maybe for you. You seem to be stuck on very elementary concepts that reasonable adults understood and moved on from long ago. Keep fighting the good fight in the battle of relative miseries, though. I am sure you will win through opinion attrition!

So far i havent even noticed that theres no music in the desert hahaha... thx for this topic i now do

It's not just Nintendo. This happens because we accepted it before. I was quite disappointed when I entered a save room in the Resident Evil 2 Remake for it to cut out after 10 seconds. Couldn't believe when I saw a DLC for the classic music, which is just the music let's be honest. I bought it.

No no no, you have a Mario avatar so you're a fanboy that can't cope with reality. Nintendo is the worst. Like fourth reich bad. Just read the thread. 🤷‍♂️

The irony is that the ironic post is actually true.

The mushroom characters, PG8 and 540p resolutions have just done a number on many of you and you don't even get it.

Win? Who exactly is a reasonable adult here?

I'm not sure why me thinking another Amiibo's implementation is a lot worse than this one's, while acknowledging that they're all crap, is somehow bothersome to you. But thanks for rooting for me I guess.
