They arent getting the 5 million casual markets so they better start taking care of their 100k markets
The sooner nintendo start to realize this, the better
What am I defending here? Pointing out that saying Inaba and Sega would "regret" letting Nintendo give them money is a stupid thing to say?
This isn't my thinking, this is Nintendo's thinking. You absolutely NEED the hardcore/core market but Nintendo's deal is that they think they have the hardcore markey on lock as long as they release the next Mario, Zelda, Smash etc. And they wouldn't entirely be wrong, Nintendo fans are a staunch bunch but eventually it will bite them in the ass. They can't keep taking this demographic for granted. There's an obvious thinking flaw here in that they don't consider that many of those people are brand advocates. They're the people who'd invite friends to play in dorms, at their house, and would organize local events. They're the early adopters that in part drive more people to pick up the console because they had fun with it at a friend's house, or because a close friend can't stop talking out it in real life, on twitter, facebook or etc. Network effects lead to a broader adoption. A lot of casuals look for purchasing advice from that crowd.
Bayonetta means nothing.
Bayonetta is a charity case exclusive that was handed to them when people had delusions of Wii numbers in their eyes. Nintendo and Nintendo fans think that it will have a far bigger impact than reality will display.
And I guarantee that Sega and Inaba right now are regretting every moment of the situation they are in with the title.
But the people who are saying just kids and grandmas are being idiots.
Take it easy with Regie, he's just a marketing person not much say in desicion making.

The sooner people start to realise this, the easier it is to understand all this.
You think it feels nice to spend years working on a game only for it to be enjoyed by 100k people, when it could have been enjoyed by [Insert Bayonetta 1 sales] people?
And absolutely their pay is based on the sales performance of this game.
But I don't wish to derail this thread. So continue this conversation with me in a PM.
I still want to wait and see what Nintendo's stance was now that they've gone back and changed their minds.
Ah ok.I wasn't trying to say it's your thinking. Your post pretty much supports what I was trying to say.
