Nintendo of America not allowing SSBM to be streamed at EVO [Up: Decision Reversed]

Yes, because clearly, the game not existing at all was the better option.

You are missing the point of that post and the only point of that post.
Bayonetta 2 does not mean that Nintendo has a commitment to the hardcore gamer which is what the original post was about.
It was a hand out that fell into Nintendo's lap.
Nintendo has yet to show a real commitment (on the Wii U).
The 3DS exists in a world of its own, I swear it is like it is run by another company.

Good shit. Honestly curious what happened now, regardless of who dropped the ball where that seems like a really quick turnaround on Nintendo's end.

Of course this now raises the hilarious logistics of the stream schedule, because if they re-insert smash back in now it pisses off the other players who had games moved into those slots, especially Persona (which previously was ONLY going to have finals streamed). I know people were stepping up to do streams of Persona and SFxT before all this happened, wonder if they'll just try to more semi-officially accommodate all of those now then or something.

The best part of this (other than Nintendo showing a glimmer of self-awareness and a bunch of people not getting screwed) is all of the people going "heh drink your smash-tears lol" are going to be so upset.

man gamers are starting to get a bit of a record of demanding what they want "or else" and they receiving it

may this set yet more precedents

Well when stuff like DRM and not streaming a game which has a lot of support, there really is no way of defending it reasonably, there should be enough backlash to reverse the decision. Though Nintendo is that one company that never does anything lol.

wait Nintendo was actually listening... this... this isn't right... what's going on?! This is too good to be true-...

I heard thunder outside my window as soon as I read this. Weird.

Internet vs Nintendo , 1-0.

I love it when a company gets slapped so hard from their fans and the public that they have no choice but to backpeddle as quickly as possible and 180 their shit. :lol

So are the people who defended this on Miiverse before going to magically change their tune again too because Nintendo did?

If they're like the Xbox One stockholm syndrome people, they'll be pissed because now Nintendo had to bend to people complaining. What's next? Making companies unevenly distribute money through no region lock?

Yes!! So happy there was a quick turnaround, the community didn't deserve anything like this to happen to them given their strong support of the game. Someone at Nintendo's legal team is probably catching hell as we speak.

I was told by a former PR person for Nintendo that they viewed YouTube as a giant pirate site, and wanted everything related to Nintendo pulled off of it. Not only did they think this was a good idea, but that this was actually possible, too. So that's the mindset we're dealing with here.

They just don't seem to get this whole internet thing. It's like they are more interested in the tiny amount of revenue people may be generating off of their content than the millions' worth of free advertising their users generate for them.

And I do think that's what it comes down to for them, like with the Let's Play thing. They see a quantifiable amount of money being made off of their products compared to an unquantifiable marketing benefit.

I don't think it takes much thinking to realize that millions of positive impressions of your game is worth more than the pennies of YouTube revenue, but this is old-world thinking we're dealing with here.
i honestly to god thought my original joke post here was maybe being a bit over the top but piracy is literally Nintendo's thought process behind banning this stream my god
