Always glad to see the Ninja out and about

I knew it was EAD Ninja, he always talked about changing his name. Sometimes I cannot tell who's who from the ol GAF vs. a newb, with the many name changes & all.

So is Intelligent Systems part of R&D 1? I know they did Zero Mission, but if that were the case Advance Wars and Fire Emblem are missing. If not, are the even owned by Nintendo?

Intelligent Systems is seperate from R&D1. They are owned by Nintendo. They and R&D1 sometimes work together on games, hence why some games are on the R&D1 list and some (that are all IS like Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, etc.) aren't on it.

R&D1 actually produced and helped develop Famicom Wars and GameBoy Wars though (I *think* they did GBWars inhouse to be honest). Actually, I see a lot of "produced" R&D1 games missing (Card Hero, Starfi 1-2, Game & Watch Gallery 4, Sin & Punishment, etc).

If only they gave him a chance to work on a game with some inspirational possibilities again...

Hmmm, this guy has worked on two of the greatest racers ever. What has he been doing since? He needs another chance to shine, he can also show up Hideki Konno as the hack he really is if he gets a shot at the next Mario Kart.

Oh, and has "A Bell Tolls For The Frog Prince" seen a translation in any way shape or form?

Why is the director of Excitebike anonymous? Come out and bow already.

Exactly! After all these years why isn't the director for such an incredible and classic game revealed?

Well Jarrod, I was wondering how to interpolate the co-developed games.

For Example.

Super Metroid

A Bell Tolls For The Frog Prince

Trade & Battle: Card Hero

Here is a few of the games I've marked where R&D1 and Intelligent Systems merged designers to work on a game.
Well Super Metroid at least should likely go to R&D1, as I understand Intelligent Systems' involvement was limited to a few lent programmers. Otherwise you'd also have to consider NES Metroid co-developed (as IntSys converted the game from FDS to NES). Card Hero gets a bit trickier though and I've no idea on the frog ARPG. :/

And what game is this? Anyone have screens, etc. of it? It says it's an action RPG.

System: Gameboy
Developed by: Nintendo / Intelligent Systems
Genre: Action / Adventure
Save: Battery

This adventure game features you playing as a young prince in a struggle against a rival prince named Richard. On your adventure you become cursed, transforming into a frog (and later other animals) when you hear a mysterious bell ringing. Taking on other forms is necessary, however, to help you complete puzzles and progress through the game.

The ultimate aim is to conquer the giant castle, but you can only complete it in small sections at a time. Coming back to the castle in different guises allows you access to more areas.

Battles with enemies are not fought with any participation on your part - both combatants simply reduce each others health bars until one is defeated. You must avoid battles with enemies that deplete your health faster than you deplete theirs. Health upgrades aid you in fighting stronger enemies later in the game.

Jarrod what do you think of the credit system employed there? I still got shitload of games to upload. I don't think Metroid being converted is the same, as the physical game itself has no involvement as opposed to those games I mentioned up there. In all those cases there games are from R&D1 as the design, concept, art and music were all done by R&D1 in the co-produced games. I am just mentioning IS involvement which is depicted in green.

I added more R&D1 - IS co-produced games up there too.

Tadashi is currently the deputy manager at Nintendo EAD. He has been involved in several projects since joining Nintendo. His first title was Zelda II: The Adventures of Link. On the SNES he was involved with Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64 and F-Zero X and for the GameCube he's most recently been involved with Luigi's Mansion and Mario Kart: Double Dash!!.

Source.

There's a comprehensive list under "Notable Credits". N-Data == good.

Ninja, I think the credit system there is fine... but I also think you should include co-developed or produced games in the main listing with each division. You could put the associated developer in parentheses or something?

Anyone have info on 'Team Deer Force'? The name is featured quite prominently in Super Metroids credits. Is it the programming team from IS that Jarrod mentioned? All I could find was that they later joined with some other teams and formed IS.

It's kind of tough. Some games have three-four developers (Pokemon, Mother, Kirby: Mirror, Nintendo Puzzle Collection).

Man I wish all Team Shikamaru games were released in the US. Detective Club 1-2, Bell Tolls For the Frog Prince, Card Hero, Miho Tokayama High School, etc.

Team Deer Force was a one time only thing. Team Shikamaru is from R&D1, and that basically consists of the main planning guys who came up with cool-adventure scenarios for games. Yoshio Sakamoto (Metroid 1-4, 0 , Balloon Kid, Miho Tokayama High School, Detective Club 1-2, Card Hero) and Toru Osawa (A Bell Tolls For the Frog Prince, Detective Club 1-2).
