Shift Up CEO gifted all his employees Nintendo Switch 2 to celebrate Stellar Blade 3 millions sale

Call me out of touch here, but a $500 console (it's less in Japan) is not the big W for your team you think it is versus, y'know, giving them an actual bonus to their pay that could be significantly higher???

This is the celebration of a milestone and is far more generous that everything I have received working for companies 100 times bigger than Shift Up.

He also gifted everyone a PS5 and PS5 Pro. Should he rather have gifted them all an Xbox Series X when it launched and was a success on PS5?
?
Giving them a Switch 2 to celebrate the success of the game on PC is like gifting them all a Series X to celebrate its succesful launch on PS5.
I mean whatever but it is a little weird.

Something nice to see! Legends

I remember a while back someone did the same with PS5 I think but can't remember who. Maybe its them also?

I like my Steam Deck OLED, but who are we kidding? It's NICHE.
Right - but it is able to play the game they are celebrating (I think).
He was probably going to buy them all gaming PC's them looked at the prices and thought "Eh, it didnt do that well"

I'd have to quit getting consoles day 1 and be like. . .

Lol steamdorks really are the vegans of gaming. Constantly trying to shill that game rental player. It really bent them out of shape with the switch 2 beating it in power that's all they had to cling to during the switch 1 lifespan.

On topic, this is pretty awesome. What a great company and a a great game.

You mean, something like he did during New Year?

Yesterday, South Korean studio Shift Up held a New Year's event for its employees, ringing in 2025 by celebrating its successful release of Stellar Blade. To commemorate the team's hard work, all 311 employees were gifted PS5 Pros and a 5 million won (approximately $3,442 USD) bonus.

Yeah this guy sounds like a legend. And clearly knows how to run a successful business. Make a product you know your customers want, keep your employees happy and make sure they feel valued so they keep making said product for you.

This. I've literally worked at companies that are 10 times bigger than Shift Up, and something like this would never be approved.

This is great. The dude seems like a pretty cool guy and it's nice to see him rewarding his team for their successes. Nikke makes so much goddamn money that stuff like this doesn't even begin to scratch into profit.

I work for one of the biggest tech companies in the world and we don't even get Christmas presents anymore.

Lol I knew I would see complaining in here. There is nothing saying they didn't also get bonuses again. When he gifted all of the employees a PS5 Pro they also got a 5 million ₩ bonus as well (roughly $3500 I think).

Meanwhile, in reality:

If you look at the types of games that are big in SK I doubt many of them would be good on the Steam Deck.

I was fortunate enough to work for two companies that were really good about giving back to folks. Had a lot of events, parties, etc. When you have something like that it really sucks when you can't get it again, lol. It really does help company and employee morale.

It's the new hot item so it makes sense.

Also, who's to say they aren't developing a Switch 2 port and want to give all the employees the console to play on?

It would be in-line with their previous gifts, like PS5 and the PS5 Pro for their employees, after announcement and the success story of the game.

Also, "horrible"? South Korea is the 3RD biggest PC Gaming market in the world, after China and the U.S. It's not even in the same realm of comparison of the current state of Xbox in Japan.
Yeah so, a steamdeck is not comparable with an actual PC, also if PC is so big there, why gift another PC(handheld) they already have one better give something they don't have yet and what is better than the newest piece of hardware that just came out.

They could also just ignore their employees, give them nothing and go on with their day.
I really don't understand this way of thinking, yes a salary increase would be better but what is wrong with getting a present, they are not obligated to do that so it's a really nice gesture of the company.
Didn't they also give their employees a day off when MH Wilds came out?

Uhh what point would that be? Korea is PC land. Console gaming has never been popular there.
This was the point i was making, the second part was just a joke.

What enemies?, they are not a Sony studio this game is not made by Sony they payed for exclusivity.
Gifting a Steamdeck would be horibble, that's like giving a japanese kid an xbox for his birthday.

Meanwhile I got a pat on the back today, I don't need your consoles when my hard work is getting recognised.

Meanwhile, my friend's boss, who is the manager of Arbys, let him borrow her Series S for the weekend. I think there might be some hanky panky going on.

I think your friend needs to up his game. I won't date any Arby's managers without a Series X.
