Nintendo says “a steady supply” of Switch consoles is on its way to retailers

Following the console's launch on Thursday, most major US retailers are currently out of stock online, although some still have in store availability.

Speaking to CBS Mornings, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser said the company will have "a steady supply" of Switch consoles making their way to retailers over the coming months.

"We have a steady supply of manufacturing that will be coming in, and we believe we'll be able to meet that demand all the way through the summer, through Father's Day, and then on into the holiday period also."

Well executed launch, no servers failures, one exclusive every month, And a constant supply for the rest of the year.

I genuinely don't think I can remember a time where almost every single interested peoson could just walk into a retailer in the middle of the day and leave with a new console, lol. Especially one in high demand, so no, not like the Wii U, lmao.

You'd have to go back 20 years or more. Before the online shopping boom took off.
Yeah, no kidding. But even then I don't really remember much cause I just preordered whatever I could and treated it like layaway, lol. Made it easier to obtain when I was younger and the income wasn't really there.

It was easy in europe after the PS3 release.
Nice!
Were you around for the Wii U?
I meant for a console with higher demand (lmao)

I think I remember seeing the Wii U in store? But not as plentiful, and not as many people buying them. At least that I knew personally. What a weird launch that was. I think I got mine around launch because they were just around. But it just didn't feel the same as the demand for the Switch 2 feels much higher IMO. I've also seen a ton of people I personally know just go get one, a few preordered, but majority didn't.

3 Million in just 24 hours… Nothing comes even remotely close to this… And probably 5-6 Million for the first month (That's almost half of the Wii U entirely life time sales in just one month)

They don't seem to be selling out in the UK.

Just walked into my local ASDA and you can buy the console in store.

However, all games appeared to be sold out.

I see scalpers on eBay already lowering their prices lol you love to see it. All that hassle for $50 - $100
You'd be lucky to make $50 selling the S2 at $700 on Ebay. Unless you live in a no-state tax state. I barely saw any sold on Ebay at $700 or more.

Ebay meanwhile makes over $100 at that price.

Good they will be to 4 million in no time 👍

Nintendo was right to delay launch, this and the software lineup were really well done. They're the only company firing on all cylinders right now except maybe for Valve.

This is unreal to see them just out like that.

This reminds me of my childhood. Nowadays in Los Angeles, they got them locked up like Fort Knox.

I told before ill tell it again. This launch is better than haters tought and worse than blind fanboys want to admit (and before a blind fanboy starts to cry,.. i have one)

So because one store has some stock they are not selling out........ Seems to small of a sample to make a judgement.

The real consoles are locked up. Those are just display boxes. If you want the console, you'll need to take a display box to the till.

You're right. I had a look at other stores. I can also order a Switch 2 from Argos. MKW bundle has sold out, but the standard console is available

There are a bunch of Switch 2s on FB marketplace selling for basically retail price.

I personally have two extra Switch 2s, myself. I wasn't gonna scalp them, I just ordered them in case Walmart or GameStop decided to cancel preorders. At this point I'll probably just return them, since most of my friends managed to get one.

Perhaps they have made lots of stock available. Amazon have no stock unless it's the base console from a third party seller.

I'm glad that finally a console is available day one that I don't want. 🫤

More like 26 for the Dreamcast. PS2 had 1/2 the US expected stock and was impossible to get, the Wii was out for a year and a half before supply normalized. The PS3's high price made it easier to find a few weeks after launch, but it still quick sold out at launch.

This fall with be 20 years since the launch of the 360.

Glad to hear they've stockpiled enough consoles to eliminate the scalping economy.
The shipping box is tiny too, means a lot more can be stuffed into each shipping container before it leaves the port.

The Wii was fucking stupid here. I only got one because I was in a store on my lunch break and a mate who worked there said some had just arrived. That was months after launch and they were still selling as soon as they hit the shelves.

While this may be the most successful launch ever (will wait to see the official numbers and not a tweet from a rando on the internet), if I am Nintendo, I would still want to see consoles selling for hundreds of dollars above retail.

The fact that scalpers can't sell these devices indicates that supply is out pacing demand and Nintendo will need to appeal to consumers outside of their early adopting rabid fanbase.

This could also be a negative for Nintendo. It will be next to impossible to understand how inflated these sales are with scalper purchases. If they continue to pump S2s out thinking that there is more interest than there is, having an excess number of units on the shelf during the holidays could cancel out the fomo that typically extends new console hype.

Maybe in most countries, but not in USA. It benefits Nintendo to squeeze in as many consoles as they can before the tariff situation changes again

It's all about the software sales, they rather have them be in consumer hands than sitting in scalper garages.
