Switch 1 Oled is now only $50 cheaper than Switch 2. Surely it's only a matter of time before Switch 2 prices increase as well?

Switch 2 hardware prices are likely set to follow, they're just taking the hit right now because it's important to build mindshare at launch, but the fact Nintendo reiterated a 15m hw forecast for this FY is suspicious in this sense, could be a conservative move, could be they know what's ahead.

I really expect this to kill switch 1 sales completely in the states.... Also if the switch 2 is readily available this is probably going to prompt people who were going for a switch 1 to just get the new one.

Price increase for your console from the previous gen is unprecedented right?

People though sony and ms were crazy for rasiing ps5/xbs prices, but nintendo out did them by doing the switch 1.

Pretty small increases on the Switch 2 side but very glad I bought a second set of joycons last week.

$40 price increase on the OG Switch is fucking insane though. We're in crazy times

110 for a pro controller 2 is rough. Glad I have one already but yeah, real effects of tariffs.
Sorry I corrected that typo. It's now $90 but still...

Glad I got myself and my brother Switch 2's when I had the chance (and a pro 2 controller)

how the hell did the switch go up....nintendo has to be making $300 a unit at this point lol

if 8 years ago it was $260 to make one, and the oled model was only $10 more to make, this is insane nintendo lol

Not sure they ever redesigned the internals to decrease costs, but without doing so, it becomes more expensive to manufacture as the volume orders for those parts reduce and factories have moved on to more modern architecture.

They should have redesign the Switch internals and cut the price.

Edit: ChatGPT suggests that in addition to the T1's manufacturing costs and lack of miniaturization, that it's a strategy to push consumers towards the Switch 2. Sad, but makes sense.

Thankfully I bought most things I needed before price increase.

The days of waiting until console prices goes down is over.

I feel like the only reason the Switch 2 hasn't gone up yet is because they stockpiled tons of them in the US in preparation for the tariffs, and because they're still gauging the impact a Switch 2 price increase will have on consumer adoption.

If you want a Switch 2 I suggest getting one now.

It's shitty but it's happening to literally everything that has to deal with the Asia to North America transit, with small businesses getting the hefty brunt of it. We can blame Nintendo all we want but I doubt they'd be increasing prices if not for these ridiculous tariff hikes, same goes for Microsoft and the Xbox price hikes. At least they are fighting to keep the SW2 price, they know they'd be screwed if that went up.

Nintendo made an effort on the Switch 2 price, as evidenced by their lower margin results.

But for Switch 1 you can expect any tariff effect to be fully transferred to the price.

Good move by Nintendo to create more FOMO regarding Switch 2 consoles which are still at launch price. People will probably panic and buy the Switch 2, which is what Nintendo is hoping for I am certain.
