Nintendo Switch 2 is 75% ahead of the unit sales pace set by Switch 1 in the U.S.

Looks like the Switch 2 has had a pretty decent first two months in the U.S. And is outpacing the original Switch.

How do the first two months sales numbers compare to other consoles launches?
From Installbase.

"For the ones wondering sales of ~480K during the second month of a console launched outside the holiday season (Nov->Dec) is the best result recorded until now.
~2.08M is also the new record for the first two months (regardless of holiday season launch or not)"

The thread title makes it sound launch aligned but the article compares data from last month?

Nintendo Switch 2 is what largely contributed to that number. All other console sales fell year-on-year. Nintendo Switch was down 52 percent, PS5 dipped 47 percent, and Xbox Series dropped by 69 percent.

Hmmm, didn't realize watching a video automatically equated to 'encouragement'. Some of ya'll( and the rolling eyeballs above you who quoted me) take this shit way too serious.

I was mostly just teasing you for watching this grifter.

That said, the YouTube algorithm has two key metrics: click-through rate and average view duration. So, yes, clicking on the video is absolutely a form of encouragement. The entire reason he uses salacious, deceptive titles instead of something more honest and nuanced is to get suckers to click so that the algorithm pushes his video to more people.

Oh, I didn't take your comment as being light-hearted.

I mean, it's whatever. I watch all kinds of stuff that pops up on my feed. Unless it's something I find morally abhorrent or offensive, I may watch out of curiosity or sheer boredom. I know that's 'feeding' the channel but someone talking shit about a video game system isn't something I'd actively go out of my way to not watch. That being said, I have watched that guys stuff prior to Switch 2 and I do agree with someone above saying he's more or less made it his channel's identity.

I hear that. Lord knows I have watched more than my share of dumb shit that has popped into my YouTube feed.

I hope other console makers take note that if inventory is available during the launch window it kills scalpers and sets launch sales records.
It's difficult to predict demand. First you have to find suppliers that have the capability to manufacture the way Nintendo has and then you have to take a risk and place such a large order: Will the demand be there? Might there be a major design flaw in the device that has to quickly be changed? Etc.

Is that because there is more demand or just more units to go around for those that want them?
That is an interesting question. Switch launched in 2017, ages ago. We shouldn't compare PS5 and XSX because these were constrained by supply issues.

The result is of course impressive, but then we need to see what legs will it have. By absurd prices being kept on Switch 1 it's clear Nintendo wants to kill that generation asap, question is if people will follow.

He is known for his industry predictions!

Leaving out one simple fact. The Nintendo Switch was limited in sales due to it was sold out. Nintendo could not make them fast enough.

The Switch 2, Nintendo made a ton of because they have been sitting on it for awhile. If Nintendo Switch 1 were made as abundant as the Switch 2, it would be no contest. I can walk into almost any retailer and buy a Switch 2 right off the shelf. The Switch 1 was flying off shelves it's first 2 years after release. Nintendo couldn't keep up.

BTW, the Switch 2 is only selling well at the present time due to novelty. It's already wearing off and the bad news keeps coming in for the Switch 2. Seems like 3rd party games mostly are going to run like ass so it' cannot be one's main platform.

Laughit up now, In a year from now you are going to look like a total tool. I am saving all these so you morons who want to act superior will get spoon fed your crow.

These guys are total idiots that nobody really watches in the first place. They loved Nintendo nintendo in the N64 and GameCube era... But simply hate them now. Sad really.

Yes.. it's such a novel groundbreaking concept of making sure consoles are available to purchase. And I guess alll those claims of poor sales because a local store had some in stock at the time of somebody's visit are not proof of low sales. Imagine my sheer shock at an other unbelievable phenomenon, Perhaps.... just perhaps, stores are selling out then getting more stock in the traditional manner. I know this sounds like some kind of out there alien concept.... But it just might be true lol..

To be fait this was pretty much said on here throughout the original Switch's first year or so... Impending doom and a sales bomb were always just around the corner. Not so sure if this is what those members thought or wanted... But I am pretty sure which one my money was on lol..

It was easy to overpass Switch 1. Nobody expected anything from Switch after the failure of Wii U.

Its like Playstation 2 selling more than Playstation 1. Nobody expected anything from Sony as they were noobs in videogame industry with first Playstation.

The desire for reasonable level of graphics for gaming is real. No need to constantly chase graphics. Just make good games for gamers. Stay in your lane Nintendo the others going to try to copy your success as usual.

i'm afraid some will need to eat them.
I remember one poster in infamous thread where I see You as well, said willing to eat crows if NSW1 success

I don't know about NSW2, but just maybe
It's early days of course. But pretty decent in the traditionally quiet period of the year. Even more so with Nintendo as they tend to have their best sales over the holiday period.
