I'm with the Nintendo fans on this one.

Full PS4 performance in a thin tablet with great battery life and cheap consumer pricing is entirely possible in early 2017.

Make it happen Nintendo. We're sure you can do it.

1tb sd cards shouldnt be a problem next year in march/april, so i dont care as long as its not the same bullshit as sonys own memory-system.

why does it have to be cheap????

i dont get this everytime. if its powerful, it can be pricey. or reasonable priced.

have a look at the fucking iphone. in germany it sells like shitcakes and people arent bothered about the abysmal price.

That reasoning worked wonders for the 499 US Dollars xbox one.

My question is: will Nintendo be able to future-proof the Switch based on the alleged specs? Like, it's possible, right?

Sound battery life is in line with 3DS, or Vita or every mobile device you use for gaming.

Oh sorry... I posted in the damn random twitter from random guy thread that should be closed and not bumped up.

I think he was being snarky.

It has to be cheap because noone is paying a high price for PS4 level, especially when PS4 pro will be out and Scorpio is coming. There's pretty much a top limit to what people pay for game consoles.

Nvidia shield has 3+ hours battery life while gaming, but on a 1200p screen. The Switch has (it seems) a 720p screen which already uses a lot less energy, and it also uses less power to produce a 720p image compared to a 1200p one. Sum to that some improved battery efficiency and I would guess at least 4h30 - 5h of battery life? seems more than fine.

They are saying its a 'home console' but they just say it to not kill the 3ds, Switch was made to be used both at home and on the go so they will not shit on the battery.

Eh people will adapt. Everyone I know with a 3DS already carries their charger with them at all times
So we may have to carry the dock with us at all times? That would absolutely kill the appeal of the system to me, I'd hesitate to call it portable at all.
I hope there is a separate adapter for charging the tablet unit on the go, especially if it does have a shit battery.

Then you're delusional. Nintendo can't do any of that.

  • Good battery life
  • Performance between Wii-U and XB1
  • Cheap
Pick two.

Of course what I wrote was delusional. I'm just going along with the other Nintendo fantasist.

Regarding leaks, this was interesting:
http://***********.********.com/post.php?id=8108853

Uh, sorry, banned link.

Ok, let me copy-paste. :) (don't ban me!)

Some days ago someone on that-forum asked:
"What the heck is takeing nintendo so long?"

Another user, jProphet, asnwers:

"Conflcting marketing messages.
One could lead to... trouble, had to scrap."

Then, yesterday, AFTER the Nintendo Switch name was revealed:
"Ok, now I can explain.
Now, see what I meant here?
They had a marketing issue and had to settle it down with Acer before announcing the Nintendo Switch.
http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/series/aspireswitch10
There was also a "Plan B" ready since mid-september. Things with Acer have been sorted out, though, so here is Nintendo Switch with no more delays."

So, the guy actually knew the console name?

And if this is legit, are his other "leaks" about "Mario Village" too?

i mean if you think a handheld almost a generation slower than a 3.5 year old console should cost just as much or more than said console more power to you

You know that's not a rule, right? Miniaturization and portability have always commanded a price premium. Home consoles don't have built in screens or batteries. They barely have to worry about power consumption and heat dissipation. Apple has sold hundreds of millions of iPads that are slower than a 360, let alone an Xbox One.

I would be happy with near X Box one power with 3 hours battery life for 300 euros.
I don't know if it's possible though.

WiiU power in portable mode. Maybe more cores get unlocked when docked. That's it.

ipads and tablets are not a market comparable to consoles or console handhelds. why do people keep bringing this up. you should go back and look at the success/failure rate of portable consoles that cost as much as high powered consoles. and again this is nintendo. their brand power is pretty much garbage these days

IMO, if we could get 2.5-3 hour battery life and performance on the level of Xbone or close, that would be an outstanding accomplishment.

Nintendo magic.

If he did, why not reveal it before the official announcement? In principle anyone can say something incredibly vague like "conflicting marketing messages".

Yep, that's a good question.

Maybe fear?

Yet, the "Switch" issue with Acer seems real.

yeah, I guess we cant expect anything else from Nintendo... too bad really.
well I am getting one and selling it as soon as I finish Zelda
And you decided this before actually knowing what screen type (probably IPS btw, judging from the new 3DS) does it actually use. Or, you know, the line up.

This is getting a bit too ridiculous.

If the 4gb rumour pans out then this device will be doa for long term 3rd party support. Industry wide, devs have built current gen games, yes including xb1, around a 8gb allowance for 3 years now. Yes I know current mobiles and tablets max around the 6 gb mark, with a few announced with 8, and I really hope the switch opts for 8gb ram.

If not then we can kiss long term support for this outside of 1st/2nd party good-bye.

A 720p screen on that portable is enough. Games are going to look great on there.

It does not need 1080p.

4 gig of memory is also enough for portable gaming. The big question is just how capable is that GPU.
