Anything's possible but it doesn't seem like people prefer playing AAA games anywhere as opposed to playing with the best graphics they can get.
I think the difference is if we're looking at a system that's close to Xbox One in power and can play that same game on the go at a lower res, then that's something completely different than the Vita, PSP, or 3DS. Not having to buy a separate game just to play on the go is a pretty tempting proposition. It doesn't matter to me all that much, but I can see how it would to others.
Still, if people cared about graphics so much, then the Wii, PS2, NES, etc. wouldn't have been the top systems in their generation. I think the most important thing is quality, software lineup, and a compelling price. I could be wrong with all this, but this is my feeling based on what I've seen over the years.
