Not to mention there's a huge amount of indie (who are way less likely to have access to dev kits yet) and mobile developers (who aren't developing for consoles period) who are there too

They've also been tighter than a duck's arsehole with dev kits.

TOmorrow I'm going to get up early and watch it. Then, if I'm impressed, I'll go and pre-order one from GAME on my way home from work.

Another thing not mentioned in the 4chan leak is the Rabbids RPG. Which is strange because everything we've heard about that suggests it is a launch game.

There's more than that there. No launch window in recent memory has had two games that hit as hard as Zelda and a new mainline Mario. Not many people bought Wii U's. We can all have our personal litmus tests, but this speculated lineup is pretty goddamn stacked with some spectacular games.

Nintendo's really in a lose-lose with these ports. I've got to imagine over half the people complaining about their existence would complain even louder if Nintendo didn't do them.

A Nintendo console that already has Kart, 3D Mario, the first new Zelda in like a decade, Splatoon, mainline Pokémon, possibly Smash and Gamecube VC (which will definitely include Smash) in the first year is seriously insane. Plus the rumored new ip. Shit is just hot as hell and I'm having a hard time taking anyone who looks at that and goes 'meh' seriously as someone who was even remotely interested in Switch.

I think it makes more sense to launch at the same time. Especially if the Switch will be supply constrained. People not fortunate enough to get a Switch at launch could still pick up the Wii U version of Zelda to play while they wait for a restock.

Nah, they'll want people to have to pick up a switch to play Zelda, that's the point. They won't want them to buy a Zelda for Wii U and therefore dodge getting a Switch.

The whole point of those anonymous dev polls is that you're not breaking NDA / can't be caught by answering.

An NDA can't stop you answering an anonymous poll designed to help your fellow devs assess the state of the industry.

Would the NDA factor into this polling, though? I would imagine it is anonymous, so it should not be a major hindrance for devs to talk about. Maybe I'm wrong, though.

I'm starting to wonder if I'll see gaffers already sitting outside my local Gamestop when I show up about 20 minutes before they open. I figured I would be the only one there.

I'm honestly starting to think that this presentation is going to end up being like 15 minutes long. They'll announce pricing and launch date and then announce a few games that will be available at launch. Then say to tune in to things like the Treehouse later today for more information and then thank everyone for attending.

do you guys remember how the wii u preorders were handled? they put the links live as soon as the announcement was done? did it sold out right away? I remember placing a preorder at bestbuy.com, and it was easy, but I can't remember if I did right away or not

I think I've finally got too old to stay up for these things! Will be enjoying the conference from the comfort of work with a coffee and a bagel at about 8am.

Still fondly remember the lead up to the 3DS, when I wasn't even confirmed on GAF. God I was insane over the thing. Then I played nothing but Pilotwings and Pokemon Black for 3 months. Such nostalgia of checking the Activity Log, playing the shitty little AR games. What a cracking little device.

I'll probably pick up the Switch at launch, I'd feel oddly unsettled if there was a Nintendo handheld out there I didn't own.
