Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 2016 Thread [*LIVE*] (No childish commentary allowed)

Treehouse following a Direct/Conference is the way to go IMO.

But that's kind of how it's already done. A conference happens and then people play it live on the floor. So the only difference here is that the company itself is playing it which isn't as good IMO since they have an obvious reason to make it look and play better.

"You're always doing something", only problem is, whenever you are doing something, it's mostly watching a character move or jamming the A button like a maniac.

Wait I'm confused they just showed 3 new games is this like their actual E3 conference or something?

Pretty much.

Pokemon Sun/Moon and Zelda Tuesday
Pokemon Go, Oasis, Box Boy, Mario Party, and so on Wednesday.
And then more stuff Thursday assumedly.

Instead of a 2-hour conference with 5-minute trailers for all their games, they give each a half-hour to an hour bit of playtime so you can get a better idea of how it plays.

This game can only work on handhelds, I guess.

Not at all, unless movement choices are secret? I didn't notice...

This grid layout is brilliant! This is the future of Mario Party for sure...

But if you can't use other characters, this is a huge fail that will really hurt the game...

They all picked toad. She specifically said there are all kinds of characters to pick.

Not true at all. She said the other characters still have a role to play, which was confirmed in the game when mario appeared to be "recruited".

This is not mario party.

We're never getting a true mario party game again.

I mean, it's silly to remove thigh bones or change the manager lady's position on a couch, but I can only complain about it so long. I really don't care too much, but I'm not happy.

The thing is, it's obvious who the target audience #FE is designed for, so it's baffling that they are trying to censor a lot of the more lewd sequences and imagery. I mean, the whole level that focuses on the creepy stalker kind of loses it's impact in the Western Localization.

but Wednesday is today?

Ah yes, sound logic you make thinking you can only pick Toad in the main mode of a game called Mario party.

It's specifically called Toad Scramble and they said you play as Toad only in this mode. And we just saw that you can recruit Mario on the board. Ergo the other characters are not playable in this mode.

And they said this is the main mode.

This better not be the only mode, there better be a mode where you can play as any of the other characters.

The "Mode" isn't the problem... this looks like the best direction Mario Party has ever taken. More strategy game than luck game, in terms of movement.

but if you can only play Toad, this is a MAJOR ISSUE

No Nintendo Direct this year, this is the second (and apparently final) day of Treehouse Live, so yes. This is what they're doing instead of Sony releasing lots of trailers one after the other. Both are targeted more towards the game purchasing public than the press at this point, really, even if Sony invites the latter.

I have a short attention span so I think I prefer Directs and Sony's GAMES GAMES GAMES conferences best though.

Yep, too much info gets lost in this style

This is my complaint right now. But even still, I don't care about the unique aspect of simultaneous turns; the board design (that we've seen so far) and the fact it's still using boss mini-games as a metric for who wins is not what I want in Mario Party.

Gotta say, this looks pretty good. I believe they did say you could play as other characters. Are they perhaps all picking Toad to hide the full roster at E3?

I think both the devs/company playing it and the people playing it on the show floor work well side by side. We get to hear devs/Nintendo staff discuss the game while viewing footage that is generally of a better quality than that of the live demos caught on camera. Then you have all the raw footage from people playing it live.

They did not say you could play as other characters.

They said the other characters have a role. And they just showed what that role is.

Everyone starts as Toad. You have you recruit the other characters and THEN you can play as them.

Whoever thought that was a good idea has absolutely no idea what they're doing.

lol

Actually doesn't look completely horrible like the past few mario parties have, so I'll be cautiously looking forward to it. Have they said if it has online yet?
