I set my mind thinking it was going to be like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless, bored to death and wanting to kill myself, but the movie was better than I thought. Mark Walhburg did an excellent job, and IMO should be nominated for Oscar for best supporting actor. Anyone even see the movie?

One of my favorites! Such a great film! The sense of humor was perfectly my style. A few people I know said the dialogue was too fast so they couldn't understand it :lol Not the sharpest tools in the shed.

I had a hard time sitting through this movie. The previews had me hoping it would be the next The Royal Tenenbaums, but it really wasn't. Sure, some of the dialogue was good, but overall the whole thing seemed....hollow, which is what the movie wants you to think life is anyways. Mark Wahlburg was good in it, but I don't know if I can even justify it as a rental....

Ugh. Sometimes I have to remind myself of taste that GAF has. I just loved the part where Walhburg was talking about how bad jesus is at that black man's house during dinner.

If it makes you feel any better, Mortimer, I liked Mark Wahlberg's character.

Everyone I know who saw says its not nearly as pretentious as it looks. I still find that hard to believe.

My thoughts exactly. I really, really wanted to like this movie and in the end I was just like "eh". I wish there would've been more absurd bits, like the rubber-ball-in-the-face or Marky Mark slugging a fellow firefighter because he referred to Ratzo Rizzo as a "therapist".

Same here. I liked it but I wouldn't recommend it to most people.

I really really enjoyed it. My only gripe was that some of the humor felt a bit too forced. I'll definitely grab the dvd when it's out.
