No Man's Sky - August 9, 2016

I believe it's meant to show the different variations of the aliens. The left was a design originally seen in some behind-the-scenes stuff

No only that but I thought the races have different classes within them i.e. scientist, trader, etc.. so it could also stand to reason that not only do some look different for variety's sake, but that different suit sets also denote different class/function?

Is there any word on whether or no we will get reviews before release?

I'm guessing not? Especially if everyone (on their platform) is sharing the same galaxy; having everyone start playing on the same day, press included, gives the exploration more of a communal feel I'd imagine. If you're waiting on reviews though before jumping in, this is the perfect game to do that with. You'll still be discovering things at the onset that none of us will ever see.

Galactic Fork

A little fluff between the ears never did any harm...

I hope they have more variation than just humanoid in space suit. Like arms, maybe some vaguely insectoid, glowing mass of energy, gas filled, etc.

I'm genuinely glad that Sony did not haul them out for another E3. I'm really excited for the game but I got the feeling the last few times that Sean didn't want to be there likely because they are working hard enough just trying to finish the game.

Can't wait for August.

Is the PC release the same day as PS4 or does the PS4 get it first?

Steam currently has it listed as "12th August" so that would be 3 days later than PS4. It currently hasn't been confirmed one way or the other (to my knowledge) so I would assume this is an error on Valves part and it will be the same day. Well, I hope so anyway, no reason to delay it on PC for PS4 - and I say this as someone who will be playing on PS4.

Okay thanks!

Yay! We finally settled with Sky (they own the word "Sky"). We can call our game No Man's Sky. 3 years of secret stupid legal nonsense over

This is the same folks who made Microsoft change Skydrive to Onedrive... so it was pretty serious

On the plus side perhaps this is the real reason Skynet never happened...

Edit: Just saw there's a topic dedicated to this discussion so ignore this post then, that's what I get for checking subscriptions first: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1235643

Really liked the asymmetrical look to that ship they flew by in that second video, and even thought the shot this video on a potato, the colorfulness of NMS still shines through. Man I can't wait for August.

I wonder if/when PS4 Neo launches we might see a patch improving some stuff like draw distance. I remember Sean saying/writing that their tech is pretty scalable in that regard.

I still don't know what this game is about. Can someone break it down or link me to a video please
Here ya go.

That requires reading.

In short, trade, fight, explore, in galaxies with a loose objective to get towards the center.

If you need quest givers and an overarching motivation like finding a water chip, closing oblivion gates, or searching for your kinda-daughter, it may not be the right sandbox for you.
