No Man's Sky - August 9, 2016

yeah where was No Man's Sky

I was expecting a VR reveal tonight...

NMS isn't going to be a PSVR launch title, I just don't see that as plausible at this point. I think we should just hope at this point it actually arrives on the new date. Sean has hinted that VR in NMS would probably be more of a separate mode, more of an exploration thing than the full game experience.

I'm planning on accepting my fate, too. I even feel like I might be disappointed if I start on an "easy" planet. Those pre-order bonuses for the extra resources and upgraded multi-tool or whatever? Definitely not using them.

Yeah I'm actually surprised that Sean Murray even allowed stupid pre-order things like that. Amazon is offering a ship with a hyper drive from the start. Lame.

I wonder if the game is there at all? I haven't been paying too much attention to things as of late. Is NMS going to be on the floor at least?

SO.......

Was looking for games on the Playstation Store to pre-order for the current 'Spend $100 and get$15' deal going on right now and was thinking of this one.

Just interesting that the current release date on the PS store - both the console and the website - is set at 12/31/16 (the generic one they use often when no release date is set) instead of 8/9/16 - esp when they have the release dates set for games like Horizon, Resident Evil, For Honor, etc.

Also noticed Best Buy took it off their "get a $10 dollar certificate for pre-ordering" list

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but now wondering how fluid this release date is right now.

From the montage at the end, and in comparison:

I'm honestly surprised there hasn't been a beta or something like that announcement at all.

And it was odd not seeing it at the conference but assume they are in crunch time so no e3 for hello games.

I've got the digital pre-order and in my DL queue it's showing 10th August.

Yeah they already delayed the game once, they have got to get that game buttoned up and ready for release before doing any more press. They gain literally nothing good showing it before they know with 100% certainty that the game is ready to go in early August. And given how close to release NMS was delayed, I have little doubt the people of Hello Games are putting in unhealthy amounts of overtime to get that game out the door.

I'm only a little disappointed that it doesn't have anything E3, I would take that as a sign that they're busting ass to get out by that date.

I honestly cannot fathom what a beta for NMS would even look like. Maybe a time limited demo? I doubt they have time to do any of those things.

Why is it lame? And you're acting like Amazon said "we need DLC. MAKE PRE-ORDER DLC".

It's lame because the beginning is a big part of the experience as far as I'm concerned, the planet you start on specifically. Start on a planet, learn the mechanics then make your way to other parts of the system. Then eventually upgrading to leave the system. I think the progression and pacing is ruined by having a hyperdrive from the start.

It probably wasnt his decision, but one made by Sony.

Probably.

According to Sean Murray's Twitter, they are refunding people's preorder's on the 16 if you don't reply to an email they sent out (one I haven't received!), and says not to worry about the date change on PSN. So maybe that's a US thing since the person above has the 10th of August.

Sean said ages ago that they wouldn't be having an open beta, which I an understand as things would get spoiled. I'm sure they've had enough friends and family test the game over, and over, and over.

August 9th can't come quickly enough, though I ordered from GAME so I don't expect it to arrive on time.

I'm glad NMS was not shown at the conference. Everyone is getting tired of seeing it and people just want to play it now.

I disagree. I love seeing this game and will accept any opportunity to see more.

Plus, I think a lot of people were hoping for a VR announcement.

Looks like you didn't even try.

There's not even anything to figure out.

Look like two pages back. Loads and loads of dicsussion and clarification on it. Do some reading, it's the only way to find out. Trailers can't/won't tell you.

I'm being facetious. Although I am glad they spared us another "let's land here and look around the cockpit" moment @ E3. Just release the game already.

I wouldn't have minded a quick one and a half minute trailer or some along those lines. Just a bit of a teaser to remind us it's coming. I would have loved a demo or some sort to drop. I understand why they wouldn't do that but they could have released the star system that has Balari 5 in it and we could have messed around with that. Chances are none of us will find it in normal play anyways.

I would expect something like that a month or maybe a few weeks before the game ships.

NMS isn't something you can show. It is only something you experience. *rolls eyes* LOL.

Y'all crazy. Hope this lives up to your hype!

They arent going to release anything before the actual release date. No demo, no beta, nothing. They have no reason to do that and i think it might actually be a bad move. The real impact of the game is gone if you only get a single solar system.

Hoping to see the word "gold" associated with NMS within the next 3-4 weeks.

Then all Sony and HG need to do is a nice marketing blow out the 2 weeks before release, and finally... August 9th comes around :)

Yeah, I was waiting for that around the time the Delay was leaked. I don't think I'll allow my hopes up until the Gold announcement.

A demo would give a lot of people an idea about the game, those who still legitimately say what is the game about. I guess it could hurt them as much as it could help them. I'm getting it either no matter what, a demo would have been a nice E3 surprise.

It's important to remember they are a ~20 person team and they were behind schedule enough to have to delay the game. I think they literally wouldn't have time to put a demo together. They're probably getting very little sleep right now.

I can't wait for it to go Gold. Once that happens, everyone can breath that it's actually coming out.

So many people have no idea what this game is that it's a top seller on Amazon and the CE sold out instantly.

Lol. Internet sarcasm fail again.

Uh, the idea is that you have fun in the game from hours and hours of long-form adventure and discovery. You can't capture that in a four-minute trailer.

Game might be shit in the end, but think laterally and it's clear how it could be fun.

I know. The impatient gamer in me just wants to get my hands on it. But the sensible gamer in me isn't bothered by the delay. I'm as excited for this game now as I was when I saw the first reveal.
